Anatolia is a geography where many cultures and beliefs have lived in peace for centuries. Hatay is one of the important Anatolian cities that have these characteristics. Hatay, which was included in ...the list of Creative Cities Network by UNESCO in 2017, is an important culture and tourism city that has hosted 13 civilizations. In this study, it is aimed to determine the level of inclusion of local dishes in the menus of restaurants with tourism operation certificate operating in Antakya, the central district of Hatay, which is an important tourism destination center. Within the scope of the study, the practices of the enterprises and the ideas of the managers about which dishes are served the most and the importance of local dishes in terms of tourism development of the region were investigated. Content analysis and semi-structured interview technique, which are among the qualitative research methods, were used in the research. As a result, the products offered in the enterprises were classified and interpreted by making evaluations on the obtained data.
The purpose of the article is to determine the key ideas and attitudes of the era of postmodernism in the context of the rejection of metanarratives. The research methodology consists in the ...application of methods of analysis and synthesis, systematisation of facts, comparison, and generalisation of research outcomes. The scientific novelty lies in an attempt to understand the transformative changes of the key ideas of postmodern era and to mark the role of metanarratives in the context of the concepts of ideal, truth, and universality. Conclusions. Postmodernism has found alternative ways of spiritual growth. Besides, new forms of relations between people and society have been built. Postmodernism has «rehabilitated» the previous cultural and artistic tradition, which was actively destroyed during the 20th century: realism, academicism, and classicism. Postmodernism combined the experience of the past with the experience of the present; it can be seen as a change in cultural periods. However, mutual reflection of similarities and repetitions have displaced the categories of metanarratives (objectivity, reality, truth, universality, and ideal). Thus, Jean-Francois Lyotard, postmodernist thinker, and French poststructuralist philosopher defined postmodernism as distrust of metanarratives. The term «metanarrative» replaced the concept of «philosophy of history». Metanarratives linked historical events into a single story that had spanned long periods. The use of the term «metanarrative» in the era of postmodernism indicated the emergence of a new way of understanding history, culture, and art in accordance with the postmodern concept of truth.

The paper is a contribution to current debates about conspiracy theories within philosophy and cultural studies. Wittgenstein’s understanding of language is invoked to analyse the epistemological ...effects of designating particular questions and explanations as a ‘conspiracy theory’. It is demonstrated how such a designation relegates these questions and explanations beyond the realm of meaningful discourse. In addition, Agamben’s concept of sovereignty is applied to explore the political effects of using the concept of conspiracy theory. The exceptional epistemological status assigned to alleged conspiracy theories within our prevalent paradigms of knowledge and truth is compared to the exceptional legal status assigned to individuals accused of terrorism under the War on Terror. The paper concludes by discussing the relation between conspiracy theory and ‘the paranoid style’ in contemporary politics.
Contemporary approaches to Poland’s Western and Northern Territories revolve around the concept of “postmigration communities”, or more broadly—“postmigration”, understood as a significant feature ...(or set of features) of community and social phenomena. These terms are present not only in academic discourse, but also in discussions on local identity. They are also an essential element of their symbolic status. Based on field research in the Głowczyce commune in Pomerania, the author tackles the issue of inhabitants’ attitudes towards breaking the historical and cultural continuity and the formation of the community from scratch, as well as the role of postmigration in shaping the symbolic status of the place. The article shows the capacity of the term “postmigration”. In residents’ statements, postmigration appears unnamed, as a problem, a challenge, and an asset. Attitudes towards postmigration reveal diverse attempts to cope with the break in historical and cultural continuity, which turns out to still be a significant element of identity processes taking place in the community in question.
Kazakh Poles arriving in Poland through the repatriation program still feel a close bond with the country where they were born, and for many of them it is an integral part of their daily existence. ...Maintaining regular contacts with Kazakhstan (direct or mediated by modern means of communication) and the family left there exerts a constant impact on the repatriates, and shapes their way of life. In this article, I attempt to highlight the actions or lifestyles that depend on this relationship, captured in the course of field research, using the categories of the theory of transnationality in the context of research on migration movements. By placing these activities and analysing them within the trans-local social network operating at various levels, I present a number of factors stimulating and hindering transnational activities. One of the outcomes of these deliberations is diagnosis of how the repatriates’ two-culture potential is put to use.
Increasingly, scholars have come to see the news media as playing a pivotal role in shaping whether social movements are able to bring about broader social change. By drawing attention to movements' ...issues, claims, and supporters, the news media can shape the public agenda by influencing public opinion, authorities, and elites. Why are some social movement organizations more successful than others at gaining media coverage? Specifically, what organizational, tactical, and issue characteristics enhance media attention? We combine detailed organizational survey data from a representative sample of 187 local environmental organizations in North Carolina with complete news coverage of those organizations in 11 major daily newspapers in the two years following the survey (2,095 articles). Our analyses reveal that local news media favor professional and formalized groups that employ routine advocacy tactics, mobilize large numbers of people, and work on issues that overlap with newspapers' focus on local economic growth and well-being. Groups that are confrontational, volunteerled, or advocate on behalf of novel issues do not garner as much attention in local media outlets. These findings have important implications and challenge widely held claims about the pathways by which movement actors shape the public agenda through the news media.
