My concern with the proposal to swap mentors for two new roles (news, 31 May) is that nurses who are good with students won’t be able to help them if they are not on the approved list.
This study draws from social information processing theory and the climate literature to examine an antecedent to and the consequences of voice climate, defined as shared group member perceptions of ...the extent to which they are encouraged to engage in voice behaviors. The authors test their hypotheses using data collected from a sample of 374 full-time employees nested in 54 work groups. Their results indicate that group perceptions of supervisor undermining have a negative effect on group perceptions of voice climate. In addition, voice climate predicts group voice behavior and also has a significant influence on group performance beyond the influence through group voice behavior. These findings provide additional evidence for the predictive validity of the voice climate construct and provide future research opportunities for researchers.
Bu çalışmanın amacı yöneticinin dürüstlüğüne ilişkin çalışanların algıları ile yöneticiye güven ve örgütsel vatandaşlık davranışları arasındaki ilişkileri doğrudan, dolaylı ve toplam etkiler ...bağlamında ortaya koymaktır. Bu doğrultuda kolayda örnekleme yöntemi kullanılarak Adana ilinde görev yapmakta olan 413 banka çalışanından veri toplanmıştır. Çalışmada öncelikle araştırma kapsamında önerilen ölçüm modelinin geçerliğini ortaya koymak amacıyla doğrulayıcı faktör analizi yapılmış ve modelin çok iyi düzeyde uyum gösterdiği belirilenmiştir. Çalışma kapsamında ölçeklerin güvenirliğini ortaya koymak amacıyla Cronbach Alfa iç tutarlık katsayısı ile bileşik güvenirlik katsayısı ele alınmış ve araştırmada kullanılan ölçeklerin güvenilir olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca değişkenler arasındaki ilişkilerin korelasyon analizi kullanılarak istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olduğu ortaya konulmuştur. Ardından araştırma modeli çerçevesinde öne sürülmüş olan hipotezleri test etmek amacıyla yapısal eşitlik modeli ve bootstrap yöntemi kullanılarak değişkenler arasındaki doğrudan, dolaylı ve toplam etkiler ortaya konulmuştur. Araştırmanın bulguları, yöneticinin dürüstlüğüne ilişkin algıların çalışanların örgütsel vatandaşlık davranışlarına etkisinin olduğunu göstermekle birlikte bu ilişkide ayrıca yöneticiye duyulan güvenin de kısmi aracılık rolü üstlendiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Çalışma kapsamında elde edilmiş olan bu bulgular alan yazında yapılmış olan çalışmalar çerçevesinde ve kuramsal bağlamda değerlendirilerek tartışılmaktadır.
Workplace gossip is generally viewed as a deviant behavior that negatively affects the work outcomes of employees. However, we argue that this negative view is incomplete. Drawing on the cultural ...learning perspective of gossip and social learning theory, we examine how the job performance of employee receivers benefits from supervisor negative gossip through reflective learning. On the basis of multi-source, cross-sectional designs, Studies 1 and 2 consistently find that supervisor negative gossip facilitates employee receiver reflective learning and subsequent job performance when controlling for two sets of theory-relevant variables. Study 3, which has a multi-source, cross-lagged panel design, provides further evidence of the directional relationship from supervisor negative gossip to employee receiver job performance through reflective learning. The findings of the three separate field studies support the positive effect of supervisor negative gossip on employee receivers from a learning perspective. We discuss the theoretical and practical implications of these findings in terms of how employee receiver job performance can benefit from workplace negative gossip.
This study explores the influence of supervisor police officers’ leadership styles and conflict handling on their work and their relationship with subordinates. A two-stage data analysis method is ...adopted. In the first stage, in-depth interviews are conducted to analyse local police chiefs’ views on leadership styles and conflict handling. In the second stage, questionnaires describing leadership and conflicts are distributed to subordinate police officers for statistical analysis. Conflicts emerge in the operation of government agencies because members within the organisations have different views on their respective positions, responsibilities and goals, mostly for reasons related to the leadership style of their direct supervisors. The study results reveal that transformational and transactional leadership styles positively influence subordinate police officers and negatively influence several sub-dimensions of leadership styles, consistent with cross-comparison findings. Furthermore, the results indicate that conflict handling has an insignificant influence, which significantly differs from the leaders’ perceptions of handling as found in their interviews. Accordingly, the findings of cross-analysis are reasonable. The study results can be used as a reference for future supervisors to handle and manage practical conflicts.

Family members, educators, supervisors, employers and friends are the individuals, who play an important part in putting into practice this task. The individuals need to be informative. They need to be aware in terms of methods and procedures that are to be put into operation within the course of implementation of various job duties. Furthermore, they need to be informative in terms of measures to cope with various types of problems in an adequate manner. The conduct of the individuals need to be professional within the course of implementation of various tasks and in dealing with others. When the individuals will pay attention towards up-gradation of professional skills, they will benefit on a comprehensive basis. Therefore, it can be stated, professional skills are vital in leading to enhancement of career prospects and living conditions of the individuals. The main concepts that are taken into account in this researeh paper are, understanding the meaning and significance of professional skills, types of professional skills and factors necessary in leading to up-gradation of professional skills.
