PurposeThe purpose of this study is to explore how Industry 4.0 (I40) technologies support workers' engagement in soft total quality management (TQM) practices for organisational ...performance.Design/methodology/approachThe authors conducted a multiple case study of six Italian manufacturing organisations that operate with I40 production and implement TQM practices. The authors concentrated on the relationship between I40 technologies and soft TQM aspects.FindingsI40 technologies provide two forms of engagement with workers. Workers can act as machine supervisors and expert assembly operators. Organisations use five soft TQM practices to involve and develop workers for TQM that vary according to automation levels. The five soft TQM practices are top management design around workers, incremental trials with I40 technologies, worker empowerment, I40 sociotechnical collaboration and individual feedback systems.Originality/valueIn the literature that focusses primarily on how I40 technologies support the hard side of TQM by creating a data-driven and automated quality management system, the authors illustrate how the workforce can be engaged in I40 with five soft TQM practices to improve organisational performance. Thus, the authors complement the theory of hard and soft TQM aspects for I40 production systems.
The article is devoted to determining the role of climate innovation for the practice of quality management of enterprises in industry 4.0. To do this, it conducts an empirical study of climate ...innovation in the international practice of quality management of enterprises of industry 4.0 in 2023, based on statistics by the end of 2022, using methods of regression, correlation and trend analysis, as well as variation analysis. As a result, the impact of innovation on product quality 4.0 from the standpoint of climate sustainbility has been identified and quantified. It has been established that ICT and infrastructure, staffing, organization of production and innovation funding for industry 4.0 determine the quality of 4.0 from the standpoint of climate sustainability to a much greater extent than the climate-related features of innovation in industry 4.0. The article reveals a pattern of changes in the impact of innovation on quality during neoindustrialization 4.0. This pattern is that innovation increasingly reduces quality 4.0 from the point of view of climate sustainbility in the course of neoindustrialization 4.0. The theoretical significance of the article lies in the fact that it has formed a new climate dimension of quality 4.0 in the "Decade of Action", embodied in the authors’ concept of climate TQM 4.0 and taking into account the environmental properties of products 4.0 in determining and managing its quality. The practical significance of the article is related to the fact that the proposed authors' recommendations will improve the quality of 4.0 through climate optimization of innovation. The managerial significance of the article is that the developed new approach to quality management of enterprises in industry 4.0 with the help of climate innovation has rethought this management practice through the prism of the stages of the innovation process. The approach includes management measures of climate TQM 4.0 at each stage of the innovation process.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to explore the effect of soft total quality management (TQM) on organizational performance in the Jordanian pharmaceutical manufacturing sector using the balanced ...scorecard (BSC) perspective. It also examines the indirect effect of soft TQM on financial performance through BSC non-financial perspectives.
Design/methodology/approach
The study is based on survey data collected from 197 employees in managerial and non-managerial positions working in Jordanian pharmaceutical manufacturing companies. Validity and reliability analyses were performed, and the study hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling.
Findings
The results indicated that soft TQM positively affected all BSC perspectives. Customer perspective positively affected financial performance while innovation and learning perspective and internal business process perspective did not. In addition, only customer perspective significantly mediated the relationship between soft TQM and financial performance.
Originality/value
This is one of the first papers to examine the effect of soft TQM on organizational performance in terms of BSC perspective in the pharmaceutical sector. In addition, this paper is the first to examine the mediating effects of the BSC non-financial perspectives on the relationship between soft TQM and financial performance.
This study aims to examine the impact of People related TQM which consist of (management commitment, employee empowerment, involvement, training, and teamwork) and Corporate Social Responsibility CSR ...(economical, ethical, legal, and philanthropic) on employee job satisfaction. In conducting this study data is collected through primary source using a random survey questionnaire employee in the construction companies located in Sulaymaniyah City/ Kurdistan Region- Iraq. At the time of conducting this study, there were (40) construction companies registered with the Board of Investment of Kurdistan-Iraq and had permission to operate in Sulaymaniyah City. 200 questionnaires were distributed among 25 companies out of which a total of 130 were usable. The data obtained was analyzed quantitatively using SPSS program. The result of this study reveals that there is a positive significant impact of TQM and CSR individually and simultaneously on employee job satisfaction. The proposed model showed an acceptable fit.
A digital orientation in TQM performance brings about numerous advantages, including data-driven decision-making, enhanced efficiency, flexibility, improved customer experience, continuous ...improvement, effective communication, competitive advantage, and stimulated innovation. This research focuses on bridging the knowledge gap by exploring the connection between organizational TQM performance and the antecedents of digital orientation, considering the lack of empirical research in this domain. Using data gathered from surveys of 310 small to medium-sized IT companies in India, the study evaluates a novel conceptual framework through structural equation modeling (SEM) analysis employing the partial least squares (PLS) technique. The results underscore the importance for businesses to seize the opportunity presented by digital technologies and the ongoing trend of digitalization in their industries. This involves committing to adopting these technologies, taking into account their maturity and intensity, and enhancing digital capabilities to foster resourcefulness and creativity, thereby improving organizational TQM performance. By providing a deeper understanding of pertinent antecedents of digital orientation and how they should be strategically deployed within organizations, this research contributes to the body of knowledge on organizational TQM performance and digital-oriented solutions. The findings reveal a positive impact of digital maturity, digital intensity, and digital ecosystem transformation on organizational TQM performance. Additionally, it is demonstrated that the relationship between organizational TQM performance and digital capability is mediated by digital ecosystem transformation.
Performance measurement remains a vexing problem for business firms and other kinds of organisations. This book explains why: the performance we want to measure (long-term cash flows, long-term ...viability) and the performance we can measure (current cash flows, customer satisfaction, etc.) are not the same. The 'balanced scorecard', which has been widely adopted by US firms, does not solve these underlying problems of performance measurement and may exacerbate them because it provides no guidance on how to combine dissimilar measures into an overall appraisal of performance. A measurement technique called activity-based profitability analysis (ABPA) is suggested as a partial solution, especially to the problem of combining dissimilar measures. ABPA estimates the revenue consequences of each activity performed for the customer, allowing firms to compare revenues with costs for these activities and hence to discriminate between activities that are ultimately profitable and those that are not.
Recent studies have highlighted the positive correlation between total quality management (TQM) and the performance of manufacturing companies (Sahoo & Yadav, 2018), which has been proven, ...specifically that the achievement of better operational performance is enabled by the application of TQM. This research aims to measure the impact of TQM through the components: organizational leadership, customer relationship, human resource management, strategic planning development, and supplier management in the operational performance of manufacturing enterprises in Kosovo. The research was carried out using the quantitative method, where 308 managers were part of the sample. Referring to the ordinary least squares (OLS) model, it turned out that organizational leadership and supplier management had the greatest impact on operational performance, while strategic planning development had the least impact. Also, based on the Mann–Whitney U test, it was found that there is a difference in the operational performance of manufacturing enterprises by categorizing them according to the implementation of ISO standards, where the enterprises that implement ISO standards had better operational performance.
