Asfalt kaplamalardaki ses yutma performansının arttırılması çevresel gürültü düzeyini azaltabilmektedir. Bu çalışmada asfalt kaplamalarda ses yutma katsayısının arttırılması araştırılmıştır. Asfalt kaplama kalınlık değişimi veya asfalt kaplama karışım içeriği değişikliği ile ses yutma katsayısının artırılabileceği gözlemlenmiştir. Araştırmada, gözenekli asfalt kaplamaların ses yutma katsayısı ölçüm sonuçları MATLAB programında modellenmiş ve analiz edilmiştir. Agrega karışım içerinde %0, %25, %50, %75 ve %100 oranlarında bazik oksijen fırını cürufu agreganın asfalt kaplamada kullanılması araştırılmış ve farklı karışımlara ait asfalt kaplamaların ses yutma katsayısı MATLAB programında modellenmiştir. Ayrıca, 3 cm, 6,35 cm ve 10 cm kalınlığındaki asfalt kaplamaların ses yutma performansları 1/3 oktav bant frekanslarına göre incelenmiş ve değişen asfalt kalınlıklarına göre ses yutma katsayısı eğri uyarlama yöntemi ile MATLAB programında modellenmiştir. Eğri modelleri yardımıyla, değişen asfalt kalınlık değerine göre ses yutma katsayısı öngörülebilecektir. Asfalt kaplama karışımında agrega olarak bazik oksijen fırını cürufunun kullanılması, sadece düşük frekans değerlerinde değil, aynı zamanda yüksek frekans değerlerinde de ses yutma performansını arttırabilmektedir. Gözenekli asfalt kaplamalardaki kalınlık artışı düşük frekanslardaki ses yutma performansını iyileştirebilmektedir.

Duży wpływ starzenia uwidacznia się w trakcie produkcji MMA i rzutuje na jej ...właściwości. W referacie przedstawiono wyniki badań własnych wpływu starzenia na właściwości asfaltu lanego. Ocenie poddano wpływ niektórych czynników (temperatury starzenia oraz dodatku asfaltu naturalnego TE) na odporność na deformacje trwałe tej mieszanki. Uzyskane wyniki poddano również analizie statystycznej w celu określenia istotności wpływu danego czynnika. Wyniki przeprowadzonych badań pozwalają stwierdzić, że asfalt naturalny TE ma pozytywny wpływ na zmniejszenie negatywnych skutków starzenia krótkoterminowego MMA. Mieszanki z tym dodatkiem wykazują mniejsze utwardzenie niż w przypadku mieszanek bez tego dodatku.
The majority of steel and reinforced concrete bridges are produced with asphalt pavement. The reason for this is to protect steel and concrete structures from the effects of water and degrading salt ...additives and to increase their durability. Asphalt bridge superstructures are mostly manufactured with four layers. These layers are the primer bonding layer, waterproofing layer, protection layer and surface asphalt wearing layers. The superstructure must protect the supporting substructure. It should protect the life of the structure and ensure the integrity of the structure against permanent deformation, aging, raveling, water damage and chemical effects. Diatomite additive is used as a performance enhancer in various aspects. It is generally preferred in the region of 5%-15% according to the bitumen mass. The granulometric size and chemical properties of the diatomite additive are other effective factors. In this study, the rutting resistance of conventional and diatomite-modified asphalt pavement for 5% and 10% ratios for selected diatomite additive gradation is investigated. The rutting resistance of the pavements is investigated by repeated creep tests for two different additive ratios on water-damaged and control mixtures. In unconditioned samples, 5% diatomite-modified mixtures; in conditioned samples, 10% diatomite-modified mixtures showed the greatest deformation resistance.

The role of the filler in asphalt mixtures is particularly important because of its influence on mastic behaviour. The filler improves the resistance properties of bitumen against the action of traffic loads and temperature. However, the filler can also adversely affect bitumen in mastics excessively brittle and stiff due to inappropriate design. For these reasons, it is interesting to investigate the effect of filler type and content on mastic composition. This paper presents results from a strain sweep test applied to bituminous mastics prepared with different filler types and contents at several temperatures. The obtained stiffness modulus and failure strain results provide information to assess the fatigue behaviour of the analysed mastics.
Asfalt üretiminde uygulamaya konulan bilimsel gelişmelerden biri de ılık karışım asfalt teknolojisidir. Ilık karışım asfalt teknolojisi ile daha düşük sıcaklıklarda asfalt üretimi mümkün olmaktadır. ...Bu çalışmada, Pawma-1 (%0,35) ve Low Energy and Low Carbon-Dioxide Asphalt Pavement (Leadcap) (%1,5) ılık karışım asfalt katkı maddeleri ile Stiren-Butadien-Stiren (SBS) (%2) katkı maddesi karışım numunelerinde denenmiştir. Bununla beraber, sönmüş kirecin ılık karışım asfaltlarda filler olarak kullanımının etkileri de incelenmiştir. Çalışmada TÜPRAŞ rafinerisinden temin edilen bitüm (B50/70) ve agrega olarak Elazığ Hankendi bölgesinden temin edilen kalker türü kırmataş malzeme kullanılmıştır. Modifiye bağlayıcılar hazırlandıktan sonra Marshall yöntemine göre optimum bitüm oranları belirlenerek karışım numuneleri hazırlanmıştır. Karışım numunelerinin yarısında filler yerine %2 oranında sönmüş kireç kullanılmıştır. Hazırlanan numuneler üzerinde Marshall stabilite ve akma deneyi (ASTM D-1559) uygulanmıştır. Leadcap, Pawma-1 ve SBS katkıları ile hazırlanan karışımlarda stabilite artmıştır. Sönmüş kirecin, ılık karışım asfaltların stabilitelerini arttırdığı görülmüştür. Sönmüş kireç katkılı SBS modifiyeli karışımların en olumlu sonuçları verdikleri tespit edilmiştir.
The rapid growth of the global population has led to an increased demand for vehicles and industrial products, resulting in heightened production levels. Unfortunately, this surge in production ...inevitably generates significant amounts of waste, which, when not effectively managed, contributes to environmental pollution and poses challenges for waste storage. To address these pressing concerns, scientific research has been actively exploring ways to repurpose waste materials across various sectors to promote sustainability. This study delves into the innovative concept of incorporating ceramic cake waste (CCW) as an alternative aggregate material in the production of asphalt concrete -a key material in road construction. Our research explored the feasibility of incorporating CCW into asphalt concrete, typically consisting of aggregates and bitumen. We identified a pivotal threshold through rigorous testing and analysis: incorporating up to 20% CCW in asphalt concrete production aligns with industry standards. This approach not only aids in reducing environmental and visual pollution but also optimizes waste storage and resource utilization, ultimately contributing to a healthier environment and improved quality of life. In conclusion, our study takes a significant step towards promoting sustainability in the road construction sector. The findings provide a foundation for the further exploration and adoption of ceramic cake waste reuse in road construction, offering a promising solution and awareness to address the challenges posed by increasing waste generation and the imperative for sustainable development.
Bu çalışmada, atık lastiklerden elde edilmiş olan siyah karbon (SK) katkısının sıcak karışım asfalt kaplamaların nem performansı üzerindeki etkileri araştırılmıştır. Bu amaçla, penetrasyon sınıfı B ...160/220 olan saf asfalta ağırlıkça %5, %10, %15 ve %20 oranlarında SK eklenerek modifiye asfaltlar hazırlanmıştır. Saf ve modifiye asfaltların fiziksel özellikleri penetrasyon, yumuşama noktası ve düktilite deneyleri ile, işlenebilirlik özellikleri ise dönel viskozimetre (RV) deneyi ile belirlenmiştir. Daha sonra, karışım tasarımı için agrega ve saf asfalt kullanılarak Marshall tasarım yöntemine göre karışımın optimum asfalt içeriği belirlenmiştir. Belirlenen bu oran esas alınarak saf ve modifiye asfaltlar ile sıcak karışım numuneleri hazırlanmıştır. Saf ve SK katkılı modifiye karışım numuneleri Marshall stabilitesi, kalıcı Marshall stabilitesi (RMS) ve dolaylı çekme mukavemeti (ITS) deneylerine tabi tutulmuştur. Fiziksel test sonuçlarına göre, SK katkısı ile modifiye bağlayıcıların sertliğinin ve işlenebilirlik sıcaklıklarının arttığı görülmüştür. Karışım test sonuçlarına göre, Marshall stabilitesi, RMS ve dolaylı çekme mukavemeti oranı (ITSR) değerlerinin özellikle %10SK oranında önemli artışlar göstermesi sebebiyle yol kaplamalarının nem performansı üzerinde SK katkısının iyileştirici bir etki gösterdiği görülmüştür.
In this study, the effects of carbon black (CB) additive obtained from waste tires on the moisture performance of hot mix asphalt pavements were investigated. For this purpose, modified asphalts were prepared by adding 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% CB by weight to pure asphalt with penetration class B 160/220. Physical properties of pure and modified asphalts were determined by penetration, softening point and ductility tests, and workability properties were determined by rotational viscometer (RV) test. Then, the optimum asphalt content of the mixture was determined according to Marshall design method by using aggregate and pure asphalt for mixture design. Based on this determined ratio, pure and modified asphalts and hot mix samples were prepared. Pure and CB added modified mixture samples were subjected to Marshall stability, retained Marshall stability (RMS) and indirect tensile strength (ITS) tests. According to the physical test results, it was observed that the hardness and workability temperatures of the modified binders increased with the CB additive. According to the test results of the mixture, it was observed that CB additive had an improving effect on the moisture performance of road pavements due to the significant increases in Marshall stability, RMS and indirect tensile strength ratio (ITSR) values, especially at the rate of 10% CB.

There is a great interest in increasing the amount of recycled material used in asphalt mixes because of the beneficial impact on the environment. This is leading to the development of different recycling procedures, from cold in-situ to hot in-plant recycling. The objective of the study presented in this paper is to evaluate cracking resistance of recycled mixes manufactured by three types of processes, i.e., cold with emulsion, hot with high penetration bitumens and hot with emulsion (half-warm mixture), using 100% of reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) at different temperatures. Differences in their workability and ease of use are also analysed by gyratory compaction.

Asphalt binder characterization is a complex and difficult task due to its rheological behaviour. Indeed it has been traditionally realized by means of simple tests at an established temperature. An added challenge is that low temperatures, as well as binder aging, lead to significant changes in the viscoelastic behaviour of binders. This study aimed to characterize asphalt binders, not through the traditional procedures, but through the ductility and tenacity that they provide to a mixture, being these two properties directly related to the cracking response of the binder. To this end, a new approach for asphalt binder characterization was proposed based on the application of the Fénix test on a standard mixture with a defined aggregate gradation and composition, without fines or filler, manufactured with different types of binders and tested at different temperatures, as well as subjected to accelerated aging in laboratory. The obtained results showed the thermal susceptibility of binders, which evidence the need to characterize binder performance at different temperatures to obtain a reliable cracking response. In addition, binder aging results in a more brittle cracking fracture, being the aging effects more pronounced in high penetration binders.

Fatigue is associated with the deterioration caused by applying repeated loads, and is affected by temperature or aging. Generally, time sweep tests are used to simulate fatigue, in order to obtain the fatigue laws. However, this requires too much time, often preventing its use. A method to estimate the fatigue laws from a strain sweep test is presented. The test was performed on a semi-dense mixture with different types of binder (unconditioned or aged) tested at different temperatures. This test is able to estimate fatigue laws more quickly, allowing the effect of different factors on the mixtures' fatigue life to be studied.
