BackgroundIn April of 2016, a provincial sexually transmitted infections (STI) outbreak was declared in Alberta. In response to sharply rising rates, Alberta formed the Alberta Sexually Transmitted ...and Blood Borne Infection (STBBI) Network (ASN) and developed the 2016–2020 STBBI Operational Strategy and Action Plan (OSAP). The aim of the STBBI OSAP is to transform STBBI care in Alberta by leveraging engagement and commitment from within the ASN to achieve collective impact and develop wrap around shared care models through formalized interagency collaboration.MethodsASN has grown to include over 500 stakeholders representing approximately 200 community-based, provincial and federal organizations including communities most affected by STBBI (Indigenous, LGBTQ2+, immigrants, and street involved clients). The OSAP comprises 74 recommendations that focus on five pillars of client-centred STBBI care: (1) prevention, (2) testing/screening, (3) treatment, (4) linkage to care, and (5) stigma. Seven working groups designed 15 project concepts with endorsement from the Steering Committee to optimize achievement of prioritized recommendations.ResultsImplementation of STBBI OSAP priority recommendations is still underway in 2019. Some prioritized action items include: PrEP guidelines and training program for designated prescribers; a validation study of self-collected gonorrhea/chlamydia NAAT specimens to improve access to low barrier testing opportunities; expedited partner therapy; expanded Hepatitis C treatment access in Indigenous communities; education for primary care providers to increase access and linkage to STBBI care; and formalizing interagency collaboration through the development of STBBI wrap around shared care model demonstration projects.ConclusionThe STBBI OSAP is an innovative, comprehensive, and collaborative intersectoral approach to address the high burden of STBBI in Alberta and to strengthen the provincial outbreak response. The strength of this provincial initiative is the engagement and collaboration amongst ASN stakeholders to achieve long lasting impact and sustainability of both systemic and operational interventions.DisclosureNo significant relationships.
Colorado State University Libraries has partnered with the university’s Franklin A. Graybill Statistics and Data Science Laboratory to jointly offer workshops teaching R coding for academic research, ...while employing Statistics graduate students as instructors. This partnership has capitalized on the strengths of both units and has provided an opportunity to build campus relationships. The development, assessment, challenges, benefits, and evolution of this fruitful and ongoing collaboration are described with the intent that this information may assist in the creation or enhancement of services at other institutions.
Collaboration provides an opportunity to address issues more comprehensively than what is possibleby individuals or groups in isolation. Large-scale collaborations, such as those occurring within ...anetwork of institutions, can present immense opportunities to solve problems that transcend the localnuances of individual institutions. As we have been reflecting on the experience of collaboration, wewondered—what is the glue that can hold together an intricate web of relationships to meet sharedgoals or address various challenges? In this column, we draw on four levels of interorganizationalcollaboration (Schruijer 2021) to assist with organizing and capturing our lived experiences, to centerand celebrate the humanity at the core of data curation.
Purpose: The purpose of this research is to examine the differentiation of teachers' ability to work together depending on the variable of taking part in eTwinning projects. The results obtained were analyzed in depth through interviews with the teachers involved in the projects.
Method/Design/Methodology/Approach: In this study, firstly, the effect of taking part in eTwinning activities on the competence to work together was determined by scale application, and then interviews were conducted to make sense of the results obtained. In this direction, mixed method was preferred. It is a pragmatist approach that aims to comprehensively examine the mixed method research problem. The sequential explanatory design was preferred as the research design. Sequential design is applied as the introduction of the qualitative stage in order to make sense of the quantitative results as a result of the quantitative applications. The quantitative dimension of the research was carried out with 78 teachers. In the qualitative dimension, interviews were conducted with 6 teachers.
Findings: It has been observed that teachers' ability to work together is generally high, while teachers who take part in eTwinning studies have a significantly higher level. Qualitative findings show that eTwinning studies make positive contributions for students, teachers and institutions. It has been concluded that teachers can take part in project studies in line with their personal and professional characteristics related to their competence to work together, and that their competence to work together is affected due to the task they take in the project.
Originality: Studies on the competence of teachers to work together are quite limited. In recent years, many types of projects that require teachers to work together have been put into practice. eTwinning projects have been expanding their sphere of influence for years as a project coordinated by the National Agency supported by the European Union. Examining the impact and outputs of eTwinning projects that can support teachers' ability to work together has been the original aspect of the research.
