The purpose of the article is to analyze, along with further improvement and adaptation, the essence and importance of communications to the management system of enterprises and organizations in the ...current conditions of their functioning. The article analyzes and shows the role of communications in the functioning of enterprises depending on a particular type of enterprise activity. The analysis of existing studies allowed to identify the approaches from which scholars consider the concept of communication, namely: philosophical, social, linguistic, economic, and psychological. Among the most relevant definitions of «communication» for today’s events in Ukraine, the study chose the most appropriate interpretation of the concept of communication as a process by which we provide and transmit meaning in an attempt to create a common understanding. This process requires a huge set of skills. This interpretation helps to adapt the definition as accurately as possible to the events currently taking place in our country and in business, when it is necessary to reflect a common understanding of the situation. Also, based on the analysis of current definitions of the concept of «communication», the author has proposed his own vision of this concept and defined communication as an opportunity to unite like-minded people whose goal is to solve a certain problem with the possible further maintenance of relations to maintain a common understanding of a situation or event. In general, the results of the analysis show that the understanding of the content of communication in the management system of enterprises and organizations has certain peculiarities depending on their activities and the approach used for analysis. Managers at enterprises should take a more balanced approach to understanding the communication process, as this will ensure the formation of an internal microclimate in the team, successful interaction both within the organization and externally, and, ultimately, will help to increase the efficiency of the management process.
This research aims to examine disaster communication performed by the community of Turgo, Purwobinangun, Pakem. Sleman. The research was conducted utilizing a qualitative method, and the data were ...collected through interviews and Focus Group Discussions. The research objects include the community members living in Turgo consisting of teenagers, adults, the elderly, the search and rescue (SAR) team, and village heads. The research results show that the people living in Turgo utilize many sources of information in accessing disaster information, including surveillance and reconnaissance posts (wastai posts), social media, interpersonal communication, and group communication. The information is delivered through Whatsapp Group, Youtube, Twitter, Instagram, direct/ face-to-face communication, traditional bamboo slit drum (kentongan), motorcycle horns, and speakers. In addition, the resident's response is very positive in responding to any call/order from the authorities. In other words, no citizen rejected the call given. Also, opinion leaders do not have a significant role in disaster communication. The SAR team has a higher position than the opinion leader as they know the conditions in the field better
The article is a study of the historical evolution of the communication process and some theoretical reflections on the definition of the term. It describes the development of the communication ...process in different historical periods, being emphasized the connection of the phenomenon with the history of human evolution. The content of the concept has been researched by scientists from the perspective of several sciences: philosophy, sociology, psychology, computer science, mathematics, semiotics and from other fields, and most of them defined the term communication. The article contains a series of definitions to better understand the issue of defining the term. Up to the present, there is no accepted definition as one that encompasses all the features of the phenomenon. This is due to the polysemantic and complex nature of communication which it has obtained during the historical development.
•Tweets with more words and hashtags are retweeted faster during disaster events.•Including URLs in tweets should be avoided when communicating emergency information.•Including important hashtags ...about the disaster event in tweets can support the rapid dissemination of emergency information.•The impact of including URLs and important hashtags on retweet time differ depending on the type of communication process.
Users’ ability to retweet information has made Twitter one of the most prominent social media platforms for disseminating emergency information during disasters. However, few studies have examined how Twitter’s features can support the different communication patterns that occur during different phases of disaster events. Based on the literature of disaster communication and Media Synchronicity Theory, we identify distinct disaster phases and the two communication types—crisis communication and risk communication—that occur during those phases. We investigate how Twitter’s representational features, including words, URLs, hashtags, and hashtag importance, influence the average retweet time—that is, the average time it takes for retweet to occur—as well as how such effects differ depending on the type of disaster communication. Our analysis of tweets from the 2013 Colorado floods found that adding more URLs to tweets increases the average retweet time more in risk-related tweets than it does in crisis-related tweets. Further, including key disaster-related hashtags in tweets contributed to faster retweets in crisis-related tweets than in risk-related tweets. Our findings suggest that the influence of Twitter’s media capabilities on rapid tweet propagation during disasters may differ based on the communication processes.
Background. The current situation with the spread of a new coronavirus infection affected absolutely all spheres of society, and the sphere of higher education was no exception. Students and teachers ...today are forced to work in a different format unusual for themselves – in the conditions of a distance form of study. A rather serious and sudden change in working conditions inevitably leads to difficulties, which are manifested primarily in the process of communication between the teacher and students. The purpose of the study is to study the violation of the communication process when transferring educational material in a distance form of learning. Materials and methods. The implementation of the tasks is achieved based on the analysis of the results of an empirical study conducted by the authors in the form of a questionnaire survey of the student community (n = 370). The analysis and synthesis of scientific and journalistic literature on the topic of social communication in the field of education was also carried out. Results. A sociological study was conducted aimed at identifying the difficulties that arise in students in the conditions of distance learning. This phenomenon is analyzed both in terms of verbalized attitudes of respondents and the analysis of their real behavior. As a result of the study, failures of the communication process were identified and recommendations were made to eliminate them. Conclusions. The study revealed that communication failures occur at all stages. These trends correspond to the conditions for the sudden introduction of an unusual training format. The proposed recommendations on the management of problems arising in distance work (falling quality of educational material, non-acceptance by students of some forms of remote classes, personal organizational problems) may be of practical interest, both for university administration and ordinary teachers.
Scientists continue keep discussions about communications and communication processes, as well as their role in the activities of companies in the digital economy. The communications of consulting ...companies, where this management tool is of great importance in the process of their growth, are poorly studied. Issues of the development of areas for effective communication management of consulting companies are still relevant. The purpose of the article is to study of theoretical foundations of the formation of a communication system of internal consulting interaction and hence, develop a scientific and methodological approach to assessing the state of the communication system of internal consulting interaction; provide practical recommendations for the effective management of internal communications on the example of the activities of consulting companies in Ukraine. Methodology. A set of general scientific methods was used: historical and dialectical methods – for reviewing scientific views on the content of consulting and communications, presenting the content of the main scientific categories; an abstract-logical method – for establishing logical relationships between the elements of the communication system of internal consulting interaction and developing, on this basis, a scientific and methodological approach to assessing the state of this system; the method of strategic analysis of diagnostics of the system of internal communications on the example of consulting companies in Ukraine. Results. The authors clarified basic concepts and components of the communication system of the communicative process of consulting interaction according to its examined features. Connections between the elements of this system were established. The emergence in the communication system of a consulting company of the effect of communicative convergence between the participants in the interaction during the development of a joint idea and the production of joint communicative actions was fixed. It was developed a scientific and methodological approach to assessing the state of the communication system of internal consulting relationship, the implementation of which takes place within the framework of the procedural model. The state of communication systems of internal consulting was assessed instead of modifications at the stage “Diagnostics of communication systems” as in the case of the ninth consulting companies in Ukraine, which were included in the Top 15 most popular companies of Ukraine in 2020. During the diagnostics of communication systems of such companies, their strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats were identified. This made it possible to solve problems related to business dealing in companies and give practical recommendations for addressing these problems. Practical implications. The results of theoretical and practical research confirm the need for consulting companies to use a process model for assessing the state of the communication system of the communicative process of internal consulting interaction within the framework of a scientific and methodological approach. The approach will help the management of consulting companies to timely identify problems in the management of internal communications, evaluate them and make effective decisions to increase the loyalty of consultants, their productivity and receive planned income. Value/originality. Research is valuable. It substantiates the understanding of consulting interaction as a professional communication process in the communication system of consulting companies, which accompanied by the effect of communicative convergence. The results obtained can be useful for specialists and managers of internal communications. To get a fuller picture of the problems, company managers are encouraged to conduct surveys of employees and coordinate their competencies in accordance with the “Effective Consultant” model.

This work aims to discuss the implementation of a communication plan as a key element of the epidemiological study to foster social capacity in the scarcely involved community of the industrial ...contaminated site of Porto Torres (Sardinia region, Italy). We established an inter-institutional working group committed to developing communication activities and materials ensuring multidisciplinary skills from social and communication sciences to collaborate with the environmental and health experts involved in the epidemiological study. The adopted methodological approach and communication strategy resulted in effective and successful engagement of local institutional and social actors in the design and implementation of targeted communication activities. Designing and implementing environmental public health communication processes with poorly involved communities residing close to industrially contaminated sites is critically important. In these areas, environmental noxious exposures associated with high health risks are frequently combined with low socioeconomic conditions. This calls upon mechanisms of environmental injustice, distributive and procedural, and emphasizes the need to prioritize interventions based on integrative strategies securing local communities' engagement through informed participation. Based on the lessons learned in this community-focused experience in Italy, we have identified key actions for suitable environmental public health communication to foster social capacity and promote procedural environmental justice in communities living in other industrial contaminated sites.
It was starting from the author's interest in mothers who are both urban women and put forward the concept of health literacy about care, healing, and health conditions of their children, if their ...children experience illness. The purpose of this study is to describe the process of health communication that occurs in whatsapp group "Tentang Anak"; the topic of conversation conducted in whatsapp group "Tentang Anak"; and communication barriers that occur during the health communication process. This study uses a qualitative approach with virtual ethnographic methods. The results of the study showed that the ongoing health communication process included the search by the mother for the health information about their children in whatsapp group "Tentang Anak". The topic of discussion is about information of healthy lifestyles for children, child development, child care, and child healing techniques when experiencing any pain. The communication barriers in the health communication process are personal obstacles, educational barriers, and time constraints.
Multilabel feature selection, which is used to select features relevant to multiple labels, has demonstrated its effectiveness in prediction time and learning accuracy. A memetic algorithm that uses ...a feature subset refining process has been verified to outperform existing genetic algorithms in identifying an optimal feature subset. However, as the refinement process is consistently applied to all solutions of feature subsets, similar feature subsets can be over-produced, thereby limiting the synergy of hybridization. Here, we propose an evolutionary multilabel feature selection algorithm that searches the final feature subset using multiple populations to prevent limiting the synergy of hybridization. A new hybridization-based communication process refines solutions originated from each best solution of multiple populations, then, randomly distributes the produced solutions. With this approach, the proposed method circumvents the degradation of search capability and keeps the synergy of hybridization. Our experimental results indicate that the proposed method could identify better feature subsets than conventional methods.
•An effective memetic algorithm for multilabel feature selection is proposed.•A communication process with a hybridized filter improves a search capability.•Experimental results on 14 multilabel datasets demonstrate the effectiveness.
