In 2014, a new specialized sub-corpus of the Slovak National Corpus with a free public access - the Corpus of Copywriting Texts (cw-2014-all) consisting of 1 648 229 tokens and 54 617 unique lemmas ...was created in the department of the Slovak National Corpus of the Ľ. Štúr Institute of Linguistics, Slovak Academy of Sciences. The corpus contains 1 441 pages from 339 websites of commercial companies and public institutions focused on advertising and self-presentation. The corpus is lemmatized and morphologically annotated. It includes three sub-corpora: the sub-corpus of copywriting texts of bigger commercial companies (cw-2014-v); the sub-corpus of copywriting texts of smaller commercial companies (cw-2014-m) and the sub-corpus of copywriting texts of public institutions (cw-2014-inst). The article specifies the methodology of corpus creation and provides its basic quantitative and qualitative characteristics.
This paper explores how metaphors in Dante's Commedia can be identified, classified and organized in a database so as to provide thorough and solid data to aid their understanding. All metaphors in ...the poem are first identified through a linguistic procedure called MIP (i.e. Metaphor Identification Process), based on the comparison between the contextual and the basic meaning of each word-unit. The metaphors thus identified are later classified based on syntactic, semantic and rhetorical structure criteria, taking into account both medieval explanations of figurative language and the features of Dante's metaphors that have always struck the readers of his poem. The findings from this combined linguistic and stylistic analysis provide evidence to support tenets put forward by some literary scholars (e.g. that metaphors increase in number and complexity throughout the poem) and show that metaphors converge in sections of political and religious invective, where one of the main purposes of the author is to elevate his style. The study suggests that a systematic multi-dimensional analysis of metaphor can shed light on its conceptual importance in a text and raise awareness of all its stylistic traits.
This volume presents results of bilateral research project BeSyMPHONic (ÖAW/Univ. Toulouse) funded by ANR & FWF. Differences between the two languages with respect to the processing of morphonotactic ...(MPH) vs. phonotactic (PH) consonant clusters are shown for the first time, the linguistically challenging claim that differences between MPH and PH are also realized phonetically is refuted, and the importance of the relative morphological richness of a language is illustrated.
Der Band zeigt Ergebnisse des von ANR & FWF geförderten, bilateralen Forschungsprojekts BeSyMPHONic (ÖAW/Univ. Toulouse). Unterschiede zwischen beiden Sprachen in Bezug auf die Verarbeitung morphonotaktischer (MPH) vs. phonotaktischer (PH) Konsonantengruppen werden erstmalig aufgezeigt, die sprachtheoretisch herausfordernde Behauptung, dass Unterschiede zwischen MPH und PH auch phonetisch realisiert werden, widerlegt, und die Wichtigkeit des relativen morphologischen Reichtums einer Sprache veranschaulicht.

This research aims to compile an Arabic-English Transport Dictionary through Corpus Linguistic Methods. This dictionary is intended for general learners. Types of qualitative descriptive research and ...this research used a discourse analysis. This research used a discourse analysis of secondary data. The source of the data involved dictionary data from Arabic websites containing Arabic and English terms in the field of transportation, namely ootlah.com, and tostpost.com. The data collection technique was through discovering synonyms or similar Arabic and English words in the ootlah.com and tostpost.com. Then, collecting the terms related to transportation. After that, combine them into a table and sort by alphabetical letter. When the vocabulary has been combined, then eliminate the similar vocabulary and move it to the document work page according to the alphabet. The results obtained from this study revealed the vocabulary that was previously collected with a total of 600, then eliminated to around 460 Arabic vocabulary in the field of transportation, with eighteen different links from two websites of ootlah.com and tostpost.com produced by the author. In conclusion, the Arabic-English Transport Dictionary has been well arranged through Corpus Linguistics Methods.
Corpus linguistics investigates language using extensive text databases. Tools assist researchers in analyzing, extracting, and interpreting linguistic information efficiently. Furthermore, if ...researchers only use traditional tools in corpus linguistic analysis, they will lack the comprehensiveness and efficiency required to effectively navigate and derive valuable insights from language data. This paper employed the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) approach to find the primary data based on a few keywords in corpus linguistic, corpus analysis, computational linguistic, text corpora and tool support. Based on this method, we used advanced searching techniques on Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) and discovered (N=28) data pertinent to the study. Expert scholars decide on a theme based on the problem, which is (i) types of corpus tools and their uses; (ii) their contributions and their capabilities (iii) limitations of corpus tools. All the tools were used in interdisciplinary studies. In summary, this systematic review uncovers pivotal key findings at the intersection of computational tools and corpus analysis, enriching linguistic knowledge. It highlights the interdisciplinary potential of corpus-based analysis in advancing linguistic tools and, their applications, as well as language analysis.
This study analyses the translation process into English of terms and expressions in the works written respectively by the anthropologists Roberto Da Matta and Darcy Ribeiro and in their respective ...translation. Our research project draws on Corpus-Based Translation Studies (Baker, 1995, 1996, 2000; Camargo, 2007), Corpus Linguistics (Berber Sardinha, 2004) and on some concepts of Terminology (Barros, 2004). Results show that terms do not present univocity within the language related to Brazilian Anthropology. The translated terms also reflect a cultural change due to the options chosen by the respective translators for the target language.
In this project, new posibilities of tourist lexical management are supplied by working with a well-stocked database of tourist accommodation promotional web sites. Internet decisive influence will be ilustrated on tourist promotion and on the charasteristics of a new tourist speech generated on 2.0 web. Marketing experts and linguists are getting used to this radical paradigm and genre change (cibergenre and macrogenre) with competitive products based on a continous adjudication of new lexical meanings. Finally a model is introduced as a result of working with a representative group of tourist acommodation in Balear islands.
