This book is one of the most important recent books on Hegel, a philosopher who has had a crucial impact on the shape of continental philosophy. Published here in English for the first time, it ...includes a substantial preface by Jacques Derrida in which he explores the themes and conclusions of Malabou's book.
The Future of Hegel: Plasticity, Temporality and Dialectic restores Hegel's rich and complex concepts of time and temporality to contemporary philosophy. It examines his concept of time, relating it to perennial topics in philosophy such as substance, accident and the identity of the subject. Catherine Malabou's also contrasts her account of Hegelian temporality with the interpretation given by Heidegger in Being and Time , arguing that it is the concept of 'plasticity' that best describes Hegel's theory of temporality. The future is understood not simply as a moment in time, but as something malleable and constantly open to change through our interpretation. The book also develops Hegel's preoccupation with the history of Greek thought and Christianity and explores the role of theology in his thought. Essential reading for those interested in Hegel and contemporary continental philosophy, The Future of Hegel is also fascinating to those interested in the ideas of Heidegger and Derrida.
Catherine Malabou is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Paris X, Nanterre.
This work shows a clear concurrence in the resonance of the categories 'cultural industry' Kulturindustrie –used by Theodor Adorno to indicate certain areas of subjective dialectics– and 'leisure ...industry' Vergnügungsindustrie –referred by Walter Benjamin in relation to the objective dialectic–. I dwell on this little-explored concomitance to determine why Adorno evidences a dialectic of subjectivity administered in sacrificial renunciation and Benjamin elaborates a dialectic of fetishized objectivity marked by its character of cadaverous phantasmagoria. Thus, I indicate a dimension of incardination between the expansive vein of modern rationality and the instrumentalization of subjects and objects.
Abstract: Western medicine is constantly evolving. Scientific and technological advances have improved the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, but have also posed new humanistic challenges. In this context, pedagogy has become a fundamental pillar in the training of health professionals. This pedagogy has a unique purpose, which isthe holistic training of future doctors, who must be professionals capable of responding to contemporary challenges with professionalism, empathy, and passion for what they do. This educational reflection explores the relevance of pedagogical theories in the training of health professionals. It focuses on the approaches of seven works: Platon, Vygotsky, Stone, Masschelein, Herbart, Dewey, Daguaand Obando. These paradigms, although strengthenedin different times and contexts, converge on a fundamental point: to give a purpose to education and pedagogy from different contexts, based on the importance of training competent, empathetic, and ethical health professionals.
This research examines the process through which globally distributed work teams attempt to adapt to cross-cultural differences while being constrained by the local contexts in which they are ...embedded. We conducted an in-depth field study of nine software development teams that included 132 ethnographic initial interviews, periods of team observation, 19 follow-up interviews, and team meetings. Inductive analysis of the data led us to develop an embedded model of cultural adaptation in global teams to describe the process we observed as teams attempted to cope with important differences in interpersonal communication styles, preferred approaches to organizational control and authority relations, and work-related knowledge and problem-solving approaches. We show how local embeddedness and interdependence across sites together drive cultural adaptation dialectics as actors attempt to resolve rippling tensions within and across nested social structures. The model of cultural adaptation that we developed as an outcome of our research challenges literature that assumes adaptation can be contained within a team and is distinctive in incorporating a dynamic systems view of culture. We build on and develop theory concerning multilevel structuration dynamics. Our work may have implications for other types of boundary-spanning collaborations such as strategic alliances and multinational corporations.
Legalizing abortion for rape victims creates a debate in substance and the application of the theories and principles surrounding it. The author tries to see the meaning from two different sides, ...namely, from the interests of protecting rape victims and the interests of the children conceived by rape victims. The method used by the author is a normative juridical approach. The meaning contained in abortion provocations from the point of view of a rape victim is protection for the victim. This protection is certainly carried out from the effects or impacts of the actions of the perpetrators of rape. Meanwhile, the meaning contained in abortion provocateurs from the point of view of Human Rights (HAM) leads to the fulfillment of the fetus's right to life mentioned in the previous description, which is called a child who is still in the womb. The author provides suggestions as solutions to problems that may arise, including: (1) the need for synchronization and harmonization of existing regulations, in this case between regulations on health and regulations on human rights; (2) legislators must prioritize higher interests in the event of a similar situation. According to the author, the human rights interests of children in the womb must be prioritized.
Maher Harbi's drawings have taken an aesthetic and artistic dimension that leads to creating an approach between what is religious and mundane, between religious and mundane, with the techniques of ...plastic art, and this is what led the researcher to address this topic and stand on the realistic controversy based on the religious and the secular. Accordingly, the researcher divided the subject of the research into four chapters. The first chapter (the methodological framework) dealt with the research problem, which is summarized in the following question: (What is the dialectic of the reality of Maher Harbi’s drawings between the religious and the secular?) Then the importance of the research manifested in shedding light on the deep structure of the drawings and its dimensions in the religious reality and mundane. As for the need to research an academic study that benefits students in the fine arts specialization. The chapter also dealt with the objective of the research, which seeks to: (know the dialectic of religious and worldly reality in Maher Harbi's drawings). This is followed by the limits of the research that include the temporal limit: (1990-2014) and the spatial limit: (Nineveh Governorate) and the subject boundary (a dialectical study of the religious and worldly reality in Maher Harbi’s drawings) to conclude the research by defining the terms (argumentative, religious, worldly) linguistically, idiomatically and procedurally. As for the second chapter (the theoretical framework), it included two topics: the first: the Christian religious dimensions of painting, and the second: the religious and secular dialectic in art. The researcher concludes the chapter with the indicators that resulted from the theoretical framework and previous studies. The third chapter includes (the research community), which is defined in Nineveh Governorate (the research tool), as the researcher adopted the indicators that resulted from the theoretical framework as the criterion for measuring the research sample. (Selected models between 1995, 2011), to end the chapter with the analysis of samples. The fourth chapter also dealt with the research results and their discussion, then the conclusions, recommendations and suggestions. This is followed by a list of proven sources, references, appendices and images.
Some have considered the dialectic in form and meaning from different points of view, and dismantled them from each other, and this view is correct if we adopt according to the logic of Aristotle ...when it comes to dialectic, the dialectic of form and meaning has different aspects and does not share a single line in terms of conceptual meaning, the form is the appearance What the recipient sees with the help of cognitive tools, the content or content is the mental meaning, which in turn depends on his own tools, and to this extent this view is correct, and the intellectual content or meaning of the artwork or the human message that the artist wants to convey to the viewer. The research included four chapters. The first chapter included the research problem, which was determined by the following question: How effective is the dialectic between form and meaning? And the importance of research and the need for it 1- The mutual relationship between form and meaning helps to develop the artistic taste of the recipient through dealing with artwork and other artwork.2- The dialectic in form and meaning contributes to the artistic taste of the recipient. As for the goal of the research: The current research aims to define the dialectic of form and meaning in postmodern art.And the limits of the research: 1- Objective limits: The current research is determined by studying (the dialectic in form and meaning in postmodern art) and all the products classified under this art according to its different raw materials and implementation techniques. 2- Temporal borders: (1959-2020). 3- Spatial borders: (Europe - America). As for the second chapter, it included two topics. The first topic dealt with the dialectic between form and meaning, and the second topic included postmodern currents. As for the third chapter, it included research procedures, and the fourth chapter dealt with the conclusions 1- The creativity and innovation of minimalist artists contributed to spreading this art in America and Europe, as it had its mechanisms, methods, and techniques at all artistic levels.2- Leaving the familiar outside and diving deeply into the interior was a concept that minimalist art worked on in all directions, which led to a close relationship between form and meaning in this art.Recommendations1- Acceptance of postmodern art, especially minimalist art, as a systematic course in universities and related art institutions for its artistic, philosophical and scientific importance.2- Enriching libraries with collections of books that document these artistic fields in proportion to the status of culture and art in the eyes of the students of these faculties.Suggestions 1- A comparative study on the reciprocity of forms and meanings between postmodern art trends.2- The interchangeability of form and meaning in contemporary Iraqi art.
