IntroductionMeno's dialogue covers a wide variety of topics, including the discussion of what virtue is, the possibility of inquiry, learning, teaching methods, the relationship between knowledge and ...imagination, and finally the theory of recollection. Discussion of the method of teaching and learning is one of the most important topics in Meno’s dialogue. In the text of this dialogue, important educational points such as the condition of teaching a subject, the method of learning based on recollection, and the dialectical method of Socrates are discussed. Conversation with Meno's paradox plan has shown that learning and inquiry the nature of something is difficult. To solve this problem, Plato spoke of the theory of recollection as to the most original way of learning. MethodThe method in this paper is philosophical-analytical based on Meno’s Text and its interpretations.ResultsThe research aims to design a dialectical method in Meno’s dialogue as the most appropriate method for teaching and learning critically and collaboratively in the educational system. This method is the product of cooperation between the teacher and the learner and will not be possible without the active participation of the learner and his critical attitude towards the learned material.DiscussionMeno’s dialogue can be divided into two separate parts. The focus of the first part of the article is an epistemological question about understanding the nature of virtue. In the second part of the dialogue, Plato focuses on an ontological approach to get rid of the paradox of research and learning and move towards the desired result. In the final part of the dialogue, the theory of recollection. The research question is whether the theory of recollection is the best explanation for the original way of learning? Research claims that the answer is negative for two reasons. First, this theory is not able to cover any learning. Second, this theory contradicts Plato's original theory of the teaching of virtue, in which Plato claimed that any learning requires education and, consequently, a teacher.

Emancipatory politics and the very idea of emancipation have come under pressure. Feminist and post-colonial critiques, the appropriation of emancipatory ideals by right-wing populists and the crises ...triggered by the transgression of planetary boundaries all expose emancipatory paradoxes and raise questions about the further suitability of emancipation as a regulative ideal guiding any socio-ecological transformation of contemporary consumer societies. With this article, which introduces a Special Issue entitled The Dialectic of Emancipation - Transgressing Boundaries and the Boundaries of Transgression, we are working toward a research agenda that acknowledges the current impasse of emancipatory politics and explores its ambivalences and further potentials. Following an outline of the emancipatory paradox and a review of how emancipatory movements have continuously contested – and redrawn – restrictive boundaries, we scan sedimented understandings of the two key terms, emancipation and dialectic, feeding into the concept that we are suggesting as an analytical lens for investigating the current impasse and future prospects of emancipatory politics: the dialectic of emancipation. We preview how the contributors to this Special Issue make use of these terms as they are engaging with this research agenda and conclude by reflecting on the dangers and pitfalls associated with the concept dialectic of emancipation.
In this book two of the leading figures in argumentation theory present a view of argumentation as a means of resolving differences of opinion by testing the acceptability of the disputed positions. ...Their model of a 'critical discussion' serves as a theoretical tool for analysing, evaluating and producing argumentative discourse. They develop a method for the reconstruction of argumentative discourse that takes into account all aspects that are relevant to a critical assessment. They also propose a practical code of behaviour for discussants who want to resolve their differences in a reasonable way. This is a major contribution to the study of argumentation and will be of particular value to professionals and graduate students in speech communication, informal logic, rhetoric, critical thinking, linguistics, and philosophy.
This article aims to (i) describe the dialectic of Islam with local culture in the Matajang community. (2) describe the form of local cultural transformation as a result of dialectics with Islam in ...the Matajang community. This research is qualitative with a single case study design. The research locations are in the Matajang community which includes Labuku Village, Baringeng Village, and Tapong Village and Matakali Village. The research informants consisted of 4 traditional leaders. Data collection used in-depth interviews, observation, and literature studies. Data analysis uses a three-plot technique, namely data reduction, categorization. The results of this study are (1) the dialectic of Islam and local culture has a meeting point in the occult aspect. Both acknowledge the existence of the supernatural and it is in this aspect that Islam is accepted by the Matajang people. (2) The transformation of local ritual culture occurs in several rituals gradually, starting from changes in prayers and matra to changes in some parts of the ritual but the local aspects are still visible. The conclusion of cultural change is a form of negotiating Islamic culture with local culture because not all forms are taken, only those that are appropriate to local characteristics.
Studies examining small firm growth have suggested that growth is complex due to the multitude of internal and external factors that disrupt it. However, in focusing mainly on external factors and ...paying less attention to internal factors, the process of growing - or what is happening inside a small firm as it grows - remains undertheorized. Using findings from a real-time case study of a small firm and insights from the dialectical perspective, we develop a theoretical model that illustrates growth as a dynamic process occurring through dialectic adjustments in response to disruptions that cannot be resolved with routine practices. Our findings suggest that these disruptions trigger one of two situations - potentially converging or potentially diverging - in which individuals must adjust by connecting their insights (converging) or breaking connections (diverging). As such, our findings illustrate the variability in growing, compelling small firms to complexify their internal workings through dialectical adjustments in response to ongoing nonroutine disruptions.
The purpose of this paper is an attempt to delimitate what the dialectical syllogism looks like in Aristotle’s Topics. Aristotle never gave an example of a dialectical syllogism, but we have some ...clues spread over books I and VIII of the Topics which make it possible to understand at least what within a dialectical debate is a dialectical syllogism. The interpretation advanced here distinguishes the logical order of the dialectical argumentation from the order of the debate. This distinction enables us to have a better understand of what is and how the dialectical syllogism is identified in the debate. In addition, we can solve some interpretative difficulties other interpretations could not solve, and have a more solid grasp of how endoxa are used in a dialectical debate.
As organizational environments become more global, dynamic, and competitive, contradictory demands intensify. To understand and explain such tensions, academics and practitioners are increasingly ...adopting a paradox lens. We review the paradox literature, categorizing types and highlighting fundamental debates. We then present a dynamic equilibrium model of organizing, which depicts how cyclical responses to paradoxical tensions enable sustainability—peak performance in the present that enables success in the future. This review and the model provide the foundation of a theory of paradox.
The element of "obstructing or interfering with mining business activities" is the focus of this article, because the editorial has multiple interpretations. Its existence derives two problem ...formulations, namely (1) What are the problems with elements hindering or interfering with mining business activities?: (2) What is the reformulation that reflects democratic principles? The analytical knife used to examine existing problems through democratic principles. This study uses normative juridical research methods. There are several conclusions related to the problematic presence of elements hindering or interfering with mining business activities, including: first, elements hindering or interfering with mining activities can be directed to actions that can be interpreted differently. Second, these elements can be directed to certain interests. Third, these elements can be subjective. Fourth, it is counterproductive to provisions for environmental fighters who cannot be sued criminally or civilly. The reformulations that are expected to better reflect democratic principles include: first, providing a more detailed explanation regarding the redaction of elements hindering or disrupting mining activities. Second, changing the editorial elements hinders or disrupts mining business activities. Third, remove the redaction elements that hinder or interfere with this mining business activity.
