Developing circular economy capability has emerged as an effective response to environmental pressures on firms. The proliferation of digital technology has created uncertainty in developing ...corporate circular economy capability. Although research has begun to focus on the impact of digital technology application on corporate circular economy capability, empirical evidence remains absent. Simultaneously, few studies have concerned corporate circular economy capability obtained from supply chain management. The answer to the correlation between digital technology application, supply chain management, and circular economy capability is unavailable in current research. Based on a dynamic capability view, we investigate how digital technology application affects corporate circular economy capability through supply chain management regarding supply chain risk management, collaboration, and integration. This underlying mechanism was verified with 486 Chinese-listed industrial firms and the mediating model. The findings demonstrate that digital technology application and supply chain management significantly affect corporate circular economy capability. The mediating channel whereby the digital technology application provides circular economy capability can facilitate the positive impact of supply chain risk management and collaboration while undermining the adverse effects of supply chain integration. These mediating channels differentiate in heterogeneous growth firms and are more pronounced in low-growth groups. It presents an opportunity to use digital technology to reinforce the positive impact of supply chain risk management and collaboration and mitigate the negative effect of supply chain integration on circular economy capability.

New digital technologies have transformed the nature of uncertainty inherent in entrepreneurial processes and outcomes as well as the ways of dealing with such uncertainty. This has raised important ...questions at the intersection of digital technologies and entrepreneurship—on digital entrepreneurship. We consider two broad implications—less bounded entrepreneurial processes and outcomes and less predefined locus of entrepreneurial agency—and advance a research agenda that calls for the explicit theorizing of concepts related to digital technologies. In articulating the promise and value of such a digital technology perspective, we consider how it would build on and enrich existing entrepreneurship theories.
Digital technologies are changing the nature of teamwork in ways that have important implications for leadership. Though conceptually rich and multi-disciplinary, much of the burgeoning work on ...technology has not been fully integrated into the leadership literature. To fill this gap, we organize existing work on leadership and technology, outlining four perspectives: (1) technology as context, (2) technology as sociomaterial, (3) technology as creation medium, and (4) technology as teammate. Each technology perspective makes assumptions about how technologies affect teams and the needs for team leadership. Within each perspective, we detail current work on leading teams. This section takes us from virtual teams to new vistas posed by leading online communities, crowds, peer production groups, flash teams, human-robot teams, and human-artificial intelligence teams. We identify 12 leadership implications arising from the ways digital technologies affect organizing. We then leverage our review to identify directions for future leadership research and practice.

This paper investigates the relationship between the COVID-19 pandemic and digital technology with specific focus on the elderly who are acknowledged as being the most vulnerable group in this global ...health emergency. The paper commences by providing a global context through a brief analysis of both the pandemic spread and digital technology take-up. Clarification is provided for digital divide terminology. Actions and inactions relating to grey digital outcasts are analysed through a snapshot study, using a heuristic approach, of ten countries, including China, the U.K. and U.S. Sources include published papers and articles, newspapers, TV broadcasts, blogs and a qualitative survey. These analyses are used to tease out common global themes and issues. The paper concludes with a derived set of guiding principles which lays the foundation for a global response to address the support of grey digital outcasts particularly in times of crisis.
Purpose
Despite the growing importance of digital innovation conceptualized as innovative digital solutions that enable digital transformation of businesses across industries, empirical study of ...factors related to digital innovation is still scant, creating a knowledge gap. To fill this gap, this paper aims to examine the effect of digital orientation and digital capability on digital innovation, and also the mediating effect of digital innovation on the link between organizational performance and digital orientation as well as digital capability.
Design/methodology/approach
This study tests a new conceptual framework using a survey data of 105 small to medium-sized IT firms in Malaysia and employing structural equation model (SEM) analysis from partial least square (PLS) approach.
Findings
The results show that digital orientation and digital capability have positive effect on digital innovation and also that digital innovation mediates the effect of technology orientation and digital capability on financial and non-financial performance.
Practical implications
The findings encourage the firms to take the opportunity of emerging digital technologies and digitalization trend in industries by being committed toward embracing new digital technologies and upgrading their digital capabilities to become innovation leaders and also to boost firms’ performance.
Originality/value
This study is one of the first studies that explain how emerging digital technologies can be leveraged to create innovative digital products and services and subsequently boost their business performance. It also fills the literature gaps related to driving factors of digital innovation and mediating role of digital innovation on the link between its driving factors and performance.
The digitization, digitalization, and datafication of work and communication, coupled with social and technical infrastructures that enable connectivity, are making it increasingly easy for the ...behaviors of people, collectives, and technological devices to see and be seen. Such digital connectivity gives rise to the important phenomenon of behavioral visibility. We argue that studying the antecedents, processes, and consequences of behavioral visibility should be a central concern for scholars of organizing. We attempt to set the cornerstones for the study of behavioral visibility by considering the social and technological contexts that are enabling behavioral visibility, developing the concept of behavioral visibility by defining its various components, considering the conditions through which it is commonly produced, and outlining potential consequences of behavioral visibility in the form of three paradoxes. We conclude with some conjectures about the kinds of research questions, empirical foci, and methodological strategies that scholars will need to embrace in order to understand how behavioral visibility shapes and is shaped by the process of organizing as we catapult, swiftly, into an era where artificial intelligence, learning algorithms, and social tools are changing the way people work.
The ubiquity and pervasiveness of digital technologies in modern societies portend a new type of conflict, a hyper-war of conflicting narratives, concepts and ideas. This multi-dimensional physical, ...virtual and cognitive battlespace is challenging the Westphalian model of multi-domain but mono-dimensional physical battle: it is moving conflict beyond the digital augmentation of Industrial Age platforms, into a new post-digital era. In this think piece, Martin Crilly reflects on how UK Defence will require imagination, ingenuity and inspiring leaders to successfully navigate this transition. ◼
