Although 62 per cent of respondents are shocked by the recordings, 30 per cent are not upset. The latter figure is greater than the PO's number of supporters. The fact that someone declares ...themselves to be shocked does not automatically mean that he or she will shift their support to a party other than the PO. The majority of those who have decided to stick by Prime Minister Donald Tusk's party (57 per cent) are shocked by the recordings. The dominant response among supporters of other parties is also one of outrage. The highest proportion of outraged respondents is found among the SLD's Democratic Left Alliance supporters (85 per cent). The situation is similar among those who support junior coalition partner PSL Polish Peasant Party (75 per cent) and the opposition PiS Law and Justice (76 per cent). These people probably agree with the messages of both of the aforementioned parties' leaders. Jaroslaw Kaczynski speaks of a "multi-party establishment" that he says is made up of the PO, SLD, PSL, and Your Movement. On the other hand, Korwin-Mikke uses the term "band of four" to refer to the PO, SLD, PSL, and the PiS (instead of Janusz Palikot's party). "When Wprost released the first tape, I checked what the SLD's situation had looked like following the outbreak of the Rywin scandal," says Rafal Matyja. He points out that, at that time, the ratings of Leszek Miller's party had not fallen by four per cent as they have in the PO's case right now. "A poll conducted by OBOP even showed a rise in support for the SLD a month after the first article was published about the scandal," the political scientist notes. Matyja believes that the details of scandals that act to heat up the public debate take a while to reach the general population.
