The approach to peace-building is explored on two levels. The first is to see peace-building as the product of reconstructing political society so that it becomes more transnational, not only in the ...sense of having greater diversity, but also in distributing decisional powers more broadly. A necessary condition for constructing a transnational society is to create the ties of communicative status across the borders of communities. In Northern Ireland, these borders were religious, and the multi-track processes across the boundaries of conflict helped to produce the ties that supported the settlement. In many cases, the construction of a transnational society with its own norms and forms of interaction and communication is facilitated by various intermediaries, such as the peace networks in Northern Ireland that cut across religious difference. Second, on this same model, a global multilevel dialogue about peace and justice also seems possible, especially as transnational public spheres expand the scope of interaction, and this process is also aided by the emergence of new intermediaries such as the World Social Forum. Such intermediaries are not the only way in which transnational forums are created; indeed various formal institutions may act as forums, including various international courts in which debates about the scope and applications of international criminal, humanitarian and human rights norms are worked out publicly in deliberation.

Creating and developing a partnership between schools and families is a topic of many discussions among the scholars in the field of education, so the partnership with the parents is necessary to ...raise the quality in education because the family plays an important role in the process of learning and children’s development. The partnership seems to be more necessary at the time when distance learning occurred lately which was imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is important to pay attention to the forms of communication that are applied by school directors and teachers in relation to the parents, as well as to understand the planning and the realization of the partnership for the meetings and the reasons of organizing those discussions between teachers and parents during a school year in both junior and senior high schools. Through the data analysis it has been understood that application of the suitable forms of communication has a positive impact in school-family partnership and school-family partnership is more satisfying in junior high schools than in senior high schools. It is concluded that direct forms of partnership must be planned and applied in both junior and senior high schools considering that they induce positive results in problem solving and decision making together with the parents. Also, there must be strategies to increase school-family partnership especially in the senior high school education in order to make parents and teachers aware of the importance of the partnership in special situations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mathematics programmes in basic education are currently undergoing reform in Portugal. This paper sets out to see how teachers are putting the new guidelines for the teaching of mathematics into ...practice, with particular emphasis on maths communication in the classroom. To achieve this, an experiment in teaching the topic 'Sequences and Regularities' with open-ended tasks, using a qualitative and interpretative approach, is reported. Data were collected during two class observations, from two interviews and by analysing the activities of the students. An exploratory task was chosen in the first lesson and a investigative one in the second. One month separated the two lessons, and during this time the teacher read and discussed texts on mathematics communication. Observation of the first lesson showed that the communication in the classroom was mostly focused on the teacher, which provided little student-student and student-class interaction. In the second observed lesson, the teacher changed the attention she paid to what each student said and did, encouraging the students to ask each other and encouraged student-class and the student-student communication.
