The aim of the paper is to highlight, if not all, then at least the most important benefits of the application of mathematical modeling in the development of a new solution or in the process of ...improvement and the optimization of an existing product. The thesis presents the basic principles of the model creation without providing a detailed mathematical interpretation of the process; therefore, the model includes a substantial number of unknown or approximately known parameters and it is not possible to create a model of the transparent cybernetic box type. In order to achieve a synthesis of the model and the experimental results, it is necessary to apply the optimization methods for the identification of unknown model parameters. The thesis presents the experimental results along with the results of modeling and identification as well as the analysis of the process of identification of unknown model parameters. / Целью работы является подчеркивание преимуществ при применении математического моделирования в проектировании и разработке новых решений или оптимизации существующего объекта. Представлены основные принципы моделирования без изложения подробной математической модели, из чего следует, что модель включает в себя множество неизвестных или приблизительно известных параметров, соответственно модель прозрачного кибернетического ящика исключается. Для того чтобы достичь синтеза моделей и экспериментальных результатов необходимо применение методов оптимизации для идентификации неизвестных параметров модели. В статье представлены экспериментальные результаты наряду с результатами моделирования, а также анализ результатов процесса идентификации неизвестных параметров модели. / Cilj rada je da se istaknu, ako ne sve, a ono bar najvažnije prednosti koje donosi primena matematičkog modeliranja tokom projektovanja novog rešenja ili usavršavanja i optimizacije postojećeg objekta. Izloženi su osnovni principi izrade modela bez iznošenja detaljne matematičke interpretacije procesa iz čega sledi da model sadrži veći broj nepoznatih ili orjentaciono poznatih parametara i da nije moguće realizovati model tipa prozirne kibernetičke kutije. Da bi se ostvarila sinteza modela i eksperimentalnih rezultata neophodna je primena optimizacionih metoda za identifikaciju nepoznatih parametara modela. U radu su navedeni eksperimentalni rezultati uporedo sa rezultatima modeliranja i identifikacije kao i analiza postupka identifikacije nepoznatih parametara modela.

This paper provides a detailed presentation of the latest generation of common rail systems operating at high pressure together with problems regarding diesel fuel filtration. / За последние годы заметно возросло развитие современных систем впрыска дизельного топлива, под названием „common rail“. Наряду с развитием данных систем необходимо одновременно следить за соответстующим развитием вспомогательных систем, которые обеспечивают их правильную и эффективную работу. В данной статье подробно описаны последние поколения common rail систем, которые работают под высоким давлением, а также обсуждаются вопросы фильтрирования дизельного топлива, и подчеркнута проблема загрязнения окружающей среды от промышленного топлива. / Savremeni sistemi za ubrizgavanje dizel goriva, pod nazivom 'common rail' poslednjih nekoliko godina se naglo razvijaju. Uporedo sa razvojem ovih sistema potrebno je istovremeno pratiti i određeni razvoj pomoćnih sistema koji se koriste za njihov pravilan i efikasan rad. U radu je detaljno opisana poslednja generacija common rail sistema koji rade sa visokim radnim pritiscima. Naveden je i problem filtriranja dizel-goriva i izdvajanja nepoželjnih kontaminanata u pogonskom gorivu.
U pridobivanju drva u BiH, u fazi sječe i izrade, motorna pila lančanica predstavlja glavno sredstvo rada. Cilj istraživanja je utvrditi potrošnju goriva i maziva motornih pila Husqvarna 365 i Dolmar ...PS – 7310, pri sječi i izradi šumskih drvnih sortimenata na području P.J. Šumarija „Zavidovići“, odjel 203. Kod mjerenja potrošnje goriva i maziva korištena je volumetrijska metoda s preciznim određivanjem sadržaja goriva i maziva u spremnicima motorne pile. U sklopu istraživanja ukupno je posječeno 140 stabala hrasta kitnjaka (po 70 stabala je posječeno sa motornim pilama Husqvarna 365 i Dolmar PS – 7310). Prsni promjer posječenih stabala kretao se od 15 do 84 cm, dok se visina posječenih stabala kretala u rasponu od 10,3 do 37,2 metara. Ukupni obujam izrađenih sortimenata iznosio je 180,11 m3. Izmjerena prosječna potrošnja goriva po obujmu izrađenih sortimenata za stabla koja su posječena motornom pilom Husqvarna 365 iznosi 0,306 L/m3 i veća je za 0,042 L/m3 u odnosu na motornu pilu Dolmar PS – 7310, sa potrošnjom od 0,264 L/m3. Prosječna potrošnja maziva izrađenih sortimenata za stabla posječena motornom pilom Husqvarna 365 iznosi 0,102 L/m3 i veća je za 0,012 L/m3 u odnosu na motorn pilu Dolmar PS – 7310, sa prosječnom potrošnjom 0,09 L/m3. Na osnovi provedenih istraživanja može se zaključiti da za dane uvjete rada postoje razlike u potrošnji goriva i maziva između ova dva tipa motornih pila, a koje statistički nisu značajne.
In this paper, a simple but efficient Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA) II based technique is proposed for optimizing the Degree of Hybridization (DOH) in parallel passenger hybrid cars. ...The authors' objective is to improve performance, maximize fuel economy and at the same time, minimize mass and emissions as much as possible, by optimal selection of DOH. The NSGA-II, which is a multi-objective optimization algorithm, is applied to optimize this multiple objective problem. The ADvanced VehIcle SimulatOR (ADVISOR) software is used as simulation tool. To validate high efficiency of proposed methodology, necessary simulations have been carried out on a small-size test car. The results indicates that the proposed methodology is very fast and efficient and can be well applied to any other types of Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs).

In the future and across the developed and emerging markets of the world, the range of fuels used will significantly increase as biofuels, new fossil fuel feedstock and processing methods, as well as variations in fuel standards continue to influence all combustion technologies used now and in coming streams. This presents a challenge requiring better understanding of how the fuel mix influences the combustion processes in various systems. The book allows extremes of the theme to be covered in a simple yet progressive way.
Članak se osvrće na ključna pitanja koja utječu na vrijeme rada i performanse gorivih ćelija s polimernom membranom kao elektrolitom. Kratak životni vijek gorivih ćelija takve vrste prepreka je ...njihovoj komercijalizaciji i masovnoj upotrebi u mobilnim i stacionarnim stanicama. Budući da su gorive ćelije komplicirani sustavi potrebno je znanje iz raznih područja kemije, elektrotehnike i mehanike da bi se u potpunosti mogao razumjeti njihov način rada i problemi koji se događaju. Upravo je zbog toga multidisciplinarni pristup nužnost pri razvoju sustava koji koriste gorive ćelije. Ovaj je članak usmjeren prema identifikaciji i rješavanju onih problema koji negativno utječu na životni vijek i performanse gorivih ćelija. Autori se nadaju da će se članak pokazati kao korisna pomoć i vodič istraživačima i inženjerima u domeni učinske elektronike pri susretu s navedenim problemima. Objašnjen je način rada i struktura gorive ćelije s polimernom membranom kao elektrolitom. Izložena su, i diskutirana do u detalje, tri glavna problema sa stajališta trenutačnih spoznaja u području učinske elektronike. Ti problemi su: loše upravljanje vodom, nestanak reaktantnog plina i strujni trzaji u gorivim ćelijama. Objašnjeno je zašto se ovi problemi događaju, kako utječu na gorivu ćeliju, kako ih se može spriječiti i koje su buduće perspektive istraživanja.
In this paper a coordinated master control for a solid fuel power plant has been developed and the performance evaluated in terms of tracking capability, stability and robustness. The control ...strategy has been model-based predictive control (MPC) and it was evaluated on a nonlinear process model of the Vattenfall power plant Idbäcken in Nyköping, Sweden. The developed master MPC with gain scheduling has better performance compared to the existing PID controller which has been thoroughly studied and tuned in a previous project. The robustness of the proposed master MPC controller against common disturbances and parameter variation has been investigated and it shows that the proposed controller is more robust than the existing PID controller.
Predložen je sustav/prijenosnik koji je sposobano natjerati pogonski stroj da ostvaruje minimalnu potrošnju goriva za svaku brzinu vrtnje vratila i sve uvjete rada gonjenog stroja ili pogonskog ...člana/kotača. Primijenjen u hibridnim vozilima, omogućava još i optimalnu raspodjelu snage između pogonske baterije i motora s unutrašnjim izgaranjem.
Onečišćenje atmosfere i globalno zagrijavanje više nije marginalna tema. Treba odati ogromno priznanje pojedincima diljem svijeta koji se bore s posljedicama ovog više nego ozbiljnog problema. ...Vijesti o budućim klimatskim trendovima sve više obiluju uskličnicima, a sve manje upitnicima. Obimna višegodišnja istraživanja kemizma atmosfere ukazuju na svu složenost i nepredvidivost sustava, a nebrojeni izvori njezina onečišćenja predstavljaju samo dio ukupne slike. Najnovija znanstvena izvješća prožeta su zebnjom da je ljudska civilizacija dosegla rub ponora zbog svog sebičnog i nepromišljenog ponašanja prema Zemlji. Neupitna je potreba za hitnom i neodgodivom suradnjom svih dionika s ciljem rješavanja, ili barem ublažavanja ovog gorućeg problema. Svrha ovog rada je dvojaka: 1/ objasniti osnovni mehanizam učinka staklenika te 2/ predstaviti najveće izvore onečišćenja atmosfere (s naglaskom na toplinskom otpadu, eng. heat waste, povezanom s potrošnjom fosilnih goriva), ali i neke manje poznate, no ne manje važne probleme, npr. kako digitalna revolucija utječe na stanje okoliša te kako neodgovorno zbrinjavanje otpada utječe na klimatske promjene. Cilj rada je potaknuti na promišljanje o razmjerima ovdje izloženih problema onečišćenja okoliša te hitnosti njihova rješavanja, ne sutra, nego već danas, jer znanost zna da je dragocjeno vrijeme prokockano.
This article focuses on the main issues that affect the lifetime and performance of proton-exchange membrane fuel cells. The short lifespans of these fuel cells represent a barrier to their massive ...commercialization and usage in mobile and stationary applications. As fuel cell is a very complex system, a lot of knowledge of different areas is required, such as chemistry, electricity and mechanics, in order to completely understand its operation and all the problems that can occur during it. It is for this reason that an interdisciplinary approach needs to be taken when designing fuel-cell energy systems. This paper focuses on identifying and solving those issues that negatively affect the lifetime and performance of fuel cells. It is hoped that this article would be a valuable aid for power electronics' researchers and engineers for better understanding the presented issues and a useful guide for solving them with the use of proper power electronic-devices. Initially, the basic operation and structure of a proton-exchange membrane fuel cell is explained. Three main issues that can occur during operation of a mobile or stationary fuel cell energy system are pointed out and discussed in details, on the basis of the state-of-the-art on fuel cell technology. These issues are poor water management, reactant gas starvation and fuel cell current ripple. This article provides answers as to why they occur, how they affect the fuel cell, how they can be mitigated, and what are the future trends within this research field.
