Parambassis serrata, a new species of glassperch from the Kolo River, Kaladan drainage, Mizoram, India is described. It is distinguished from its congeners by the combination of characters that ...includes: presence of a faint, vertically-elongated brown humeral blotch; posterior margin of most spines of first dorsal fin proximally blackish; 14-16 dorsal and anal-fin branched rays; a black longitudinal stripe on ventral surface of caudal peduncle; absence of predorsal scales; a serrated preopercular ridge; 51-56 scales in lateral series; and 11 pectoral-fin rays.
Humanitarian society of Kolo Srpskih Sestara, founded in Belgrade in 1903, directed its main goal towards helping the Serbian people living in the Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian Empire. In 1906, the ...society started printing its annual calendar, simbolically named Vardar. Its content was adjusted to their main mission, as well as the literary works and illustrations which were published. In 1908, with the position of Serbian people changing in Old Serbia and Macedonia, the emphasis was moved to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The positions of Serbs in these territories became the main subject of the calendar. Many letters were sent to the editorial office from Sarajevo, Banja Luka and other places. Every opportunity was used for a closer contact and exchange of information. This is why the members of the society of Kolo Srpskih Sestara sent their managing member and founder Delfa Ivanić to the funeral of famous Adelina Irbi in Sarajevo in 1911. She travelled along with Živojin Dačić, secretary of organization Narodna odbrana (National Defense), so they used their visit to Sarajevo and Banja Luka for other activities, naturally under the watchful eye of the Austro-Hungarian authorities. The editorial staff of Vardar kept tight connections with Nikola Kašiković, editor of Bosanska Vila, as well as with the members of the Humanitarian Collectives of Serbian Women in Sarajevo and Banja Luka.
We consider interruptible electricity contracts issued by an electricity retailer that allow for interruptions to electric service in exchange for either an overall reduction in the price of ...electricity delivered or for financial compensation at the time of interruption. We provide a structural model to determine electricity prices based on stochastic models of supply and demand. We use stochastic dynamic programming to value interruptible contracts from the point of view of an electricity retailer, and describe the optimal interruption strategy. We also demonstrate that structural models can be used to value contracts in competitive markets. Our numerical results indicate that, in a deregulated market, interruptible contracts can help alleviate supply problems associated with spikes of price and demand and that competition between retailers results in lower value and less frequent interruption.
Vistulian deposits which fill the Warta River valley were studied in the open pits Koźmin North (Kwiatków) and
Koźmin (South) of the “Adamów” Lignite Mine. The studies were conducted due to the ...possibility of analysing fluvial deposits of a big lowland river close to the axis of the valley, in profiles which reach a pre-Vistulian background. The aim of the research was to establish the phases of deposition and hydrodynamic conditions during the accumulation. In the studied
profiles, seven depositional units have been distinguished, and one of them – the thickest – was divided into seven subunits. The results of the grain size analysis were used to calculate the Folk and Ward coefficients, as the basis for interpretations of
differentiation in sedimentary environment dynamics. The deposition, which took place from the end of the Middle Plenivistulian to the Late Vistulian, was characterized by cyclic, but rather mild, transitions from rather high energetic to low energetic conditions. During the Late Vistulian and Holocene, alluvium has been accumulated in two clearly distinguishing facies:
channel and overbank, with high content of organic matter.
Knowledge of water transmitting properties of an aquifer is crucial for successful groundwater development and management practices in an area. In this study, the determination of aquifer hydraulic ...characteristics at Yenagoa and environs from Dar Zarrouk parameters was carried out using 14 vertical electrical sounding data (VES) and information from existing boreholes. The Schlumberger electrode configuration was employed for the field data acquisition with a maximum half electrode separation (AB/2) ranging between 100 and 350 m. The VES data were interpreted using 1D inversion technique software (1X1D, Interpex, USA). A maximum of four geoelectric layers were delineated and the aquifer is characterized by loose sand with resistivity ranging from 136.1 to 828.6 Ωm and thickness of 8.3–97.6 m. Using the VES results and water resistivity, porosity was determined using modified Archie’s equation. The hydraulic conductivity (
K
) values obtained from three reference boreholes were combined with the electrical resistivity obtained from the respective nearby VES stations to determine a diagnostic constant (
Kρ
). The resulting relation was interpreted with Dar Zarrouk parameters to infer the hydraulic conductivity (
K
) and transmissivity (
T
) variations at vertical electrical sounding locations, where
K
values are unknown. The results indicate that porosity varies between 0.09 and 0.32. The hydraulic conductivities range from 0.8 × 10

to 6.6 × 10

m/s while the transmissivity values vary between 1.1 × 10

and 29.6 × 10

/s. The high transmissivity values are consistent with the aquifer being unconsolidated with fine–medium–coarse sands.
Kolorektal hastalık için laparoskopik cerrahi açık cerrahi ile karşılaştırıldığında postoperatif iyileşmeyi artırdığı gösterilmiştir. Özellikle, çalışmalar laparoskopik tekniklerin postoperatif ağrı ...ve iyileşme süresini azalttığı, postoperatif analjezi ihtiyacını azalttığı ve açık cerrahi ile karşılaştırıldığında normal aktivitelerine daha hızlı bir geri dönüş sağlayabildiğini öne sürmektedir. Kronik kramp tarzında karın ağrısı olan 38 yaşındaki kadın hastanın inen kolonda intusepsiyona neden olan dev lipomu vardı. Lipom kolonoskopi ile tespit edildi ve histolojik incelemede lipom tanısı konuldu, takiben elektif koşullarda tek port laparoskopik sol kolektomi ile ameliyat edildi. İntraoperatif ve postoperatif komplikasyon gelişmedi. Hasta postoperatif dördüncü günde sorunsuz olarak taburcu edildi.
Laparoscopic surgery for colorectal disease has been shown to improve postoperative healing compared with open surgery. Specifically, studies suggest that laparoscopic techniques can reduce postoperative pain and recovery time, reduce the need for postoperative analgesia, and allow a more rapid return to normal activities compared with open surgery. A series of cases have been reported in the literature concerning the success rate of single-incision laparoscopic colectomy used in the treatment of benign or malign colorectal disease. A 38-year-old female patient having chronic cramping abdominal pain, who\'s descending colon included a giant lipoma causing intussusceptions. Lipoma was detected by colonoscopy, the histological examination revealed lipoma and then was operated with single port laparoscopic left colectomy in elective conditions. No intraoperative and postoperative complications occurred. The operation time was 105 minutes. The wound size was 2.5 cm. The patient was discharged uneventfully on postoperative day four.
Šetana kola zajednički je naziv za kola koja se izvode uz napjeve na pripovjedne tekstove ili dvostihove bez instrumentalne pratnje. To su zatvorena ili otvorena kola koja u dva reda izvode pjevači ...krećući se jednostavnim korakom polaganog ili brzog tempa u smjeru kazaljke na satu. Ovo su najstarija kola u Hrvatskoj i u Europi o kojima postoje podaci još iz 18. stoljeća. U 20. stoljeću ona postepeno nestaju u spontanoj izvedbi jer pripovjedne tekstove potiskuju dvostisi iz istočne Slavonije i Srijema. Razlog je nestanka i njihova duljina, stoga nisu bila primjerena izvedbama na smotrama na kojima su se KUD-ovi trebali predstaviti u kratkom vremenskom okviru. Do 2016. godine autorica je snimila više od 200 izvedbi šetanih kola, najviše u zapadnom dijelu slavonske Posavine, sakupila nekoliko zbirki i tekstova od zapisivača na terenu, predstavila ih na izložbi Slavonija, Baranja i Srijem 2009. godine u Klovićevim dvorima, osnovala smotru koja je u četiri navrata održana u različitim mjestima Slavonije, izradila projekt putem kojih su upisana u Registar kulturnih dobara Republike Hrvatske. Autorica u ovome radu predstavlja šetana kola u pisanim izvorima od 18. do 21. stoljeća.
Fish species have been used to compare the ecological characteristics of two surface waters in the same geo-ecological zones of the Central Niger Delta. The authors carried out 24 ecological ...expeditions along the Kolo and Otuoke Creeks in the Study Area for the purpose of comparing the ecological characteristics of these two surface waters that are in the same geo-ecological zone. Duplicate ecological surveys were conducted across three fishing seasons in the Study Area, and the traditional eco-livelihoods knowledge of experienced fishermen was explored during the survey to ensure that the surveys captured the spatial and temporal variation of fish species distribution of these creeks. The result of our study shows that there was no significant statistical ecological differences between the Kolo and Otuoke Creeks based on the following ecological indices: relative species percentage abundance; species richness; species diversity index; Shannon diversity index; and Simpson diversity index. Furthermore, the Bray-Curtis similarity index was used to demonstrate that the two surface waters were ecologically significantly similar. The implication of our findings is that the ecological attributes of surface water in the same geo-ecological zone are not significantly different in the absence of major environmental noise or human induced stress.
