This paper presents the most important information about the mysterious Zagreb phase of Irina Aleksander-Kunjina’s biography, her role in Croatian interwar literature, and her relations with vital figures of the Croatian literary scene of that time. An overview of her literary contributions in Croatian literary journals will also be presented. Apart from the evaluation of her role in the interwar literary scene, the aim of this paper is to shed light on her writing in Croatian and the reception of her activity and works in Croatian literary milieu. Although she did receive attention among the literary public, this was more due to her public persona than her literary work. Furthermore, this paper aims to offer an summary of her position in Croatian literary history in the first half of the 20th century and her importance in the history of Croatian-Slavic literary relations.
The Simon Editions Kra publishing house, based in Paris, launched a series in the late 1920s concerning the literary history of various nations, titled Panoramas des Littérature Contemporaines. ...Preceding Scandinavian and Balkan literatures, the Hungarian literary history was published in May 1930 in French, with the above mentioned title, written by two authors from Debrecen, professor János Hankiss and secondary school teacher Géza Juhász. The volume managed to attract and keep up the interest of the national literary public for over half a year; forty reviews, reports, debates and corresponding articles were produced in response. Among the authors were Mihály Babits, György Bálint, Pál Ignotus, Attila József, Sándor Márai, etc. Two other teachers from Debrecen, László Kardos and Pál Kardos published their views on the 348-page volume in a 24-page separate booklet in Debreceni Szemle. The authors began with the explanation of the book’s content-editorial principles, emphasising that the book is only a panoramic overview, thus it is “not a report on the contemporary Hungarian literary hierarchy and its inner merits, but merely aims to attract interest in Hungarian literature”. The debates around the Panoramas reflect the divided nature of the contemporary Hungarian over-politicising intellectual life: the liberal and left-wing papers criticise the volume for satisfying course demands and for its anti-Semitism, which they despise, right-wing papers, on the other hand, appraise the work.
Davor Dukić, in hrvaški slovenist in južnoslovanskí komparativist prof. dr.
Modernism valorizes the marginal, the exile, the "other"—yet we tend to use writing from the most commonly read European languages (English, French, German) as examples of this marginality. Chana ...Kronfeld counters these dominant models of marginality by looking instead at modernist poetry written in two decentered languages, Hebrew and Yiddish. What results is a bold new model of literary dynamics, one less tied to canonical norms, less limited geographically, and less in danger of universalizing the experience of minority writers.
Kronfeld examines the interpenetrations of modernist groupings through examples of Hebrew and Yiddish poetry in Europe, the U.S., and Israel. Her discussions of Amichai, Fogel, Raab, Halpern, Markish, Hofshteyn, and Sutskever will be welcomed by students of modernism in general and Hebrew and Yiddish literatures in particular.

Moretti discusses the relationship, between the quantitative literary history of the past twenty years, and the older hermeneutic tradition. For many in the interpretive camp, the two approaches are ...incompatible, and the newer one has little or no critical value; for most quantitative researchers, they are instead perfectly compatible, and in fact complementary. Moretti proposes a third possibility that will emerge step by step from a comparison of how the two strategies work.
