This study aims to determine whether or not there is an influence of LOK-R (Literacy, Orientation, Collaboration, Reflection) learning strategies on scientific literacy skills. This type of research ...includes pre-experimental research with a one-group pre-test and post-test research design. This research was conducted at MI Islamiyah Kalimukti with a sample of 15 students. Data were collected by conducting a pre-test to determine students' initial scientific literacy skills and a post-test to determine the increase in students' scientific literacy abilities after implementing the LOK-R learning strategy. Research data were analyzed using descriptive and quantitative analysis. The n-gain study showed an increase in the average pretest and posttest results. Before implementing the LOK-R learning strategy, the average pretest of students was 56.47; then, it increased to 81.33 in the posttest results of students after implementing the LOK-R learning strategy. Likewise, the paired sample test results obtained a significant value of 0.000 <0.05, which means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This shows that applying the LOK-R learning strategy increases students' scientific literacy skills. Therefore, the LOK-R learning strategy can be an alternative in science learning activities on heat material and its transfer.
India's 2009 Elections is an inquiry into the 15th General Elections of India. It explores how the elections played out, what factors influenced the electorate, and how the elections are an important ...contribution to India's democracy.Authored by renowned scholars and analysts from various backgrounds, the collection of articles critically examines multiple areas of the Indian polity:Coalition and alliance politics, representation, national integration, and women's participation; Dominant party, competitive two-party and multi-party states including Gujarat, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, and the northeast states; Caste, tribal, and ethnic politicsAccording to the contributors, the public outcome of the 2009 elections indicated a demand for integrity, continuity, and competence—values that were considered almost obsolete in today's political scenario. At the same time, the contributors admit to problems in structure, providing for minority cultures, stability, and contentious public policy issues.
Background: Ureteral injury is one of the most common anatomical complications during total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH). And most ureteral injuries resulted from electrosurgery and were ...recognized postoperatively. To avoid thermal damage to the ureter during TLH, we evaluated the feasibility and safety of vessel ligation using the Hem-o-lok clip. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 480 patients who underwent TLH. Hem-o-lok clips were used to ligate both uterine vessels. If the patient underwent unilateral or bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, the gonadal vessels were also ligated by using Hem-o-lok clips. Clinical outcomes including perioperative and postoperative complications were evaluated. Results: Perioperative complications were reported in six patients, with four cases of stump dehiscence and two cases of bladder injury. All bladder injuries were found during the operation and repaired. None of the patients experienced ureter injury or vessel rebleeding. Conclusions: Vessel ligation by Hem-o-lok clips in TLH is a safe method for ligating vessels and avoiding unexpected ureteral injury. Prospective studies are needed to confirm the real clinical benefit of this surgical approach.
2024 has been a year of elections around the world, including the developed nations—the USA, the UK, the European Union and the Russian Federation alongside countries like India, Mexico, Pakistan, ...Bangladesh, Iran (the Islamic Republic of), South Africa, Republic of Korea (South Korea), Algeria, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Ghana, Mozambique, Madagascar, Venezuela, (the Bolivarian Republic of), Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea), Taiwan, Syrian Arab Republic, Mali, Sri Lanka, Romania, Chad, Senegal, Cambodia, Rwanda, Tunisia, Belgium, Dominic Republic, Jordan, South Sudan, Czechia (Czech Republic), Azerbaijan, Portugal, Belarus, Togo, Austria, El Salvador, Slovakia, Finland, Mauritania, Panama, Croatia, Georgia, Mongolia, Uruguay, Republic of Moldova, Lithuania Botswana, Namibia, Guinea Bissau and North Macedonia. This editorial is devoted to the verdict of India’s General Election 2024. The results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections have trickled in by defying most of the expectations of the exit polls. The graph of the results projected a different picture, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) grabbing 293 seats in the 543-member Parliament. At the same time, the coalition of opposition parties, collectively known as the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), accomplished 234, which is 38 less than the required majority. As a twist in the election results, the regional parties made significant gains in many states. Congress bagged a strong revival, which was hugely attributed to the Bharat Jodo Yatra and Nyay Yatra under the architect of Mr Rahul Gandhi. Nevertheless, with its allies, BJP-led NDA is on board as Modi 3.0 leads the largest democracy.
Background
Many techniques have been proposed to address post‐extraction ridge resorption, which often represents a concern, especially in the esthetic region.
Purpose
The purpose of the present, ...prospective, multicenter, single cohort study was to investigate, up to 1 year of function, the effectiveness of a protocol for alveolar ridge preservation involving implants with laser‐microgrooved surface immediately placed in fresh extraction sockets.
Materials and Methods
Twenty eight patients candidate to tooth extraction in the esthetic zone (site 15–25 and 35–45) were treated by immediate placement of a single laser‐microgrooved implants with the adjunct of a highly porous anorganic porcine bone mineral matrix and a collagen wound dressing. Peri‐implant marginal bone level (MBL) was evaluated at time of loading, 3 and 12 months after loading. Gingival index, plaque index, probing depth, and bleeding on probing were measured at 3, 6, and 12 months after loading. Dimensional changes at implant sites were digitally evaluated using the best‐fit superimposition of pre‐and post‐socket preservation models. Implant aesthetic score (IAS) as well as patients' post‐operative quality of life were also evaluated at 12 months. Comparisons between data relative to thick and thin gingival phenotypes were made using Student's t‐test or Mann–Whitney test, as appropriate. The significance level was set at p = 0.05.
Results
No patient dropped out, and 28 implants were evaluated at 12 months post‐loading. The overall MBL was found to be 0.92 ± 1.11 mm. Volumetric analysis of superimposed models showed an alveolar bone tissue displacement at the buccal aspect of −0.57 ± 0.52 mm in thin phenotypes and −0.46 ± 0.31 mm in thick phenotypes (p = 0.58, unpaired Student's t‐test). No signs of soft tissue recession or esthetically unpleasant buccal gingiva were reported.
Conclusions
The clinical protocol herein employed showed benefits in maintaining marginal bone levels and soft tissue contour around post‐extraction implants in the esthetic zone.
Introduction.
Today absorbable suture material as well as plastic nonabsorbable clips are widely used for surgical haemostasis and stabilisation of sutures during minimally invasive operations, ...however, they are capable of potential and spontaneous migration into the lower and upper urinary tract.
Objective.
In this paper, we present clinical cases of clip migration after radical prostatectomy and renal resection.
Clinical cases.
Clinical cases of spontaneous clip migration after the two most common minimally invasive interventions: kidney resection with subsequent removal of a foreign body after the use of lithokinetic therapy and a case of hemostatic material migration after robot-assisted radical prostatectomy. The literature review is also available.
Conclusion.
Excessive use of non-absorbable plastic clips around their close contact with the kidney cavity or the bladder wall should be avoided to achieve adequate hemostasis during minimally invasive methods of treating patients.
To investigate the effect of laparoscopic purse-string sutures in adult complicated appendicitis treatment.
The data of 568 adult cases of complicated appendicitis treated by laparoscopic ...appendectomy at the Hefei Second People's Hospital, Anhui Province, China, from September 2018 to September 2021 were analysed retrospectively. The patients were divided into two groups: 295 cases in the laparoscopic purse-string suture treatment group (observation group) and 273 cases in the simple Hem-o-lok
clamp treatment group (control group). The baseline data collected included age, gender, preoperative body temperature, leukocyte count and percentage of neutrophils and the surgery time. The postoperative data collected included antibiotic treatment duration, drainage tube placement time and the incidence of complications.
There were no significant differences in the baseline data of the two groups, including age, gender, preoperative body temperature, leukocyte count and neutrophil percentage (all P > 0.05). Compared with the control group, the postoperative hospital length of stay, duration of antibiotic treatment, the recovery time of peripheral white blood cell and neutrophil counts and the incidence of postoperative complications in the observation group were significantly decreased (P < 0.05).
Purse-string sutures can effectively reduce the incidence of postoperative complications after a laparoscopic appendectomy for adult acute complicated appendicitis. There was faster postoperative recovery when patients' appendiceal stumps were treated with laparoscopic purse-string sutures.
