This article proposes an insight into how migrants face the migrant journey. With the aim of analysing this subject matter, we referred to three of the most emblematic autobiographies in the field of ...migrant literature, namely: Io, venditore di elefanti, by Pap Khouma (1990), Ama il tuo sogno. Vita e rivolta nella terra dell’oro rosso by Yvan Sagnet (2012), and Il deserto negli occhi by Ibrahim Kane Annour (2013). These are the first-hand testimonies that allowed us to examine in depth the different stages of a migrant journey: from the preparations to the way back; going through the departure, the transit per se, and the settlement in the new territory. For the migrants, not only this journey is the expression of the need to improve their living conditions, but, at the same time, it also represents a path that leads them to an inner growth, and to the knowledge of themselves and of the Other. Moreover, while reading these testimonies, the reader is brought to the dimension of the otherness, thus becoming able to experience empathy and sharing.
L’articolo presenta una riflessione su come il migrante affronta il viaggio migratorio. Per analizzare questa tematica abbiamo fatto riferimento a tre testi autobiografici, emblematici nell’ambito della letteratura della migrazione: Io, venditore di elefanti, di Pap Kouma (1990), Ama il tuo sogno. Vita e rivolta nella terra dell’oro rosso di Yvan Sagnet (2012) e Il deserto negli occhi di Ibrahim Kane Annour (2013). Questi racconti sono le testimonianze dirette che ci hanno permesso di approfondire le diverse fasi del viaggio, dalla preparazione al ritorno, passando attraverso la partenza, il transito vero e proprio e l’adattamento alla nuova terra. Per il migrante il viaggio migratorio si impone come necessità per migliorare la sua vita, ma è anche un percorso che lo porta a una crescita interiore, alla conoscenza di sè stesso e dell’Altro. La conoscenza di queste esperienze porta invece il lettore, nella dimensione dell’alterità, suscitando empatia e condivisione.
La carenza infermieristica è ormai un problema mondiale, le cui cause sono fortemente correlate tra loro e riconducibili a quattro fattori: • L'invecchiamento della popolazione infermieristica • La ...riduzione delle iscrizioni ai corsi universitari • Il mutamento delle condizioni lavorative • L'immagine scadente della professione infermieristica. La migrazione infermieristica è motivata dalla ricerca di sviluppo professionale, di una migliore qualità della vita e di sicurezza personale. Vi sono Paesi donatori e Paesi riceventi. Anche in Italia il fenomeno è da anni presente. Nel 2007–2010 vi è stato il boom dell'ingresso in Italia di infermieri stranieri superiore al 25%. Nel 2010 erano iscritti all'albo IPASVI 375 185 infermieri, 77% donne e 10% erano stranieri. Ogni Azienda Sanitaria ha attuato la propria strategia di risoluzione. Presso l'ASLTO2 di Torino, dapprima sono state indette gare per “Cooperative infermieristiche”, poi per “Agenzie Interinali” e attualmente sono presenti i professionisti degli “Studi Associati”. Presso la dialisi del S.G. Bosco di Torino l'esperienza è ormai decennale, strutturata e consolidata. Dal 2001 si sono alternati 30 infermieri stranieri provenienti da sei Paesi diversi, il maggiore è ancora la Romania. Il piano didattico di inserimento del neo infermiere straniero, segue quello usato presso la Struttura complessa per tutti i neo assunti e questo permette una qualità omogenea dell'assistenza e un buon livello di “integrazione” percepito dai lavoratori stranieri. This article discusses several of contemporary Italian writer Igiaba Scego's literary works, from her 2003 children's novella La nomade che amava Alfred Hitchcock The Nomad Woman Who Loved Alfred ...Hitchcock and her first 2004 novel Rhoda, to her latest novel, the 2020 work La linea del colore The Colour Line. I position this article as a tribute to scholar Adalgisa Giorgio and engage Giorgio's reading of a story by Natalia Ginzburg in order to further my exploration of Scego's work. Reading Scego through the lens of Ginzburg, I highlight Scego's complex portrayals of women, focusing on the absence of the mother, on surrogate mother figures, and on relationships between women. Reading Scego through lenses suggested by Giorgio's reading of Ginzburg, I establish common points between two Italian women writers from differing eras and contribute to the work of bringing recognition to writers such as Scego, who are often labelled under migration or G2 (second-generation migrant) epithets, as writers within the Italian literary canon.
Brussels in translation: Our city by Maria TarantinoThis article focuses on Our city (2015), Maria Tarantino’s documentary on the city of Brussels and its growing diversity. With her work as a ...documentarist Tarantino is part of the generation of directors who have contributed to the rebirth of the Italian documentary film. Our city explores the relationship between migrants and their host city, an issue which has received little attention in migration literature and in the public debate until now. Drawing on Sandro Mezzadra and Brett Neilson’s concepts of ‘border’ and ‘borderscape’, the article argues that Tarantino’s documentary film counters the mainly negative and stereotypical media coverage with a more dynamic and multifaceted image of the metropolis. More particularly, the study analyses the formal features (involving voice(s), translation, framing and editing) which support the open and radical idea of citizenship proposed in Tarantino’s film.
This article explores the dynamics and factors that influence social work practice with parents in forced migration. The lens of anti-oppressive practice supports the data analysis of the empirical ...research. Using the grounded theory, the article presents and discusses the conscious and unconscious manifestations of oppressive and anti-oppressive practice as they emerge from the experience of social workers (practice in action) and how they manifest at the systemic level (organisational practice). Finally, some implications are drawn for professional and organisational practice.
