Building and Sustaining a Thriving Leadership Culture Essential to every healthy church is a biblical model of leadership. In the New Testament, church leadership is built around a team of elders ...working together, each bringing his own unique skills and gifts to the cause of shepherding the flock God entrusted to them. However, in many churches today the principle of plurality in leadership is often misunderstood, mistakenly applied, or completely ignored. Dave Harvey encourages church leaders to prioritize plurality for the surprising ways that it helps churches to flourish. This book not only builds a compelling case for churches to adopt and maintain biblical elder pluralities guided by solid leadership but also supplies practical tools to help elders work together for transformation.
Based on the two fundamentals in Youth Ministry, namely the role of the youth in Youth Ministry as protagonists and subjects, as proposed in Christus Vivit, the apostolic exhortation on the Youth, a ...fresh thinking has been taking place in the Church. This study explores Youth Ministry based on the theology of Adoption propounded by Chap Clark, a Presbyterian Pastor from the United States, who has been in the field of Youth Ministry for the past 27 years. He proposes a Christian spirituality which is found in one’s belongingness to a community, which he terms as “Adoptive Youth Ministry.” The objective of Youth Ministry as adoption is for every child, every adolescent, and every young adult, to be so embraced by the community of faith that they are assured a home, a people, and a place where they can discover who they are and how they are able to contribute. It proposes a concrete step towards a process of integrating the youth in ecclesial life. A Catholic perspective on his method is an enrichment in the Church’s theology of Youth Ministry.

Mary McGeachy (1901-91) navigated the gender conventions of the twentieth century. Born a gospel preacher's daughter in small-town Ontario, she served in the League of Nations Secretariat in the ...1930s and was employed by the British Ministry of Economic Warfare during World War II. In October 1942, she became the first woman to be given British diplomatic rank, and in 1944 was made Director of Welfare for the newly established United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration, the only woman in an executive position. Later she served as president of the International Council of Women, an organization promoting women's rights and welfare.
InWoman of the World, Mary Kinnear interprets McGreachy's international experiences through the lens of gender. As a Canadian with a commitment to international cooperation, her story is an important one. Building on archives from three continents, Kinnear's acute character study illuminates - at the individual level - important aspects of twentieth-century politics and society. Kinnear's biography also serves as an important contribution to political history, international relations, gender studies, and women's history. It retrieves from obscurity a woman who enjoyed contemporary celebrity because of her achievements in a man's world.
Catholic youth and young adult ministries have evolved vastly since they began in the 1930s. Throughout this ministry’s history, a story of change is told. This article will explore three questions. ...First, what does the history of this ministry tell us about the future? This will include an examination of the past twenty years of research and trends on youth and young adult ministry and the ministry leaders serving them. Second, what are the current realities informing our new directions? Third, what are the new directions being called for regarding the Catholic Church’s ministry to youth and young adults, and those that serve this ministry? Undoubtedly, Christus Vivit has shaped this conversation, and a large part of this direction includes a call for evangelization and accompaniment. Regardless, the key to moving in a new direction is understanding both the framework or characteristics for the pastoral ministry and the evolved role responsibilities of youth and young adult ministry leaders.
Bivocational and Beyond provides a wide range of perspectives on faith, leadership, and learning to equip pastors and theological educators for a future in which multivocational ministry may become ...the norm. Bivocational ministry—also called multivocational, covocational, dual career, partially funded, non-stipendiary, or tentmaking ministry—is a topic of increasing relevance to congregational vitality and the future of the church in North America. The rise of the “gig economy,” a blurring of traditional notions of sacred and secular, and missional innovation at the end of modern Christendom present challenges to received models of church and theological education. Bivocational pastors are being challenged to integrate diverse expressions of their calling, balance personal and professional obligations, overcome stigma, and achieve financial stability. Bivocational congregations are being challenged to adapt to new leadership styles and expectations of clergy and laity alike. Theological educators, including theological librarians, are also being challenged to adapt. Degree programs designed for full-time students preparing for fully funded pastoral ministry must be reassessed in light of multivocational realities. This book addresses these challenges as an opportunity for theological education and the church. Theological librarians and educators can guide congregational leaders to imagine the church in ways that transcend the “standard” model of a fully funded, professionally trained pastor of a single congregation.
The design of church migrant ministries remains suppressed by the limitation of churches that include limited resources and ability to conceptualise ministerial designs. The situation is compounded ...by compassion global fatigue. Thus, as a holistic ministry, approach, the application and practice of a migrant ministry remain a conceptual challenge despite the Christian position that integrating word and deed is the most appropriate Christian ministry approach. To contribute towards conceptualising the design of a holistic ministry by using migrant practical ministry, this article proposes a public, practical theology and operative ecclesiological model. The proposed model or approach is called a public operative ecclesiological model (POEM), which entails churches understanding their public practical theological position and responsive role within their communities and social settings.Contribution The model advocates and leverages church resources to respond to people’s needs by ensuring that a church practically contributes to public issues such as migration.
This volume contributes to an emerging field that could be referred to as "plural spiritual care and chaplaincy". It's innovative approach brings together contributions from a broad range of contexts ...and religious traditions and includes empirical work and conceptual explorations. It helps to fill the gap between practices and developments related to plural spiritual care and chaplaincy in the scholarly discourse.
Determining solar power initiatives and developments for a country as large as India is difficult due to the involvement of different enablers. The decisions of these enablers will influence the ...formulation of strategies to encourage solar power development in India. The present research work critically analyzes Indian solar power developments to recognize and to evaluate key enablers that will encourage greater usage in India׳s current scenario. A literature review that explores the Indian solar power sector is included, with a focus on need potential, and an examination of the key enablers. This work identifies sixteen solar power enablers based on relevant literature and experts׳ inputs. To evaluate and to categorize the recognized solar power development key enablers, a fuzzy Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) based methodology is utilized. The fuzzy DEMATEL approach is useful in dealing with the inherent ambiguity involved in studying interrelationships among the evaluated enablers. Research findings suggest that Initiatives taken at the state level (E7) and Power sector reforms (E12) have significant influence in adopting and encouraging India׳s solar power development. In this research, the enablers׳ causal relationships and their interactions are examined, and the findings are useful to encourage solar power development initiatives and decisions. This work will help policymakers formulate decisions to initiate and encourage solar power developments in India.
The practice where ordained ministers carryout their vocation role alongside another non-ministry oriented vocation is common in many church traditions today. Much of the existing dialogue and ...literature on the subject of bivocational ministry stems from the perspective of the Church of England and American Baptist churches. In this paper, the author adds to the conversation offer some insights on contemporary Pentecostal perspectives from a European context by drawing from the findings of an empirical survey involving European Pentecostals scholars. The essay sheds light on the label of bivocational ministry, its biblical and theological basis, and practices in the context of the European Pentecostal Theological Association.
As the body of Christ the Church has to be planted and landed in the life of the people around the world. As the part of the Kingdom of God, the world believe and confess the present of God through ...the ministry of the church. In order to declare the Kingdom of God in this world, the church has to be an inclusive church and in the same time become contextual church. To be inclusive means that the church be opened to all people. Church is not about nation, ethnic, skin color, economy (rich or poor), gender or whatever separated people, one to another. The church is about faith and believes to God the Father, The Son Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit. The people is one as the body of Christ, and has to be served by the church in her ministry and hospitality. Used the qualitative research, this article describes that the church has to be inclusive; the church also has to be contextualized in people life and context. Becomes contextual church means the church is serving, planting and growing in the people context itself, teaching and preaching the Gospel in the people context. The church has to be accepted in all people context around the world.
