This short paper reviews the changes in telephone technology that have taken place over the last 50 years. Electromechanical technique, semi-electronic, electronic, digital and packet is mentioned. ...The structure of the switching field changed as well: from expensive space multiplex to elegant time multiplex. Basic features of packet and mobile telephony are given. New properties were mentioned for each technique. The changes in signalling systems, numbering, theory of telecommunication traffic were mentioned. The development of modern telephone technics has increasingly included programs to simulate random processes, for checking the traffic calculations.
Has the cell phone forever changed the way people communicate? The mobile phone is used for "real time" coordination while on the run, adolescents use it to manage their freedom, and teens "text" to ...each other day and night. The mobile phone is more than a simple technical innovation or social fad, more than just an intrusion on polite society. This book, based on world-wide research involving tens of thousands of interviews and contextual observations, looks into the impact of the phone on our daily lives. The mobile phone has fundamentally affected our accessibility, safety and security, coordination of social and business activities, and use of public places. Based on research conducted in dozens of countries, this insightful and entertaining book examines the once unexpected interaction between humans and cell phones, and between humans, period. The compelling discussion and projections about the future of the telephone should give designers everywhere a more informed practice and process, and provide researchers with new ideas to last years.*Rich Ling (an American working in Norway) is a prominent researcher, interviewed in the new technology article in the November 9 issue of the New York Times Magazine. *A particularly "good read", this book will be important to the designers, information designers, social psychologists, and others who will have an impact on the development of the new third generation of mobile telephones. *Carefully and wittily written by a senior research scientist at Telenor, Norway's largest telecommunications company, and developer of the first mobile telephone system that allowed for international roaming.

In recent years, the demand for complaints from users towards mobile operators has increased notably according to OSIPTEL indicators. Only for the year 2017, the operating companies registered 2 ...million 728 thousand 430 claims, of which 233 thousand 342 claims passed to second instance (Tribunal Administrativo de Solucion de Reclamo - TRASU of OSIPTEL), putting OSIPTEL in big trouble. This research seeks to solve this problem by implementing a system to predict the meaning of the claim, making use of neural networks. It was decided to implement a Multilayer Perceptron, as a learning algorithm, Backpropagation of the error was chosen. As for the architecture of the Perceptron, several were tested, where the changing factor was the neurons in the hidden layer. The results show that the system has 86.969% accuracy.
Existing literature offers scant evidence of how BoP (bottom of the pyramid) consumers with limited product knowledge and interaction with product designers and marketers can co-create value. The ...current paper addresses this issue by analysing Bangladeshi farmers' use of mobile telephony. The findings suggest the value-in-use is facilitated or inhibited by product features, socio-economic practices, individuals' capabilities and the appropriation of mobile telephony. The paper demonstrates how BoP customers can co-create value with or without direct support from marketers and offers a theoretical framework for the co-creation of value and contributes to the current understanding of BoP market dynamics.
This paper presents the simulation of mobile telephony systems realized in Excel program. Although primarily intended for other applications, Excel has several advantages over other specialized ...programs for simulation purposes. Excel application for simulation is illustrated by several examples from already published papers with the main goal to describe the most important part of realized simulations that allows determination of all important characteristics of telecommunication traffic process. Beside traffic process, the Excel application allows a reliable simulation of base station emission power starting from a random distance between the base station and mobile station.
This study investigates possible associations between customer relationship management (CRM) practices, relationship quality and customer satisfaction, focusing on the possible mediation effect of ...relationship quality on the CRM tactics and satisfaction link. Field research was conducted by utilising a questionnaire developed by adopting relevant work reported in literature. CRM practices were conceptualised by a 14-item scale, while customer satisfaction was measured by a 4-item construct. Relationship quality was conceptualised by two dimensions, namely relationship satisfaction and trust. The questionnaire was made available over the internet and the respondents were customers of the three major mobile telephony companies in Greece. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted in order to identify latent factors among the CRM practices' items. The results revealed two CRM practices' factors, which were labelled as customer care and communication. Regression analysis was employed to examine the relationships between the emerged CRM practices' dimensions, relationship quality and customer satisfaction. Customer care was found to have a positive significant effect on customer satisfaction. Moreover, the CRM practices' dimensions were also found to have a significant positive impact on relationship quality. Finally, the full mediation role of relationship quality on the CRM practices and customer satisfaction link was also supported.
This article proposes that social change, a fundamental topic in sociological theory, can be productively revisited by attending to studies in ethnomethodology and conversation analysis (EM/CA). We ...argue that the corpus of EM/CA research, from the 1960s until the present day, provides details of the constitutive and identifying aspects of practices and activities that gradually transform into descriptions of
obsolescent
practices and activities, and that this corpus can be revisited to learn about the ways people used to do things. Taking landline and mobile telephony as a case in point, we show that the subtle details of conversational practices are anchored in the technology used as part of the contemporary lifeworld, and that they stand for the particularities of routine social structures of their time period. We also discuss the temporal aspects of the competences required on the part of members and analysts to make sense of encountered practices in terms of their ordinary recognizability and interactional consequentiality, pointing to the anchoring of social life in its historical time. Finally, we conclude by considering different ways of respecifying social change by attending to various kinds of historicity and obsolescence of social praxis.
