This study investigates the correlation properties of integral ground‐motion intensity measures (IMs) from Italian strong‐motion records. The considered integral IMs include 5–95% significant ...duration, Housner intensity, cumulative absolute velocity, and Arias intensity. Both IM spatial correlation and the correlation between different integral and amplitude‐based IMs (i.e., cross‐IM correlation) are addressed in this study. To this aim, a new Italian ground‐motion model (GMM) with spatial correlation for integral IMs is first introduced. Based on the newly developed GMM, the empirical correlation coefficients from interevent and intraevent residuals are investigated and various analytical correlation models between integral IMs and amplitude‐based IMs are proposed. The effective range parameter representing spatial correlation properties and the trend in the cross‐IM correlations are compared with existing models in the literature. The variability of the effective range parameters with respect to event‐specific features is also discussed. Modeling ground‐motion spatial and cross‐IM correlations is an important step in seismic hazard and risk assessment of spatially distributed systems. Investigating region‐specific correlation properties based on Italian strong‐motion records is of special interest as several correlation models have been developed based on global datasets, often lacking earthquakes in extensional regions such as Italy.
We present GANimator, a generative model that learns to synthesize novel motions from a single, short motion sequence. GANimator generates motions that resemble the core elements of the original ...motion, while simultaneously synthesizing novel and diverse movements. Existing data-driven techniques for motion synthesis require a large motion dataset which contains the desired and specific skeletal structure. By contrast, GANimator only requires training on a single motion sequence, enabling novel motion synthesis for a variety of skeletal structures e.g., bipeds, quadropeds, hexapeds, and more. Our framework contains a series of generative and adversarial neural networks, each responsible for generating motions in a specific frame rate. The framework progressively learns to synthesize motion from random noise, enabling hierarchical control over the generated motion content across varying levels of detail. We show a number of applications, including crowd simulation, key-frame editing, style transfer, and interactive control, which all learn from a single input sequence. What lies behind current feminist discontent with contemporary cinema?
Through a combination of cultural and industry analysis, Hilary Radner’s Neo-Feminist Cinema: Girly Films, Chick Flicks and ...Consumer Culture shows how the needs of conglomerate Hollywood have encouraged an emphasis on consumer culture within films made for women. By exploring a number of representative "girly films," including Pretty Woman, Legally Blonde, Maid in Manhattan, The Devil Wears Prada , and Sex and the City: The Movie , Radner proposes that rather than being "post-feminist," as is usually assumed, such films are better described as "neo-feminist." Examining their narrative format, as it revolves around the story of an ambitious unmarried woman who defines herself through consumer culture as much as through work or romance, Radner argues that these films exemplify neo-liberalist values rather than those of feminism.
As such, Neo-Feminist Cinema offers a new explanation as to why feminist-oriented scholars and audiences who are seeking more than "labels and love" from their film experience have viewed recent "girly films" as a betrayal of second-wave feminism, and why, on the other hand, such films have proven to be so successful at the box office.

an industry misunderstands the complex array of

a variegated examination of the history of media industries.
Ultimately, it draws a parallel to the contemporary period and the

Purpose
To evaluate the accuracy and reproducibility of myocardial blood flow measurements obtained under different breathing strategies and motion correction techniques with arterial spin labeling.
...Methods
A prospective cardiac arterial spin labeling study was performed in 12 volunteers at 3 Tesla. Perfusion images were acquired twice under breath‐hold, synchronized‐breathing, and free‐breathing. Motion detection based on the temporal intensity variation of a myocardial voxel, as well as image registration based on pairwise and groupwise approaches, were applied and evaluated in synthetic and in vivo data. A region of interest was drawn over the mean perfusion‐weighted image for quantification. Original breath‐hold datasets, analyzed with individual regions of interest for each perfusion‐weighted image, were considered as reference values.
Results
Perfusion measurements in the reference breath‐hold datasets were in line with those reported in literature. In original datasets, prior to motion correction, myocardial blood flow quantification was significantly overestimated due to contamination of the myocardial perfusion with the high intensity signal of blood pool. These effects were minimized with motion detection or registration. Synthetic data showed that accuracy of the perfusion measurements was higher with the use of registration, in particular after the pairwise approach, which probed to be more robust to motion.
Conclusion
Satisfactory results were obtained for the free‐breathing strategy after pairwise registration, with higher accuracy and robustness (in synthetic datasets) and higher intrasession reproducibility together with lower myocardial blood flow variability across subjects (in in vivo datasets). Breath‐hold and synchronized‐breathing after motion correction provided similar results, but these breathing strategies can be difficult to perform by patients.

He proposes that there has never been a singular cinema in India; rather, Indian cinema has been a multifaceted phenomenon that was (and is) understood, experienced, and present in everyday life in myriad ways. Employing methods of media archaeology, close textual analysis, archival research, and cultural theory, Mahadevan digs into the history of photography, print media, practices of piracy and showmanship, and contemporary everyday imaginations of the cinema to offer an understanding of how the cinema came to be such a dominant force of culture in India. The result is an open-ended and innovative account of Indian cinema's "many origins."
We introduce a novel deep learning framework for data-driven motion retargeting between skeletons, which may have different structure, yet corresponding to homeomorphic graphs. Importantly, our ...approach learns how to retarget without requiring any explicit pairing between the motions in the training set. We leverage the fact that different homeomorphic skeletons may be reduced to a common primal skeleton by a sequence of edge merging operations, which we refer to as skeletal pooling. Thus, our main technical contribution is the introduction of novel differentiable convolution, pooling, and unpooling operators. These operators are skeleton-aware, meaning that they explicitly account for the skeleton's hierarchical structure and joint adjacency, and together they serve to transform the original motion into a collection of deep temporal features associated with the joints of the primal skeleton. In other words, our operators form the building blocks of a new deep motion processing framework that embeds the motion into a common latent space, shared by a collection of homeomorphic skeletons. Thus, retargeting can be achieved simply by encoding to, and decoding from this latent space. Our experiments show the effectiveness of our framework for motion retargeting, as well as motion processing in general, compared to existing approaches. Our approach is also quantitatively evaluated on a synthetic dataset that contains pairs of motions applied to different skeletons. To the best of our knowledge, our method is the first to perform retargeting between skeletons with differently sampled kinematic chains, without any paired examples.

They outline how modularity—the specialized filmmaking tasks that collectively produce a film—operates as a key feature in every film industry, independent of local context.
