This paper represents a preface to the Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Sustainable Futures: Environmental, Technological, Social, and Economic Matters (ICSF 2022) held at ...the Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine, 24–27 May 2022. Background information and the organizational structure of the meeting, program committee, and acknowledgments of the contributions of the many people who made the conference a success are presented.
Abstract This paper introduces the Proceedings of the XV International Conference on Mathematics, Science and Technology Education (ICon-MaSTEd 2023), which took place at the Kryvyi Rih State ...Pedagogical University, Ukraine, from 17 to 19 May 2023. It provides background information and the organizational structure of the conference, as well as the structure of the proceedings. It also acknowledges the many people who contributed to the success of the conference.
O trabalho objetiva identificar o efeito da concentração de propriedade sobre a emissão de ação da empresa latino-americana. Para uma amostra de 887 empresas os resultados indicam que a concentração ...de propriedade inibe a emissão de ação na América Latina. Além disto, a rentabilidade também inibe a de emissão de ação, sendo indicação de um comportamento pecking order. O tamanho da empresa, por sua vez, favorece a capacidade de emissão de ação. Verificou-se também que empresas com mais oportunidades de crescimento são mais emissoras de ação, o que indica possível esgotamento fluxo de caixa e da capacidade de financiar-se com dívida. Adicionalmente, a disponibilidade de ativos para garantia de empréstimos é desfavorável à emissão de ação, sinalizando que empresas que dispõem de ativos parecem preferir dívida a emitir ação. Por fim, a pesquisa contribui para o debate sobre o tema estrutura de capital, especificamente sobre a emissão de ação, ao prover evidência adicional sobre a empresa da América Latina.
How does organizational decision-making change with the advent of artificial intelligence (AI)-based decision-making algorithms? This article identifies the idiosyncrasies of human and AI-based ...decision making along five key contingency factors: specificity of the decision search space, interpretability of the decision-making process and outcome, size of the alternative set, decision-making speed, and replicability. Based on a comparison of human and AI-based decision making along these dimensions, the article builds a novel framework outlining how both modes of decision making may be combined to optimally benefit the quality of organizational decision making. The framework presents three structural categories in which decisions of organizational members can be combined with AI-based decisions: full human to AI delegation; hybrid—human-to-AI and AI-to-human—sequential decision making; and aggregated human–AI decision making.
Practices of knowledge management are context-specific and they can influence organizational effectiveness. This study examines the possible mediating role of knowledge management in the relationship ...between organizational culture, structure, strategy, and organizational effectiveness. A survey was conducted of 301 organizations. The results suggest that knowledge management fully mediates the impact of organizational culture on organizational effectiveness, and partially mediates the impact of organizational structure and strategy on organizational effectiveness. The findings carry theoretical implications for knowledge management literature as they extend the scope of research on knowledge management from examining a set of independent management practices to examining a system-wide mechanism that connects internal resources and competitive advantage.

Large and ever-evolving technology companies continue to invest more time and resources to incorporate responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI) into production-ready systems to increase algorithmic ...accountability. This paper examines and seeks to offer a framework for analyzing how organizational culture and structure impact the effectiveness of responsible AI initiatives in practice. We present the results of semi-structured qualitative interviews with practitioners working in industry, investigating common challenges, ethical tensions, and effective enablers for responsible AI initiatives. Focusing on major companies developing or utilizing AI, we have mapped what organizational structures currently support or hinder responsible AI initiatives, what aspirational future processes and structures would best enable effective initiatives, and what key elements comprise the transition from current work practices to the aspirational future.

In this article I argue that the quest to establish microfoundations for institutional theory is hindered by two assumptions on which it currently rests: that structure simply constrains and enables ...action and that agency is mostly associated with reflexivity. I unpack these two assumptions and propose alternative microfoundations on which (1) structure not only constrains and enables action but also actively orients it toward some possibilities over others, and (2) the pre-reflective dimension of agency is explicitly theorized. It thus becomes possible to bridge long-standing divides within institutional theory, opening up avenues for further developing its microfoundations.
