The Faroe Islands are a series of islands 300 kilometers North-West of Scotland. The Faroes are part of Denmark and work with the Danish authorities. They have a subpolar climate, and a population of ...52,000 people. As the islands are developed and change with new buildings and agriculture, the authorities need up-to-date maps of the islands. The Umhví¸rvisstovan use Pix4Dmatic for large scale mapping on of the land to maintain recent records. They gathered over 2,000 images to survey 2.3 square kilometers. It was a successful surveying project with an open-access orthomosaic as an output.
Este ensayo, denominado Moskovsky metropolitén (2017), es una serie que forma parte del proyecto DISENROLL landscape, proyecto de fotografía basada en un registro de imagen aleatorio (random) ...mediante captura panorámica en desplazamiento ortográfico, que defino como “an instant non-recordable panoramic”. Este proyecto se desarrolla a lo largo de diferentes localizaciones por todo el mundo (París, Buenos Aires, Moscú, Helsinki, San Petersburgo, Tegucigalpa, Luxor, Tulum, Venecia, Tunis, Florencia, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, etc), y para este ensayo visual en particular, presentamos una selección de imágenes de la serie desarrollada en el metropolitano de la ciudad de Moscú (Rusia) realizadas con un Apple iPhone 6 (back camera 4.15mm f/2.2) en la fecha del 13 de julio de 2017 y en el instante desde las 13:01:36 hasta las 16:51:31 horas/minutos/segundos.
Mountain areas include precious environments like pastures that require preservation strategies by the appointed authorities. Here we present a system that processes orthophotos acquired by Agenzia ...per le Erogazioni in Agricoltura using Artificial Intelligence to reduce the time and costs of human inspection in pasture management activities. The system is trained to automatically classify multiple kinds of pasture and no-pasture areas. A user interface allows to query and refine the pasture maps. The map can be updated as new orthophotos come in. The system achieves good performance in the Provincia Autonoma di Trento (PAT), but it is suitable for similar mountain areas as well.
This work shows the first results of the metric survey, through the integrated use of a series of methodologies and techniques, of the fortifications of the city of Tyndaris. The features of these ...walls make it an interesting example of military architecture whose chronology is still a vexed question. The size and location of the structures, partly subject to superfetches that reach the modern age, together with the uneven condition of their conservation, have always made difficult to carry out an analytical survey of the monument in its entirety. The integrated use of a set of topographic survey technologies in a sample area of the monument has given promising results to date, in view of completing the relief of all the monument.
This work wants to be an overview about the various “open source” software that can be used to obtain rendering and photogrammetric data geo-referenced from digital photos. In fact, all the phases of ...digital photogrammetric processing can be performed by open source software. This paper, therefore, wants to provide an alternative to the use of the most famous commercial photogrammetric software, taking into consideration and comparing the different methods of photogrammetric processing available in the open source environmental to obtain the final aims pursued and showing off how it is possible to integrate the information coming out the different software used in order to the best result possible. The software used were: MicMac, OpenMVG, CloudCompare, MeshLab, Qgis2.8 and GrassGIS7. The comparison between the different photogrammetric processings through the software mentioned above has been tested on a burial in “enchytrismòs” found out during the archaeological excavations in the site of Poggio Gramignano (Italy). Generally the main final results we can obtain from a photogrammetric survey are: • a 3d model of the area or og the object investigated in the form of a “dense points cloud” rendered with associated texture; • a Digital Surface Model (DSM); • an orthophoto. These results can also be geo-referenced in a geographic reference system and can be used for many different purposes in the light of the kind of the research carring out. Even in this case, therefore, we worked on reaching the same final results that the “open source” software used allowed to obtain, resulting in a very hight reliability. Moreover, the final outputs can be managed and used to obtain, in the GIS environment, further data such as sections, altimetric profiles and so on and to associate them a database in order to have alphanumeric information for every vectorial element.

Gli efficienti servizi forniti dalle reti di stazioni permanenti e ...dalle piattaforme GNSS/IMU hannoconsentito una rapida diffusione e una affidabilità mai raggiunta per altre tecniche di rilievo in ambito territoriale,così come pure nelle applicazioni terrestri quali il rilievo architettonico o il monitoraggio di fenomeni naturali, ovesono stati sostituiti quasi integralmente gli approcci tradizionali del rilievo topografico terrestre. LIDAR and Digital Photogrammetry towards a new integration A new integration approach between digital photogrammetry and LiDAR is presented in this paper. Up to now LiDAR use some photogrammetric topics to manage point clouds and digital photogrammetry extract useful information from LiDAR data to produce traditional and accurate orthophoto. Considering that in traditional photogrammetric plotting the surveyor define the 3D location of the break-lines and add points just in those parts of the object where smooth surfaces can be defined, the proposed solution foresees a continuous exchange of information between those techniques in order to automatically extract the break-lines of the surveyed object. The final results is the complete breack-lines 3D description and the point clouds portions useful to define smooth surfaces. At the end of the automatic procedure a complete 3D set of information is produced in order to build up the fine 3D model of the surveyed object.
