Transferring a quantity of credible knowledge is a key competitive advantage for vertical relationships in an emerging economy. Distinct from extant research focused on the relational performance of ...and opportunism in channel relationships or knowledge transfer in horizontal alliances, this study investigates knowledge transfer in vertical relationships and considers how transactional and relational mechanisms differentially affect knowledge transfer quantity and credibility. Hierarchical regression analyses of 225 paired buyers and suppliers in China revealed that both transactional and relational mechanisms effectively improve quantity and credibility; within a transactional mechanism framework, contracts more effectively increase quantity, whereas transaction-specific investments do not increase credibility more effectively than contracts; and trust more effectively improves both quantity and credibility in the relational mechanism framework than personal relationships. These findings provide new insights for the knowledge management literature and practices in vertical relationships.

The findings reveal conflicts between managers and their respective firms as a result of personal relationship between managers buying and selling logistics services in China.
Research limitations/implications
This study uses semi-structured interviews with Chinese senior managers to explore intra-organizational conflicts, which develop as a result of personal relationships embedded within buyer–supplier relationships. The generalizability of the findings will have to be empirically examined in future research.
Practical implications
Chinese firms can use the findings to understand conflicts, which arise between managers and their respective firms when a personal relationship is present between managers engaged in the process of buying and selling logistics services.
Originality/value
A notable gap in buyer–supplier relationship literature, specifically in Chinese business culture, is an unfulfilled need for research examining intra-organizational conflicts, when a personal relationship is present between managers of buying and supplying firms in the logistics industry. This paper addresses this gap.

This research uses a case study methodology and relies on data obtained from 30 qualitative interviews with managers of buying and supplying firms, having a personal relationship within inter-firm relationships to promote the interest of the firm.
Findings
Results from this study reveal conflicts between managers of buying and supplying firms due to the presence of a personal relationship between them. Specifically, results suggest that managers face ego conflict, supplier’s selection conflict and conflict on accepting late deliveries when they rely on personal relationships, which are themselves embedded within inter-firm relationship.
Research limitations/implications
This study has some limitations. First, this study examines behavioural patterns in Australian cultural context. Second, results of this study are not generalizable to a broader population.
Practical implications
Firms can use the findings to understand conflicts, which arise between managers of buying and supplying firms, as a result of a personal relationship between them in the supply chain.
Originality/value
This is, perhaps, the first study contributing to the supply chain relationship literature by unveiling conflicts between managers of buying and supplying firms, when a personal relationship is present between them.
Interpersonal trust plays a crucial role in the formation and maintenance of social relationships. The present cross-sectional and longitudinal research examines the development of interpersonal ...trust judgments with reference to (1) the trustee’s reputation for trustworthiness, and (2) the nature of the trustor’s relationship closeness with the trustee. There were 194 7- to 13-year-olds who participated in the first wave of the study, and 107 of those individuals also participated in two subsequent waves across a 2-year period. Both cross-sectional and longitudinal results showed that with age, reputation for trustworthiness becomes less important and relationship closeness become more important. We also found that relationship closeness played a greater role in interpersonal trust evaluations for girls than for boys. These findings indicate that the way children make trust evaluations becomes increasingly relationship-specific over time and is more relationship-specific for girls than for boys.
This study examined the effects of journaling-based interventions on perceived relationship quality (i.e., mother-adolescent interactions and conflict) and gratitude among Chinese adolescents (ages ...12–14 years) and their mothers ( N = 339 dyads). Mother-adolescent dyads were randomly assigned to one of three conditions (i.e., gratitude, affection, and control), and kept a daily journal on assigned topics for 21 days. Participants’ mother-adolescent relationship quality and level of gratitude were measured before and after the 21-day period. The findings showed that both the gratitude and affection interventions had positive impacts on mother-adolescent relationship quality (i.e., more positive mother-adolescent interactions and less conflict) with a small to medium effect size for adolescents but no impact for mothers. Gratitude did not change from pre-to post-intervention. The current study provides some preliminary support for implementing gratitude and affection interventions with Chinese adolescents to promote relationship quality, but suggests that the intervention works better for adolescents than mothers.

Physical activity greatly affects human physical and mental health. This study investigated the effect of college students' physical activity levels on depression and personal relationships.
...Participants were 525 college students from five Korean cities. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire, Beck's Depression Inventory, and Leary's interpersonal orientation paper test measured physical activity volume, depression, and interpersonal relationships, respectively. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, reliability analysis, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and Pearson's correlation analysis.
The results revealed significant differences among emotional, cognitive, and synchronous symptoms of depression across activity level groups. Regarding interpersonal relationships according to physical activity, for the sociometric disposition, there were differences between groups in the sympathetic-acceptable and sociable-friendliness factors and, for the expressive disposition, in the competitive-aggressive and rebellious-distrustful factors.
There were statistical correlations between the physical activity volume and depression and the physical activity and interpersonal relationships. Subsequent research should examine college students' physical activities and causal relationships among various psychological variables.
Existing personnel resume information extraction methods cannot extract personnel attributes and events from unstructured personnel resumes in financial announcements, and cannot find relationships ...between personnel in financial cross-documents. U radu se istražuju suvremeni izazovi povezani s razvojem umjetne inteligencije i njezinim utjecajem na teološko-antropološki govor. U središtu je analiza transhumanističkog pokreta s njegovim ...obećanjima o kibernetičkoj besmrtnosti i o poboljšanju ljudske vrste. Polazeći od nekih obilježja tog pokreta, autor analizira njegove implikacije za kršćansku antropologiju. Rad je podijeljen na tri dijela. U prvom dijelu pod naslovom »Neka obilježja transhumanističkog doba« analizira se transhumanizam kao melioristička filozofija u kojoj se može lako prepoznati prometejski izazov. Drugi dio pod naslovom »Umjetna inteligencija i/za novo poimanje čovjeka« obrazlaže monistički i dualistički pristup ljudskoj zbilji te nastoji odgovoriti na pitanje može li stroj misliti. Ovdje je istaknuto pitanje dataizma kao uvjerenja da su organizmi zapravo algoritmi kojima se može upravljati. Moć podataka dovela bi do nadmoći umjetne inteligencije kojoj se pripisuju božanska svojstva. Treći dio »Čovjekova stvorenost na sliku Božju versus stvorenosti umjetne inteligencije na sliku čovječju« bavi se ključnim teološko-antropološkim pitanjem o čovjekovoj vrijednosti i specifičnosti. Najprije se istražuju razne interpretacije čovjekove stvorenosti na sliku Božju, zatim autor analizira u kojem smislu umjetna inteligencija može biti smatrana stvorenjem na sliku čovječju. Zaključni dio donosi još neke teološke misli u čijem središtu se nalazi opasnost idolatrije i pitanje nepovredivog dostojanstva čovjeka.
The paper explores contemporary challenges related to the development of artificial intelligence and its influence on theological-anthropological reflection. The main idea is oriented to the analysis of the transhumanist movement with its promises of cybernetic immortality and the enhancement of the human species. Starting from some characteristics of that movement, the author analyses its implications for Christian anthropology. The paper is divided into three parts. The first chapter, »Some characteristics of the transhumanist era«, analyses transhumanism as a transhumanism as a melioristic philosophy in which the Promethean challenge can be easily recognized. The second chapter entitled »Artificial intelligence and/for a new understanding of man« explains the monistic and dualistic approach to human reality and seeks to answer the question of whether a machine can think. The issue of dataism as the belief that organisms are algorithms that can be controlled is highlighted here. The power of data would lead to the supremacy of artificial intelligence that is attributed with divine properties. The third chapter, »Man’s creation in the image of God versus the creation of artificial intelligence in man’s image« deals with the key theological-anthropological question about man’s value and specificity. Various interpretations of man’s creation in the image of God are firstly explored, followed by an analyses of the sense in which artificial intelligence can be considered as a creation in man’s image. The concluding part brings some theological thoughts, at the centre of which is the danger of idolatry and the question of the inviolable dignity of man.
El ser humano por su facultad intelectiva ha sido analizado en el pensamiento occidental como un ser inteligente, concentrándose en ella como sólo aquello que lo caracteriza y olvidando que su ...capacidad intelectiva no es la totalidad de su ser, sino que es una parte de la totalidad de la estructura empírica de la persona humana. Teniendo presente este aspecto fundamental pero no único del ser humano, como se evidencia con el poema de Jorge Debravo, quisiera mostrar que el ser humano es más que una realidad animal, más que una realidad inteligente y más que una realidad evolutiva. La pretensión de este artículo es mostrar cómo la realidad personal y biográfica de la persona humana trasciende su propia “naturaleza”, que por tanto no debe ser reducida a la sola capacidad intelectual.
