Abstract The earlier starting age for learning English is apparent in the non‐Anglophone world. However, in China, kindergartens are banned from delivering subjects that are designated for primary ...school level, including English language lessons, as part of reforms to eliminate “schoolification” of preschool education. This qualitative study takes a multi‐level approach to language‐in‐education planning to explore how local education authorities and different types of kindergartens in the city of Hefei, China, interpret and respond to this macro‐level policy. The findings reveal a disparity between officials and school participants in their attitudes toward preschool English language education, as well as divergence between public and private kindergartens in their current English provision. The study probes these disparities and their links to the interplay between the meso‐level local education authority and the different types of kindergartens, as well as the relationship between the government and the market.

The purpose of this study was to explore the play documentation journey of an early childhood teacher in collaboration with a teacher learning community. To this end, the study was conducted at a public kindergarten in Region P for a total of 4 months from February to May 2022. The researcher's journal, teacher documentation, teacher learning community meeting records, and transcripts of conversations with fellow teachers were collected and analyzed. The results are as follows: First, there were difficulties the teacher faced as her journey of play documentation continued, but she was able to share her concerns and cooperate with the community to implement a curriculum. Second, by looking back at her play documentation, the teacher was able to not only look at children and learning again, but also deeply reflect on her own curriculum implementation. Third, it was confirmed that the teacher community was always together in the teacher's play documentation journey, and that each other's practical actions were intertwined and led to other practices. This study provides practical implications to the early childhood education field, focusing on 'finding the meaning of play documentation with the community, moving toward ethical practice through play documentation, and becoming a teacher along with the journey of play documentation.
This study aimed to analyze how child education was practiced using gift blocks at public kindergartens and Christian kindergartens where early-childhood education was provided in Japan in the early ...20th century. At public kindergartens, gift blocks were modified from the original form of Froebel’s gifts according to children’s age and combined with other teaching materials so that children could enjoy playing with the blocks more easily. By contrast, at Christian kindergartens, not only the original form the Froebel’s gifts were used with storytelling, but also Froebel’s methodologies and philosophy were highly respected. This practice at Christian kindergartens was similar to that provided in the United States.
The purpose of this text is to recognize the role of the board of education in preschool-education. The process of "Integrated facilities" is clarified. In that case, it pays attention to the ...differences in ideas between the superintendent and the board of education. Kakegawa City was taken up as a case study for this paper, and by what measures "Integrated facilities" had been put into practice were analyzed. Everything from there to the product "Integrated facilities" of which everything was united from the standpoint of the mayor's financial efficiency was valued when the education and the theory standpoints of the board of education became clear. It was shown that the idea of "Integrated facilities" was able to be generated with the mayor through the process of "Politics between the areas" in the board of education, and to play the role to inject an educational theory as a system component by the board of education. Moreover, the possibility that the crisis of a public kindergarten was able to be overcome was suggested in positive relations of the board of education to the preschool-education as teacher's consultant's role was expanded to the day-care center.

Across the world, optimistic educational policy discourses promote early childhood education as a key strategy for combating poverty and for building bright futures for the most vulnerable members of ...society. Viewed from the ground up, this picture of early childhood education as a path to bright futures for all children is often belied by political and economic entrenchments. This article draws on a four-year ethnographic study of multiple classrooms in one Lebanese public kindergarten school that serves the most vulnerable children in Lebanon – Lebanese, Syrian, and Palestinian children who face daily the insecurities of poverty, displacement, and political violence. Drawing on anthropological theory that illustrates how social identities forged at the level of historical timescales are constructed and contested at the microlevel of everyday life, we pay particular attention to spatio-temporal liminal contexts within which children renounce productions of their own, their peers’, and their families’ marginality.
Early childhood education in China has a dynamic history of educational reform. The objective of this study was to examine kindergarten teachers’ current perceptions of educational philosophies and ...practices. As a consequence of globalization, researchers also examined what teachers perceived their international colleagues should understand regarding the current state of early education in China. Researchers employed qualitative methodology and a phenomenological approach. Eight master teachers and former teachers/current administrators in a university-affiliated kindergarten program in a major urban city on mainland China participated in a semi-structured focus-group guided by a series of open-ended questions. Results of systematic analysis of transcripts revealed five themes: (1) the kindergarten curriculum reflects changes in China’s educational goals, the view of child, and needs of the country; (2) contemporary kindergarten practices reflect a philosophical change from whole group, teacher-led instruction to inclusion of individualized, child-guided experiences; (3) the physical classroom environment reflects revised educational goals and the child as an actively engaged participant in his/her own learning; (4) kindergarten teachers purposefully engage families as partners in the child’s education, and (5) teachers suggest that international colleagues should understand the current philosophy of education developed within the Chinese culture. Teachers’ perceptions confirm the major pedagogical change from traditional teacher-directed practice to adaptation of Western child-centered philosophies; however, these results may not represent other programs in China. Implications for educators internationally suggest that pedagogical change is a gradual process of assimilation, not without challenges and requiring significant investment by teachers directly responsible for the translation of philosophy to practice.
This paper first explains the definition of Early Childhood Education Industry and shows its specific types of subdivision. In the aspect of Kindergarten Education, the author takes the supply-side ...policy support as the starting point, then calculates the number of single kindergarten students and the Gap of Teachers' Strength, and also finds that there has an obvious problem that teachers' structure hangs upside down between the private and public kindergartens. In addition, in the aspect of Early-Childhood Education other than Kindergarten Education, the author discusses Early Education and Parent-Child Park, Childcare Service and Preschool Training. Finally, this paper studies the education informatization, online education and AI + education in the field of early education, draws the industrial chain structure chart and the profit pattern chart and looks forward to the future development direction from the survey data, to offer suggestions for the related departments and early childhood education practitioners.
