This brief is concerned with the problem of speed regulation control for a two-spool turbofan engine. Firstly, after analyzing the operation characteristics of the aeroengine, we give multiple ...switched equilibrium manifold expansion (EME) models on the basis of multiple operation modes. Meanwhile, the switching laws are based on the performance indexes that reflect the operation characteristics of the aeroengine in different operation modes. Then, a supervisor is proposed to orchestrate multiple switching laws through checking which operation mode the aeroengine operates in. Furthermore, to enhance the robustness of the aeroengine control system, an optimal control strategy is employed. However, as an acknowledged difficult problem, the analytic nonlinear optimal controller can be hardly obtained. Therefore, we present a modified linear quadratic regulator algorithm for the controller design and give a notion of an EME controller. Moreover, we offer a design process of the switching controllers and present a sufficient condition of the asymptotic stability of the closed-loop switched system for the aeroengine. Finally, a software simulation and a semiphysical simulation experiment for some aeroengine are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
The article is devoted to semantic analysis of lexical units meaning the ways of objectification of verbal and non-verbal aggression as a specific form of behavior in Russian and the British national ...variant of English. The common and ethnicically specific estimation forms of the described phenomenon were emphasized.
The article deals with the cognitive-semantic analysis of an event and its mapping onto a verb phrase headed by an English verb of movement (changing location). The object of the study was a group of ...English verbs of movement, presented in the work of the American linguist B. Levin. It is marked in the article that all the numerous classifications and subsequent refinements and splitting into subgroups of this part of the lexicon do not give their accurate and proper categorization. In the process of the analysis, the root semes of the verbs of changing location were identified, the presence of which allows to convey adequately the basic meaning of the situation they have objectified. All optional semes in each verb are highlighted depending on the functional-communicative, stylistic, socio-psychological requirements of the context. Based on this, the concept of positional variants of polysemantic verbs - allosemants - is introduced into the work. Particular attention was focused on the study of differences in the frame structure of the verb-framed and satellite-framed events. The analysis of the second type of events, actualized by the verbs of movement, gives a possibility to mark the appearance of a new variant of word formation based on cognitive compression. In the analyzed group of verbs, there were identified mechanisms for incorporating such components as MANNER, PATH, and INSTRUMENT into the frame structure of motion verbs that give the opportunity to enrich the English lexicon.
To the best of the authors' knowledge, this work presents the first large-scale indoor experimental assessment of an implementation of the emerging Smart ElectroMagnetic Environment (SEME) paradigm, ...which is based on the deployment of static-passive EM skins ( SP-EMS s) to enhance the coverage in a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network. Unlike standard (laboratory-based) validations reported in the state-of-the-art ( SoA ) literature, the scenario at hand mimics a realistic indoor environment to replicate as close as possible the user experience when using commodity devices. Representative results from the experimental field trials are reported to confirm the performance predictions arising from the numerical studies and the tolerance analyses carried out with a commercial ray-tracing ( RT ) tool. Besides experimentally validating the SEME idea, this study is also aimed at (roughly) quantifying the economic advantage of a SEME implementation, relying on simple-manufacturing/low-cost field manipulating devices without any additional biasing circuitry, with respect to standard approaches that imply the densification of the active radiating sources.
The topical delivery route is proposed as an alternative or adjunctive approach to melanoma treatment, since the target site for melanoma treatment—the epidermal basal layer—is potentially accessible ...by this route. Microemulsion systems are effective delivery vehicles for enhanced, targeted skin delivery. This work investigated the effect of Rose Bengal (RB) and RB-loaded self-emulsifying microemulsions (SEMEs) on growth inhibition of human melanoma and normal skin cell monolayers, the safety of the excipients incorporated in SEMEs on human cell lines, and the in-vitro human skin penetration of RB delivered in SEMEs and control solution. Cellular toxicity was assessed by the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay, and the growth inhibitory mechanism of RB was investigated by flow cytometry using PI staining. Unloaded SEMEs caused reduced cellular toxicity compared to the surfactant excipient, Labrasol®. RB-loaded SEMEs increased cell growth inhibition compared to the RB aqueous solution. Flow cytometry revealed apoptotic cells after treatment with RB-loaded SEMEs, indicating that apoptosis may be one of the mechanisms of cell death. Preliminary results of multiphoton microscopy with fluorescence lifetime imaging (MPM-FLIM) analysis showed deeper penetration with greater skin concentrations of RB delivered from SEMEs compared to the RB aqueous solution. This study highlights the enhanced skin penetration and antimelanoma effects of RB loaded in a SEME system.
This paper deals with the electromagnetic ( EM ) planning of static and passive electromagnetic skins ( EMS s) in complex urban scenarios to improve the EM coverage of the base-station ( BTS ) ...antenna by means of a set of multi-hop ( MH ) cascaded reflections. Towards this end, an innovative SbD -based method is developed where wireless links of arbitrary "depth", which are implemented through multiple anomalous cascaded reflections, are optimized. Representative numerical results, concerned with real-world scenarios, are analyzed to assess the capabilities and the potentialities of such an instance of the so-called smart EM environment ( SEME ).
A recent series of experiments demonstrated that introducing ranking bias to election-related search engine results can have a strong and undetectable influence on the preferences of undecided ...voters. This phenomenon, called the Search Engine Manipulation Effect (SEME), exerts influence largely through order effects that are enhanced in a digital context. We present data from three new experiments involving 3,600 subjects in 39 countries in which we replicate SEME and test design interventions for suppressing the effect. In the replication, voting preferences shifted by 39.0%, a number almost identical to the shift found in a previously published experiment (37.1%). Alerting users to the ranking bias reduced the shift to 22.1%, and more detailed alerts reduced it to 13.8%. Users' browsing behaviors were also significantly altered by the alerts, with more clicks and time going to lower-ranked search results. Although bias alerts were effective in suppressing SEME, we found that SEME could be completely eliminated only by alternating search results -- in effect, with an equal-time rule. We propose a browser extension capable of deploying bias alerts in real-time and speculate that SEME might be impacting a wide range of decision-making, not just voting, in which case search engines might need to be strictly regulated.
The purpose of the article is to characterize semasiological approach to the investigation of the Danubian basin axionomens. The subject of this study is system and structurally-defined organization ...of axionomens which are qualified as determined linguistic units taken from the lexicographical interpretative sources. Methods of semantic and componental analysis are used in this linguistic research. Internally-arranged lexical semantics of words denoting philosophical, world outlook, scientific, social, political, moral, religious, legal, aesthetic values of Modern English is the finding of research. The practical value of the research is to use the results for fundamental studies of all lexico-semantic sub-systems of value paradigms of the Ukrainian, English and French language societies.
