The study aimed to identify the similarities between the activities of athletics in sport injuries according to the body parts for males and females players in clubs and institutions of federal Iraq ...championship which is established in Baghdad (4-7 / 11 / 2020). The researcher depended on descriptive method where the research sample consists of 139 male and female players. 100 male players and 39 female players where participated in the study from most of Iraq provinces and the research depends on the questionnaire form which is prepared accurately by the researcher which was presented to many experts and coaches of the track and field games where the questionnaire included specifying the locations, types and the most important causes of its occurrence for sport injuries, the data processed statically by using the percentage and the grade correlation coefficient between injuries according to parts of the body for athletics activities. The results of the research shown that the percentage of common sport injuries for the advanced participants in the track and field games championship according to the type of the game and the location of the injury, also the study shown the similarities between the activities of running for short, medium and long distances concerning the male players while for the female players the results shown the similarities in running for short and medium distances, also there is similarities between the injuries of running for medium distances, throwing, jumping and heptathion, where a number of recommended and suggestions are presented.
Sport-related concussion (SRC) is typically followed by clinical recovery within days, but reports of prolonged symptoms are common. We investigated the incidence of prolonged recovery in a large ...cohort (n = 18,531) of athlete seasons over a 10-year period. A total of 570 athletes with concussion (3.1%) and 166 controls who underwent pre-injury baseline assessments of symptoms, neurocognitive functioning and balance were re-assessed immediately, 3 hr, and 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, and 45 or 90 days after concussion. Concussed athletes were stratified into typical (within 7 days) or prolonged (> 7 days) recovery groups based on symptom recovery time. Ten percent of athletes (n = 57) had a prolonged symptom recovery, which was also associated with lengthier recovery on neurocognitive testing (p < .001). At 45-90 days post-injury, the prolonged recovery group reported elevated symptoms, without deficits on cognitive or balance testing. Prolonged recovery was associated with unconsciousness odds ratio (OR), 4.15; 95% confidence interval (CI) 2.12-8.15, posttraumatic amnesia (OR, 1.81; 95% CI, 1.00-3.28), and more severe acute symptoms (p < .0001). These results suggest that a small percentage of athletes may experience symptoms and functional impairments beyond the typical window of recovery after SRC, and that prolonged recovery is associated with acute indicators of more severe injury.
A number of comprehensive injury-prevention programs have demonstrated injury risk-reduction effects but have had limited adoption across athletic settings. This may be due to program noncompliance, ...minimal exercise supervision, lack of exercise progression, and sport specificity. A soccer-specific program described as the F-MARC 11+ was developed by an expert group in association with the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) Medical Assessment and Research Centre (F-MARC) to require minimal equipment and implementation as part of regular soccer training. The F-MARC 11+ has been shown to reduce injury risk in youth female soccer players but has not been evaluated in an American male collegiate population.
To investigate the effects of a soccer-specific warm-up program (F-MARC 11+) on lower extremity injury incidence in male collegiate soccer players.

One American collegiate soccer team followed for 2 seasons.
Forty-one male collegiate athletes aged 18-25 years.
The F-MARC 11+ program is a comprehensive warm-up program targeting muscular strength, body kinesthetic awareness, and neuromuscular control during static and dynamic movements. Training sessions and program progression were monitored by a certified athletic trainer.
Lower extremity injury risk and time lost to lower extremity injury.
The injury rate in the referent season was 8.1 injuries per 1000 exposures with 291 days lost and 2.2 injuries per 1000 exposures and 52 days lost in the intervention season. The intervention season had reductions in the relative risk (RR) of lower extremity injury of 72% (RR = 0.28, 95% confidence interval = 0.09, 0.85) and time lost to lower extremity injury (P < .01).
This F-MARC 11+ program reduced overall risk and severity of lower extremity injury compared with controls in collegiate-aged male soccer athletes.
Introduction: In examining the factors affecting sports injuries, the emphasis is always on physical variables, while cognitive and psychological characteristics can also be effective. Hence, the ...present study aimed to investigate the relationship between sustained attention as a neurocognitive function and landing error as a mechanical factor associated with lower limb injuries. Materials and Methods: 44 female basketball players aged 18-25 years at the national league level participated in this study. The participants were assessed using the continuous performance test, and their landing-jumping was evaluated by the landing error scoring system in two conditions of high and low cognitive load. Results: The results showed that people’s landing errors increased significantly as a result of increased cognitive needs (P=0.0001). Also, the findings revealed a positive correlation between omission and commission errors with landing error scores in both low and high cognitive load conditions (P<0.05). Conclusion: Sustained attention could predict the landing error score that is considered a key risk factor of lower limb injuries. It is recommended that multiple cognitive and physical assessments be used to identify athletes at risk of injury. Hence, cognitive enhancement protocols may be effective along with physical preparation programs.
(1) Background: Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is a clinical condition characterized by localized non-inflammatory musculoskeletal pain caused by myofascial trigger points. Diathermy or Tecar therapy ...(TT) is a form of noninvasive electro-thermal therapy classified as deep thermotherapy based on the application of electric currents. This technique is characterized by immediate effects, and its being used by high performance athletes. (2) Methods: A total of thirty-two participants were included in the study who were professional basketball players. There was a 15-person Control Group and a 17-person Intervention Group. TT was applied in the Intervention Group, while TT with the device switched off (SHAM) was applied in the Control Group. The effects were evaluated through the Lunge test, infrared thermography, and pressure threshold algometry at baseline, 15, and 30 min after the intervention. (3) Results: the Intervention Group exhibited a greater increase in absolute temperature (F1,62 = 4.60, p = 0.040, η2p = 0.13) compared to the Control Group. There were no differences between the groups in the Lunge Test (F1.68,53.64 = 2.91, p = 0.072, η2p = 0.08) or in pressure algometry (visual analog scale, VAS) (F3.90 = 0.73, p = 0.539, η2p = 0.02). No significant short-term significant differences were found in the rest of the variables. (4) Conclusions: Diathermy can induce changes in the absolute temperature of the medial gastrocnemius muscle.
Explore how social support influences exercise therapy participation and adherence before and after enrolling in an education and exercise therapy intervention (Stop OsteoARthritis, SOAR).
: ...Interpretative description. We sampled participants with sport-related knee injuries from the SOAR randomized controlled trial. SOAR is a virtual, physiotherapist-guided, education and exercise therapy-based knee health program that targets individuals at risk of early osteoarthritis. One-on-one semi-structured interviews were completed, and an inductive approach was guided by Braun & Clarke's reflexive thematic analysis.
Fifteen participants (67% female, median age 26 19-35 years) were interviewed. Three themes were generated that encapsulated participants' social support experiences that fostered exercise participation: 1)
represented the value of social support that went beyond participants' physical needs, 2)
highlighted the working partnership between the clinician and the participant, and 3)
indicated a need for on-going support is necessary for the long-term management of participants' knee health. A theme of the therapeutic relationship was evident across the findings.
Insight was gained into
perceived support may be linked to exercise behavior, with the therapeutic relationship being potentially linked to perceived support. Social support strategies embedded within an education and exercise therapy program may boost exercise adherence after sport-related knee injuries.
Objective:
To evaluate the number of medical conditions detected by periodic health evaluations (PHEs) in elite athletes, and their consequences for management and medical clearance.
Design:

Participants:
Elite athletes of various sports in a high-performance program in The Netherlands, in the period between 2009 and 2020.
Interventions:
The PHEs consisted of a questionnaire, general and musculoskeletal physical examination, laboratory blood test, electrocardiogram, pulmonary function testing, and (cardiopulmonary) exercise test.
Main Outcome Measures:
We extracted and analyzed the medical conditions that led to advice, clinical follow-up, further diagnostic investigation or treatment, and the medical clearance status of the athlete (clearance, temporarily no clearance, or permanently no clearance).
Results:
We included 721 PHEs of 451 elite athletes. We found 1389 medical conditions that led to advice (n = 923, 66%), clinical follow-up (n = 124, 9%), further diagnostic investigation (n = 190, 14%), treatment (n = 132, 10%), or sports restriction (n = 20, 1%). Only 20 cases (3%) led to temporarily no medical clearance. After further investigation or treatment, no permanent sports restriction was imposed on any of the athletes.
Conclusions:
We found a high number of medical conditions detected with a PHE in elite athletes. However, the vast majority of detected conditions were mild, with consequences limited to preventive advice and follow-up. The yield of PHE to detect (potentially) severe pathological conditions seems low. Clinical relevance of PHE in elite athletes and potential future health benefits remain unclear.
Abstract Objectives To examine the association of the COL1A1 −1997G/T and +1245G/T polymorphisms, individually and as haplotypes, with anterior cruciate ligament ruptures in professional soccer ...players. Design Subjects were 91 male professional soccer players with surgically diagnosed primary anterior cruciate ligament ruptures. The control group consisted of 143 apparently healthy male professional soccer players, who were without any self-reported history of ligament or tendon injury. Both subjects and healthy controls are from the same soccer teams, of the same ethnicity (Polish, East-Europeans for ≥3 generations), a similar age category, and had a comparable level of exposure to anterior cruciate ligament injury. Methods Genomic DNA was extracted from the oral epithelial cells using GenElute Mammalian Genomic DNA Miniprep Kit (Sigma, Germany). All samples were genotyped using a Rotor-Gene real-time polymerase chain reaction. Results Genotype distributions for both polymorphisms met the Hardy–Weinberg expectations in both subjects and controls ( p > 0.05). Higher frequency of the COL1A1 G-T (−1997G/T and +1245G/T polymorphisms) haplotype was significantly associated with reduced risk for anterior cruciate ligament rupture (Hap.score −1.98, p = 0.048). The TT genotype was under-represented in the anterior cruciate ligament rupture group. However, this result was not statistically significant ( p = 0.084 Fisher's exact test, recessive mode: TT vs GT+GG). Conclusions Higher frequency of the COL1A1 G-T haplotype is associated with reduced risk of anterior cruciate ligament injury in a group of professional soccer players. Consequently, carrying two copies the COL1A1 G-T haplotype may be protective against anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The risk of traumatic injury in football has been suggested to be affected by field conditions. This study, therefore, aimed to investigate whether near surface water content of the football field, ...influenced the risk of traumatic injuries during a youth football tournament.
At Dana Cup, an annual international youth football tournament in Denmark, all injuries were registered and classified at the on-site emergency department over 7 years. The incidence rate of traumatic injury was computed. Meteorological data and soil characteristics were used to simulate near surface water content of the playing fields. The incidence rate ratio (IRR) between water content and injury incidence rate was analyzed using a multivariate Poisson regression, controlling for tournament stage and demographical parameters.
About 2704 injuries were recorded corresponding to a risk time of 284 905 player hours. An inverse relation between water contents and the incidence rate of traumatic injury was found (IRR = 0.24 95% CI 0.1-0.7, p = 0.01). The incidence rate of traumatic injury increased with advancing tournament stage, that is, for the finals (IRR = 4.30 95% CI 2.8-6.6, p < 0.001). Also we found an interaction between dry fields and the final stage of tournament, further exacerbating this effect.
Our data suggest that the incidence rate of traumatic injury is increased with drier field conditions and advanced tournament stages.

Team sports where an opponent invades the player's territory (eg, football, rugby, basketball) that reported at least 1 measure of neck strength, and 1 measure of SRC incidence, using cohort, case-control, or cross-sectional study designs. The Newcastle-Ottawa scale was used to assess risk of bias; certainty of evidence was assessed using the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation approach.
Studies were summarized qualitatively and quantitatively. To understand the relationship between neck strength and future SRC incidence, random-effects meta-analysis was conducted on prospective longitudinal studies.
From a total of 1445 search results, eight studies including 7625 participants met the inclusion criteria. Five studies reported a relationship between greater neck strength or motor control and reduced concussion incidence. Pooled results from 4 studies indicated small (
= 0.08-0.14) nonsignificant effects with substantial heterogeneity (I
>90%). The considerable heterogeneity is likely a result of synthesized studies with vastly different sample characteristics, including participant age, playing level, and sports.
There was very low-certainty evidence suggesting a small, nonsignificant relationship between greater neck strength and a lower risk of sustaining a SRC.
