The purposes of this study were to describe the ways of teaching English at SMPIT Aceh Barat in terms of pre activity, main activity and post activity, to discover the methods or techniques used by ...the English teachers at SMPIT Aceh Barat, and to seek the difficulties faced by the English teachers at SMPIT Aceh Barat. This study used qualitative method in nature. The research subjects of this study were two English teachers at SMPIT Aceh Barat who taught at seventh grade, eight grade and ninth grade. Observation and interview were used to collect the data. The data were analysed and interpreted through qualitative procedures. The results showed that the teachers who teach at SMPIT Aceh Barat have to be always creative and innovative and the school has to provide the good facilities in order to support the teaching and learning process becomes enjoy and fun.
This research discussed Teacher's Problems in Teaching English Using the 2013 Curriculum 2017 Revision at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Banjarmasin. This research used a Case Study using the Descriptive ...Qualitative method. The technique of Data Collection here was the interview. The result of this research indicated that English teacher faced some problems relating to assessment, the primary condition of students, growing of PPK (Penguatan Pendidikan Karakter), growing literacy, growing 4C (Creative, Critical Thinking, Communicative, Collaborative), which lead them to be creative, critical in thinking, and also in growing HOTS (Higher Order of Thinking Skill). They were less explanation or description about assessment, the students' ability in English was low, the lack of teaching time and information, the transition of students from SMP to SMK, the students' lack of vocabulary, the students were not through filtering. There were some solutions to the teacher's problems . First, learning should develop for better quality, so all essential aspects of the latest curriculum revision are covered when learning. The second is to report or consult the problems in implementation to the principal. The third is to invite an expert in the English Curriculum when the MGMP of English cannot solve it. The fourth is to handle the problems by the teacher and students internally.
This study aimed to analyze teachers’ self-efficacy in teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) amid the Covid-19 pandemic in Cilacap, Central Java province, Indonesia. The study used a ...qualitative case study design. This study had exposed the questionnaire from twelve teachers in three Senior High Schools and interviewed four teachers from each of these three schools as the represented respondents. The data were then analyzed using the interactive model of data analysis. Moreover, the responses for the self-efficacy scale revealed the result of the percentage used to conclude and the interview result usage to support the teachers’ perception of their self-efficacy in teaching English. The result proved that these teachers possess a high self-efficacy in teaching EFL. These teachers delivered positive responses and perceptions of their high self-efficacy, which encouraged them to have a great deal of determining instructional strategies, engaging the students, and managing the class during distance learning. Furthermore, specific findings within the domains of instructional strategies, student engagement, and classroom management provide further insight into the importance of examining the overall self-efficacy of EFL teachers in supporting distance learning.
During the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, many educational institutions have adapted various online teaching modes. However, studies exploring the employment of synchronous online discussion for ...teaching English in higher education context were still limited. This study aimed at investigating EFL university students’ perceptions and challenges on the use of synchronous online discussions. Employing virtual observations and semi-structured interviews, five Master students of English education study program of a public university in Bandung participated in this study. Data were based on three domains of communication types for e-learning; content-related, planning of tasks and social supports. The findings showed that the students had positive response to the employment of synchronous online discussion. They believed that synchronous online discussion was a good online teaching mode where task negotiation, task planning, opinions, questions and answers can be done easily. In addition, they could improve critical thinking and writing skills as well as get social supports. Meanwhile, poor internet connection and misunderstanding of tasks became the challenge.

The purpose of this study was to look into how Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is used in teaching English language from the point-of-view of English language teachers in Palestine. A ...quantitative approach was employed to collect data from 780 language school teachers from 260 schools who participated in a course project utilizing ICT in English as a Foreign Language teaching (TEFL). These participants responded to a questionnaire survey about the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic on language education and how they dealt with these. We statistically analysed the responses through four domains: the use of ICT in students’ lives; the use of ICT in education generally; the use of ICT to support learning and teaching in EFL; and teachers’ perceived skills for using ICT in education. Results indicated that English language teachers in Palestinian public schools believed that ICT has clear potential to support the learning of English, but that there remain barriers to its implementation. Teachers feel equipped to use ICT but would like to see a greater emphasis on training in order to maximise their teaching.
This study aims to determine the Islamic character implemented by the English Tadris lecturer in the learning process in the English Tadris Study Program at IAIN Curup. The method used was ...descriptive quantitative by using inferential percentage formula. The sample of this research is 127 students taken from the total number of English Tadris students, 234 students using the Hery King homogeny. The results of this study indicate the first 60.6% of lecturers implement religious aspects of greeting is Islam such as “Assalamualaikum, bismillahirrohmanirrohim, alhamdulillahirrobilalamin, in starting and ending lessons. Second, 48.8% of the lecturers implements aspects the lecturer uses clothes according to the Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Curup code of ethics. Third, 47.2% in aspect Appreciating Achievement, the statement used is that the lecturer gives high motivation to students to continue learning. Fourth, 44.2% in democratic aspect, and statement of this aspect namely lecturers are open in accepting student opinions. Fifth,43.3% is the spirit of nationality aspect, the statements in this aspect are the lecturers commemorate national (Indonesian Independence day, Heroes day, mother's day, etc) and Islamic day (Maulid of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, Halal bi halal, Islamic Miraj, Islamic new year).
This study aims to find out whether the English lecturer study program, in other words, has applied andragogy as teaching to people who have been considered adults. The lecturer uses andragogy as a ...good guide in conveying a knowledge that is focused on student experience, student needs and related to student personalization. Andragogy is instruction for adults to be more focused on the process and to reduce less on the content taught in learning. This article adopts the instruments of the victor cx wang article published in 2015. These findings indicate that lecturers are more directed towards students who become students-centered which are characterized by group discussions, lecturers only direct through lectures and encourage students to dialogue. This teaching method is in line with teaching andragogy which directs adult students to be independent in learning.
This study is intended to explore the teachers’ perception toward their professional development in teaching English at senior high schools in Bireuen. This study employs a qualitative design in ...collecting and analyzing the data.To collect the data, 30 English teachers of 146 English teachers in Kabupaten Bireuen were randomly chosen as the participants. A set of Likert Scale questionnaires was given to 30 teachers and 10 of the teachers were interviewed by using a guided interview to explore the general perception about the teachers’ perception toward their professional development and their effort to improve their professionalism in teaching English. The finding revealed that the English teachers in Kabupaten Bireuen presumed themselves as professionals in doing their occupation. It is due to their perception that they accomplished the four pre-requirement competencies namely pedagogical, social, personal, and professional. They improved pedagogical competence by collecting teaching materials from the internet, books, and their seniors and learning about new teaching methods. They improved their competence by building a good relationship with students, parents, and school stakeholders.The teachers improved their professional competence by joining the forum of subject matter teacher (MGMP), attending education seminars, training, and workshops, and they improved the competence by behaving with good characters.
A variety of approaches exist in foreign language teaching and learning; Task-based Learning (TBL) is one of them. It is an innovative approach that is developed from the Communicative Approach. The ...concepts of TBL have proven successful in classrooms. In this study, the writer conducted a literature review of task-based learning in teaching English dealing with the benefits and problems in implementing this approach in Indonesia. This paper seeks to review Task-based Learning (TBL), covering the definition of 'task' and Task-based Learning (TBL), the characteristics and stages of TBL, the teacher and students' roles in Task-based Learning, and also the advantages and disadvantages of Task-based Learning. It also addresses the application, the benefits and problems of Task-based Learning in the sense of Indonesian EFL context. This will help educators and language teachers in Indonesia to attach more importance to the contextual differences when applying Task-based Learning in Indonesia.
In the modern and digital era, digital native’s learners are conceived into an era of digital networking. It keeps everything connected to technology. Digital natives with digital technical expertise ...and abilities which can theoretically be utilized for improved learners’ interaction in the classroom. The government has began to vigorously increase the literacy culture in schools by doing reading literacy. Teachers will be willing to provide an precedent by developing a community of literacy at school. Increased classroom reading atmosphere also improves vocabulary for learners studying English. The Seesaw Media implementation may also help learners to insert allusions to enhance scientific knowledge as a regulatory framework for learning. The aim of this research was to discern the use of Seesaw as the media of literacy to cultivate learners’ vocabulary. This research pursued to answer two research questions; (1) does Seesaw Media helps learners to improve their reading ability? And (2) what are the impacts of Seesaw Media application on the learners on developing vocabulary? The methods used by the researcher were; firstly, the researcher distributed the questionnaire with the English learner's. Secondly, the researcher assessed the feedback from the respondents. Thirdly, the researcher sought the response to the learners on the effect of reading ability by using Seesaw. This research has used descriptive qualitative to conduct the research study. This result of the research has shown the Seesaw Media helped learners to improve their reading ability.
