Graphic abstract
BACKGROUND: Shoulder muscle strength has vital importance during passing, spike, shooting and turning underwater. OBJECTIVE: To compare bilateral absolute and relative shoulder extension-flexion peak ...moments of volleyball, handball, underwater hockey, and badminton players and to determine whether the decline in the average moment, power, and work measures were consistent with observed bilateral peak moment relationships. METHOD: A total of 44 healthy male athletes (16 underwater hockey: 22.45 ± 2.06 years; 8 volleyball: 22.38 ± 3.29 years; 9 handball: 22.56 ± 1.60 years; 11 badminton: 21.40 ± 1.73 years) participated in the study. RESULTS: The differences between Dominant vs. non-dominant shoulder extension peak moment strength ratios (p< 0.05) were statistically significant among groups. There were significant differences between volleyball and badminton players in mean shoulder extension moment decline (p< 0.001) and mean shoulder extension work decline (p< 0.05) in the dominant side from the first to the third set. CONCLUSION: Peak moment only measurements could be inadequate to determine strength discrepancies among different sports branches and the assessment of the declines in the average moment, work and power parameters between the sets may be more beneficial for the examination of shoulder strength characteristics in athletes.
Three-dimensional human range motion measurement system is developed by inertial sensor technology and wireless bluetooth acquisition technology. This paper describes the internal structure and the ...data processing method of the measurement system in detail. This measurement system is capable of testing the range of each joint motion, and can be easily carried to the rehabilitation hall, wards and other occasions for test and evaluation. It plays an extremely important role in its application in monitoring rehabilitation process, assessing disability, doing scientific research, and in many other fields. Three experienced teachers tested the range of motion of cervical spine, lumbar spine, right side of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, ankle, and other joints of ten college students. Through comparing the test results and the obtained results of this measurement system by using the method of paired samples T-test, they got the results that the bilateral significance level (Sig) was greater than 0.05, which can be considered that there were no significant differences between these two sets of results. Then it verifies the validity of the data in this system.
This paper focuses on rigid head motion synthesis for a virtual person in human-machine interaction systems. Head gestures transmit additional, nonverbal information in human communication and can be ...used to increase the emotional context of the facial animation authentically simulating human behaviour. The presented method includes the head motion of the expressive face. The proposed motion model was described using Lie algebra for four rigid objects, which reflect the character of the neck and head skeleton movement and jaw bone. The obtained dependencies were used to generate three-dimensional motion of the head model, which was made considering the anatomical structure of the human head. The description presented in this article has the main advantage that it can be extended with additionally rigid elements. It means that we can get a description of the movement of the entire human skeleton, which reflects human anatomy. The proposed motion description eliminates the requirement to use motion capture whenever we need avatar movement in a particular situation, and we use it only for measurement data acquisition.
