Social and information networks undermine the real relationship between the individuals (ego) and the friends (alters) they are connected with on social media. The structure of individual network is ...highlighted by the ego network. Egocentric approach is popular due to its focus on individuals, groups, or communities. Size, structure, and composition directly impact the ego networks. Moreover, analysis includes strength of ego – alter ties degree and strength of ties. Degree gives the first overview of network. Social support in the network is explored with the “gap” between the degree and average strength. These outcomes firmly propose that, regardless of whether the approaches to convey and to keep up social connections are evolving because of the dispersion of online social networks, the way individuals sort out their social connections appears to remain unaltered. As online social networks evolve, they help in receiving more diverse information.
This article explores the ways in which contemporary digital visualization technologies offer grounds for a reappraisal of the relationship between qualitative and quantitative data. Using the ...example of a 3D digital model of the city of Manchester, the question of descriptive adequacy in the social sciences is addressed. The model is an interesting descriptive device oriented simultaneously to providing an accurate account of what is present in the world and a persuasive image of what that world could become. The analysis asks what kind of descriptive device the 3D model is, and looks at how it exercises its persuasive effects. While attending to how diverse knowledge forms are rendered compatible in the model, the concept of `discontinuous data' is introduced to draw attention to incompatible knowledges that do not appear in the model. The article explores the potential of such models to reconfigure discontinuous data forms and to produce provocative counter-maps.
With the development of computing capability and display size in computing hardware, mobile terminals like iPhone or iPad have been more and more accepted as a tool to help radiologists to examine ...medical images of patients in order to give more accurate diagnostic conclusion through server. The radiologists can observe the images by interacting them with different hand gestures to translate, rotate and zoom in or out the objects in the medical images of the mobile terminals. However, because of the requirements of remote medical, we need a system that should have one kind of function-collaboration, which means that when different radiologists located at different places hold a remote teleconference to discuss the same medical images for difficult miscellaneous disease, one expert wishes that when he changes the position of object in the images the other experts will see the changes at once so that they can keep accordance all the time to talk over the focus with voice communication and other auxiliary tools. This paper developed a remote and collaborative medical image visualization system where medical experts can work collaboratively with each other. In the proposed application, the server system can file the data of patients like CT, MR images and other information. Meanwhile, the terminal clients can download the medical 2D data and rendering them on itself including 3D image reconstruction, moreover the server can also support teleconference mode that the experts in different places discuss one patient's illness with this system like in the same location of conference. Finally, the performance issues regarding the remote 3D visualization of the medical images platform over the wireless network of the proposed system were also discussed. The result demonstrated that the proposed remote and collaborative medical image visualization computing platform could provide a perfect interactive experience in the WLAN and 4G network.
Laminar flow in the bends of a rectangular cross section is numerically simulated by a direct integration of the full Navier-Stokes equations. A detailed description of the flow near the entrance and ...the exit of the curved section is given based on t he numerical results for a strongly curved 90-degree square bend. The discrepancy between the experimentally visualized flow pattern and the actual flow field is also demonstrated, and the inclusion of the upstream history in the experiments is suggested. The numerical result of a 180-degree of aspect ratio 2 is compared with the recent LDV measurement. The agreement is quite reasonable.

Research in visualization often revolves around visualizing information. However, visualization is a process that extends over time from initial exploration to hypothesis confirmation, and even to ...result presentation. It is rare that the final phases of visualization are solely about information. In this paper we present a more biased kind of visualization, in which there is a message or set of assumptions behind the presentation that is of interest to both the presenter and the viewer, and emphasizes points that the presenter wants to convey to the viewer. This kind of persuasive visualization -- presenting data in a way that emphasizes a point or message -- is not only common in visualization, but also often expected by the viewer. Persuasive visualization is implicit in the deliberate emphasis on interestingness and also in the deliberate use of graphical elements that are processed preattentively by the human visual system, which automatically groups these elements and guiding attention so that they "stand out". We discuss how these ideas have been implemented in the Morpherspective system for automated generation of information graphics.
