This article analyzes the impact of factors inherent to the orientation modalities on the professional insertion of young graduates in the job market. Although university institutions believe that ...they are providing young graduates with adequate training so that they can be competitive on the job market, it appears that they still have difficulty entering the job market. However, university training is developed without taking into account the orientation processes such as the personal interests of the graduate. This results in unemployment. The study is part of an explanatory approach based on a mixed design. It was carried out among 200 graduates of the departments of Art and Archaeology of the Falsh, Tourism and Hospitality. The questionnaire and the semi-structured interviews of individual types collected information from 200 participants and another 5 for the interview, respectively. The results show positive correlations between professional interest and access to employment r (200) = .353, p < .001; commitment r (200) = .355, P < .001; job retention r (200) = .293, p < .001; and finally professional insertion r (200) = .405, p < .001. It should be noted that orientation and university training policies are not sufficient if the young graduate does not feel involved in the process. The study suggests the involvement of guidance actors in the training programs; to focus these trainings on the existing opportunities on the labor market.
This paper looks at the national and international geographic mobility paths of young graduates in Italy and their educational and professional trajectories. By departing from the research fields of ...youth studies, mobility studies and higher education studies, we aim to highlight the multiple meanings and effects that mobility experiences may have in structuring graduates’ future projects and/or desires. On the other hand, we argue that their expectations for both their mobility experiences and careers are also shaped by family socialisation, considering furthermore that the building of embodied and scholastic cultural capitals is spatially differentiated depending on the places where they grow up. The empirical research is based on two rounds of semi-narrative interviews conducted with 51 Italian graduates between 2020 and 2021. For the analysis, we have outlined four types of mobility paths. For each type, we focus on how socio-structural and cultural variables influence the ways the interviewees framed their mobility and professional experiences, desires and projects, focusing furthermore on how the Covid-19 pandemic differently affected their objective possibilities and strategies of mobility between the first and second waves.
The present article was conducted with the aim of presenting the strategies for fulfilling the recommendations of the statement of the second step of the revolution in the field of spirituality and ...ethics in the educational system of a military higher education center by evaluating the performance of its graduates. This research was applied and was done by descriptive-survey and cross-sectional method. The research population is the direct commanders of all the graduates of the center in 2016 (699 people) who have served in the operational units for nearly 2 to 3 years after successfully completing the introductory course (and at the time of the research in 2019). The sample population was selected as a whole. Data collection tools include the quantitative method of the researcher-made questionnaire and the qualitative method of the focus group interview. The validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by experts and its reliability was 88.6% using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Based on this, 521 questionnaires were completed and 1268 minutes of interviews were conducted. To analyze the quantitative data, descriptive and inferential statistical indices (sample student t-test and ANOVA) and qualitative data were used. The results show that the level of competencies of graduates in the field of spirituality and ethics is significantly higher than the average and is in a "desirable" condition. Also, the ranking of three competencies of young graduates showed that value competencies have the highest rank.
A higher education degree has been regarded as an investment that helps young people access good jobs. However, it is increasingly difficult for young graduates to enter the labour market and, more ...importantly, to access high quality jobs. This paper examines determinants of the wages of young bachelor and master graduates engaged in different contractual arrangements. Linked employer-employee data, namely Quadros de Pessoal (2007 and 2011), were used to compare the impact of standard and non-standard jobs on the wages of post-Bologna graduates who entered the labour market during the economic recession in Portugal. Most graduates start by getting a full-time job, be it stable or flexible. Empirical evidence shows wage differentials linked to the type of contractual arrangement, although the impact in 2007 is not the same in 2011. The contracts that combine flexibility with part-time work have been the most penalised in recent times. The transition of bachelors to the labour market is expected to be more precarious; however, according to data for 2011, master graduates appear to be protected against low quality jobs in Portugal.
The 2008 economic crisis has had particularly negative effects on the youth labour market outcomes in Southern Europe. Thus, it is hardly surprising that many Southern European youngsters see ...migration as the only way to escape from under-employment and precariousness. In this context, the article studies the reasons for emigration to Mexico of a group of young graduates from Italy and Spain. The paper is based on 42 in-depth semi-structured interviews with young graduates, aged 29 years old or less on their arrival in Mexico. The article first explores the relevance of the economic crisis as the main reason behind the migration of this group. It is revealed that the interviewed graduates had a precarious labour incorporation back in their countries of origin, and migration appeared as a means to further their careers. Second, the paper analyses the interviewees' labour incorporation in Mexico; in many cases this coincides with an extended university-work transition, since many of them had not secured full-time permanent jobs before their arrival in Mexico. Finally, the paper explores the interviewees' future plans. These depend not only on their work experiences in Mexico but also on their degree of social and cultural integration in the host country.
This article aims to present partial results of qualitative research for a master's degree in education, with a narrative bias, with an emphasis on the debate on gender and decoloniality. Three young ...graduates from the basic education network in the city of Santana-AP, aged between 20 and 23 years old, participated in the research. The participants were invited based on their interest and involvement with feminist themes, demonstrated in their school experience and personal relationships. Based on the collaborators' understanding of being a woman, we sought to understand how colonial gender violence is expressed and operated on women of color in Abya Yala . Gender, in this way, is debated as colonial violence where, in intersection with the dimensions of race, sexuality and class, it configures oppressions and subalternities that specifically signify the racialized women of the global south. The critical conceptions of young people who graduated from elementary school about being a woman indicate elements that bring consistency to the social analysis of decolonial feminisms and corroborate the overcoming of the patriarchal, modern and colonial imposition of gender in the territories of Abya Yala, allowing reflections on the paths for overcoming gender violence.

Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the impact of career attitudes (traditional career vs boundaryless career) on perceived employability (internal vs external employability). In ...addition, the authors examine whether career self-management strategies act as mediators of these relationships. Due to high unemployment rates in the last two decades, it is important to assess the extent to which young graduates’ career attitudes affect perceived internal and external employability, along with the role of career self-management strategies as an employability enhancement tool.
Design/methodology/approach
As part of a cross-sectional research design, the authors administered a survey questionnaire to a sample of 131 graduates (i.e. master’s students) with at least one year of work experience. The empirical data were analyzed with partial least squares structural equation modeling, which combines confirmatory factor analysis, multiple linear regression and path analysis.
Findings
The results reveal that there is a positive and significant impact (direct effect) of a traditional career attitude (TCA) on internal employability, while there is no significant negative impact of a TCA on external employability. Additionally, the results show that there is a negative impact (direct effect) of a boundaryless career attitude (BCA) on internal employability, while no significant positive impact is found of a BCA on external employability. This study also confirms the mediation effect (full mediation) of career positioning strategies on the BCA-external employability relationship, and a partial mediation of career influence strategies on the TCA-internal employability relationship.
Research limitations/implications
Limitations of this study relate to the sample size and the use of a convenience sampling technique. Hence, some caution is needed regarding results’ generalization. In addition, this research uses a cross-sectional design, thus the authors cannot assess longitudinal causal relationships between variables. Future research should be replicated with different types of respondents and in different cultural contexts.
Practical implications
The results suggest that organizations would benefit more from employees that hold a TCA than those that hold a BCA, especially if they are interested in fostering the internal employability of their workforce. At the individual level, the results identify optimal career self-management strategies (internal vs external employability) for young graduates.
Originality/value
This study offers new empirical evidence of the predictive value of perceived internal vs external employability and the mediating role of career self-management strategies in explaining employability. Young graduates perceive a TCA as more advantageous than a BCA for both internal and external employability. This is an unexpected but interesting finding, since the bulk of the literature on contemporary career attitudes overemphasizes the advantages of a BCA, while disregarding potential disadvantages for both individuals and organizations.
Economic conditions affect the youth labour market and can leave deep scars. This exploratory study examines the emotional responses and mental health symptoms of young graduates during their ...transition into the labour market in the pandemic context. It draws on 42 news articles with statements from 86 graduates from a set of European and non-European countries. The graduates had jobs or internships cancelled, numerous applications unanswered or were dismissed from jobs they had recently started. Young people adopt a variety of coping strategies, which are often invisible and cause deep suffering due to anxiety, disappointment, fear, and depression. Their apprehension and uncertainty leave them in a state of limbo. The specific impacts of the pandemic on young people's lives serve as a warning of the need to protect future generations of graduates. More support is required worldwide to manage the mental health issues that affect young graduates, especially during economic recessions.
In our study we analyse the risk factors of precarity among young graduates. We aim to explore the characteristics that can turn young graduates towards precarity. The position of young graduates is ...better on the labor market than that of job seekers with lower qualification. Nevertheless, there are some risk factors that can also affect young graduates, such as the uncertainty on the labor market, and the chance and danger of falling into precarity. In this paper, different interpretations of and approaches to precarity are validated as a theoretical framework, taking into account the main theories dealing with the concept of precarity and with precarity as a class. We focus on young graduates as a group at risk of precarity, and thus also analyse the theories dealing with their situation. Our empirical investigation tests the claims of the main theories. For this purpose, we conduct a secondary analysis of the 2018 database of the Graduate Tracking System based on the responses of 15 102 recent graduates. Studies show that the risk of precariousness in Hungary is mainly shaped by the level of education and the post-graduation job. However, since no similar empirical analysis has been conducted for the country, our study is exploratory in nature, which gives it both its value in terms of novelty and its limitations.
