    Background. The experiences in diagnostic and treatment of anorexia nervosa inchildren and adolescent admitted to the Department of endocrinology, diabetes and metabolic diseases of the University ... children's hospital are described. The attention is almost exlusively focused on the somatic symptoms.The psychodynamic factors concerning individual and systemic interactions are left apart. Conclusions. The number of patients with classic or early-on-set anorexia nervosa admitted to the Department of endocrinology, diabetes and metabolic disease has increased more than three times in the follow up period. There was no difference in the portion of boys with classic and eary-onset anerexia nervosa. Among the patients who need more intensive psychoterapeutic treatment and were transferred to the psyhiatric ward were proportionally more boys than girls. The main clinical features were bradycardia, hyporension, gastrointestinal symptoms, primary and secondary amenorrhoe. Anemia and hypoproteinemia were the consequences of vegetarian diets. The mortality rate among patients was 0.9%.
