The second wave of the COVID-19 epidemic in Slovenia [Elektronski vir] : stressors and coping with COVID-19-related distressKuhar, Metka, 1978- ; Hlebec, ValentinaThe COVID-19 pandemic has transformed modern societies with the threats its poses as well as the government-imposed restrictions on social life aimed at containing the disease. The pandemic is ... responsible for various impacts on individuals with regard to practical changes in everyday life, economic destabilisation, ambivalent information etc. In this chapter, we explore how stressors (related to health, the work sphere, social relationships, state measures, the general situation) have impacted perceived distress and coping with the COVID-19 challenges in the second wave of the COVID-19 epidemic in Slovenia. Participants in the second wave of the COVID-19 epidemic on average were experiencing moderately intense distress and were coping with it moderately successfully. Stressors related to social relations and societal situations were assessed as the most burdensome, followed by health-related stressors, working changes, and lastly loss of work/income. The results indicate that stressors explain most of the variance of distress and coping perceptions, whereas the control variables, encompassing demographic variables as well as being ill with COVID-19, have very little impact. Psychological inflexibility and social support make a minor contribution to perceived distress and coping beyond the stressors and the controls.Source: Quality of life in COVID-19 pandemic [Elektronski vir] : a kaleidoscope of challenges and responses of various population groups during the crisis (Str. 89-121, 217)Type of material - e-article ; adult, seriousPublish date - 2022Language - englishCOBISS.SI-ID - 118252803
