  • Development of an advanced gripper for handling and positioning of bearings in injection molding machines
Pipan, Miha, 1982- ; Adrović, Edo ; Herakovič, Niko
Injection molding of plastic materials on metallic and nonmetallic materials is a relatively new discipline. The dimensions of the finished product are influenced by several factors in comparison to ... conventional injection molding. The final shape of the injected product strongly depends on the characteristics of the inserted piece, which also affects the uncertainty in simulation of the injection molding. To achieve very tight tolerances, precise positioning of the inserted pieces in the injection mold is crucial. The clearance between the inserted piece and injection mold has a great influence on the position of the inserted piece to injected material. Therefore, tolerances of the injection mold, where you insert a piece, must be as tight as possible. In this article we will show the development of an automated production line for a product tensioner pulley. The clearance between each bearing and push core is 2-4 m, while the gap between the four centers of push cores is 120 mm with tolerance of 1 m. To achieve the shortest cycle of injection molding, we have developed an advanced gripper, which simultaneously inserts four bearings within the required precision, and collects the finished products after the injection molding is performed.
