  • Levkocitni aloantigeni pri transplantaciji ledvice = Leukocyte alloantigens in renal transplantation
    Vidan-Jeras, Blanka
Human Leukocyte Antigens consist of glycoprotein chains which contain globulardomains. Two of the domains of each HLA molecule interact to form a cleft that binds antigenic peptides. HLA molecules ... play a central role in the presentation of foreign protein antigens, processed into peptides, to the immune system. Class I molecules, which are expressed on nearly all nucleated cells, present processed endogenous antigens to CD8+ T cells. Class II molecules, which are expressed on a limited number of antigen presenting cells(macrophages, dendritic cells, B cells), present processed exogenous antigens to CD4+ T cells. The rejection of graft is a byproduct of this fundamental role of HLA molecules.
