  • Spolno prenosljive okužbe v tropih = Sexually transmitted infections in tropics
    Matičič, Mojca
Sexually transmitted infections in the tropics are a complex health care problem regarding the incidence and prevalence of both "modern" as well as "classical" ones. Some of them are endemic in these ... areas. Diagnostic and therapeutic facilities are often limited due to local economic and cultural status. Genital ulcerative sexually transmitted infections with adenopathy arevery common and complications due to untreated infections are widespread. Heterosexual transmission of HIV infection is dominant in contrast to the industrialised western world and is epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa. This review focuses on the most common sexually transmitted infections in the tropics regarding their clinical picture, diagnosis and treatment, and presents algorythms for the management of patients with certain clinical symptoms of sexually transmitted infections.
