Room heat exchanger with PCM as a thermal accumulation for heating and cooling of buildings [Elektronski vir]Osterman, Eneja ; Butala, Vincenc ; Stritih, UrošEnergy storage technologies are a strategic and necessary component for the efficient utilization of renewable energy sources and energy conservation . Phase change materials (PCMs) are ideal for ... energy storage purposes since they can store energy at relatively constant temperature and within small temperature range. This is especially suitable in applications working on "free cooling" principle as well as for heating with "solar air". A room heat exchanger which can store heat and/or cold is analysed. It consists of plates which are filled with PCM and air is used as a heat transfer fluid. Presented are two different analyses; first one is with RT25 an d the second one is with RT22HC. Heat transfer from and into PCM is simulated with Ansys Fluent code for 2D geometry, whereas flow field is simulated for 3d geometry. In order to determine the performance of such a unit different air inlet velocities, inl et air temperatures, melting temperatures and initial conditions are under investigation.Source: Advances in thermal energy storage [Elektronski vir] (Datoteka EUROTHERM99-01-056 (10 f.))Type of material - conference contributionPublish date - 2014Language - englishCOBISS.SI-ID - 13890843
