    This article discusses various aspects of the illegal homemade drug krokodil (rus. крокодил, krokodil), which has also appeared in Slovenia due to various geopolitical factors. In particular, the ... medical consequences of use and the biochemical properties of the active ingredient desomorphine are discussed. For a better understanding of the topic, the first part of the article describes the case of a Ukrainian krokodil user who ended up in Slovenia due to the war in Ukraine. In the main part, the chemical composition, synthesis, pharmacology, and toxicology of the drug are described, as well as the signs and symptoms of abuse, diagnosis, and treatment. The last section describes the spread of krokodil abuse in Ukraine and worldwide.
