  • Measurements of trace constituents at the high Alpine backgroundstation Sonnblick : a contribution to the EUROTRAC subproject TOR
Puxbaum, Hans ; Gomišček, Boštjan ; Radunsky, Klaus
Within the mainframe program of TOR continous ozone measurements were performed at the SBO site at 3106 m a.s.l. The annual ozone average for 1990 was 48 ppb. The seasonal trend shows a week spring ... maximum in April-May and a similarily weak summer maximum in July-August. Additionally around 100 elevational profiles of ▫$O_3$▫ have been recorded from the bottom of the valley (1600 m a.s.l.) to the SBO (3106 m a.s.l.) site during three campaigns in February, May and July 1990. In July the profiles were performed during a thirteen day ozone episode. From the dynamic behaviour of the profiles we concluded, that transport processes were the dominant factor for the fluctuation of ozone concentration during the periods. Due to the complex behaviour of the mixing layer in the high alpine terrain it is at present not possible to discriminate advective and convective transport processes.
