  • Detection and analysis of sound in resistance spot welding
    Polajnar, Ivan ; Diaci, Janez
During the resistance spot welding the audio sound and acoustic emission were detected and recorded. In this article we describe experimental set-up and discuss the characteristic features of ... detected signals in time and frequency domain. Results of chronological analysis of the audio sound and acoustic emission signals show clear connection between both signals and phenomena that appear during and after the welding. Most notable phenomena are, for instance, the beginning and the end of forming of weld nugget and expulsions of melted basic material during the welding. By analysing the frequency of sound we have determined the characteristics of forming of weld spot that appear during the welding and immediately after the welding current is switched off.
