Proper ventilation and solar energy utilization are necessary to maintain a comfortable and healthy indoor environment in energy efficient buildings. Solar assisted preheating of ventilation air ...using adapted building envelope elements is energy favorable and a cost effective solution. The technique of using existing roof as a solar collector appears to have many advantages compared with custom made solar air heating collectors. The paper presents design of large scale air solar collector made from metal roof panels and measurement results of the first Slovenian large panel solar system. Simulation results and economic analyses show an excellent relation between heat gains and pay back period.
