  • Hollaback, a social movement dedicated to end street harassment [Elektronski vir] = Hollaback, društveni pokret usmjeren na suzbijanje uličnog uznemiravanja
    Perasović Cigrovski, Barbara
This paper examines the role of Hollaback, an international movement dedicated to ending street harassment of women and LGBTIQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Questioning) people. ... Street harassment is one of the most prevalent forms of gender-based violence, yet it is largely trivialised in public discourse. Hollabackʼs development from a New York based blog into an international movement is outlined and its working model is described. It is argued that sharing stories of street harassment helps to shape the definition of street harassment and empowers those who share their experience. It is also argued that decentralised leadership and utilisation of technology help to involve those volunteers worldwide who have less access to power, or who otherwise would not have had the opportunity to speak against street harassment in their communities.
