  • Računalniški postopek izračunavanja zalog in virov mineralnih surovin = a computer based method for calculating the available mineral resources
    Žibret, Gorazd ; Šajn, Robert
Before the beginning of exploitation of a mineral deposit it is compulsory to have the geological documentation with calculated available resources is required. The traditional procedure of ... conducting such calculation is with the method of parallel geologic profiles involves constructing in the space of an ore body regular geometric bodies, which are: pyramids, wedges and parallelepipeds. For all three bodies the exact mathematical equations for the calculation of their volumes are known. However, this procedure is not only quite long-lasting but there is also a high probability for making errors. The proposed computer method is based on linear interpolation between known points in space for the upper and lower limit of an ore bed and on the trapezoidal rule for the calculation of the volume of a body between two limiting planes. Geometrically, this procedure is simpler and also more accurate because the automatic computing algorithms allow to repeat calculations over very short distances. This reduces the possibility of errors and shortens the calculation time. The procedure is very useful as a supplemental method for quick verification of the accuracy of classical methods.
