Working within research on emotions, this paper deals with the area of linguistic-rhetorical expression in literary texts. The literary use of language has recourse to more manifold and freer ...possibilities of capturing emotions in languages than everyday language does. Galsan Tschinag proves himself a master in this regard in his novel Das andere Dasein (The Other Existence, 2011). Through the use of didacticized text extracts from the work, the recognition and ordering of literary stylistic means are taught. The theme of love, which is notoriously difficult to encapsulate in words but which remains immortally fascinating, is a motivational basis and also the remarkably attractive, romantic and suspenseful, and linguistically creative style of the author. A pity-inducing but also remarkable love between cultures can grip the reader and also increase intercultural competence. This is a practical example of a different way of teaching stylistic means of expression and of learning how they can soon be consciously employed.
