  • Drilling of small holes with Abrasive Water Jet (AWJ): a state of the art review
    Orbanić, Henri ; Junkar, Mihael
A state of the art review has been done on technologies for drilling of small holes with an emphasis on Abrasive Water Jet (AWJ). In this paper a current level of drilling technology has been ... described and a comparison was made. Also stated is the connection with the European project WALHI. It was found that major advantages of AWJ drilling technique over other drilling techniques are that it can drill almost every material and it does not produce heat affected zone (HAZ). On the other hand this is still a developing technique, which cannot drill such small and deep holes as other techniques. AWJ can generate holes by three methods: piercing, drilling and trepanning.
