At recent years vesicular arbuscular mycorrhiza (VAM) is frequently the subject of studies. Host cultivated plants at some circumstances often benefit from symbiotic associations. The most important ... role of VAM is improved mineral uptake into the plants, especialy phosphorus uptake. On wild spread and cultivated asparagus in littoral part of Slovenia the presence of vbesicular-arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (VAM) was examined. Intensivity of VAM infection was expressed with a percent with VAM fungi infected roots. Wild spread asparagus was on first location 3,9 times more infected and on second location 4 times more infected than the cultivated asparagus. VAM fungi are presented on both, wild spread and cultivated asparagus. Intensity of VAM infection was lower in cultivated soil where higher level of soluble phosphate was present.
