The main purpose of the diploma thesis was to compile a German-Slovene glossary on the subject of customs. The diploma thesis consists of two sections, the theoretical and the practical. The ...theoretical section contains a definition of specialised language, terminology and term, as well as dictionaries and the specialist area of customs, while the practical section of the diploma thesis comprises the German-Slovene customs glossary. In the course of compiling the glossary, defining the basic concepts in the theoretical section proved to be vital in order to produce a proper glossary, since this process involves much more than merely writing down headwords found in selected literature and arranging them randomly. Quite the contrary, this kind of work requires a systematic approach. The area of customs is one of the areas where knowing the terminology is especially important in order to understand it properly. As the Slovene economy is closely connected to the German and Austrian markets, I researched the terminology frequently used in customs in German, and searched for its equivalent in Slovene, using the findings to compile the German-Slovene glossary on the subject in question. The glossary contains terms and set phrases that are frequently used in customs. For clarity's sake, I chose the alphabetical order of headwords, to which I added only Slovene translation equivalents. In order to make the glossary as useful as possible, it also contains collocations, synonyms and antonyms.
