In the thesis, I focus on the elements one needs to observe in speechmaking in order to create the maximum effect on their listener. I thoroughly analyse Hitler's, Lenin's and Stalin's ways of ...writing and giving speeches. I also discuss some other elements which additionally support the successful influencing of the masses. Therefore, the thesis consists of the following topics: propaganda, the importance of speech, the construction of speech, vocabulary, gesticulation and mimics and the question of how the above-mentioned speakers built their enemy in their discourse. Each of the topics is presented in detail in the theoretical part, while the empirical part serves as the analysis of the chosen chapters of Hitler's book My Struggle, Lenin's speech The Tasks of the Youth Leagues and Stalin's speech that he gave on the radio on 3rd July, 1941. The thesis shows similarities and differences based on the theory, while the analysis in the empirical part confirms that all three speakers constructed their speeches by following the rules of classical rhetoric, employed the same elements and used their speeches to attract the masses and be clearly understood.
