  • Bridge management system based on Cost Action TU1406 findings [Elektronski vir]
Kušar, Matej, gradbeništvo ; Srdič, Aleksander
Bridge failure leads to long detours and traffic congestion. To ensure their safety and serviceability within a reasonable budget, an effective decision support system is required. Based on the ... results of the COST action TU 1406 and the requirements of the Slovenian highway authorities, a new comprehensive Bridge management system (BMS) was developed and put into operation in 2021. It consists of a structural and a network level. At the structural level, bridge performance assessment is based on four key performance indicators (KPIs): traffic safety, reliability, serviceability and economy. To estimate the cost of rehabilitation measures related to KPI economy, damage ratings of bridges’ individual structural parts and a catalogue of rehabilitation measures are built into the system. For each bridge, the annual KPI and damage rating values are calculated for all combinations of remedial measures for the entire period under consideration. Decision optimization is performed with dTIMS software. It provides a combination of measures that yields the best benefit-cost ratio at the network level for the period under consideration, taking into account the annual financial resources available.
