  • Braking performance of line-start interior permanent magnet synchronous machines

    This paper evaluates the braking performance of line-start interior permanent magnet synchronous machines (LSIPMSMs), which may be employed for shortening of stopping-times in large-inertia drives, ... braking energy recuperation and in passive brake systems with explicit dynamics. The comparative analysis is based on measurement data of voltage, current, output power and rotor speed independence of the braking torque produced by the two tested LSIPMSMs, one with a symmetrical three-phase and one with a symmetrical two-phase stator winding.
