    In the paper the authors present a software application for determining the technical and economical thermal insulation thickness and heat losses in pipe systems. When calculating the heat flow ... through the insulation we have to consider the influence of heat bridges (heat conductors that support the elements of pipelines, insulation and armatures) on the increase of heat transfer through the insulation of pipelines for the transport of heating or cooling media. Only the heat bridges of supporting insulation elements are considered when determining the optimal insulation thickness. A numerical algorithm has neen developed using known procedures for the calculation of stationary heat flow through the thermal insulation of pipe systems dor the transportation of cold or hot media, together with technical and economic calculations. These calculations have been simplified by the development of a user-friendly software application, but in spite of this, the users must have the basic knowledge in heat transfor and economics.
